VeriCool Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Hi John As a company we do believe in freedom to discuss experiences and try to resist interfering in a thread however... There is a lot in this thread that we would disagree with although we recognise that users of all systems have problems and should be allowed to express their views, fair enough. A line has been crossed here with the claim that Vericool went " pop " this is simply not true, Vericool was part of General Dynamics and the company was sold as a going concern. it has always been financially solvent and the implication that this is not the case is very damaging. Companies change hands from time to time and this is much the same as many of our competitors - two of our largest competitors recently changed hands. I am sure if you are representing schools with your views that you can understand our frustration at the inaccuracy of this specific point. Thanks Vericool

Would you care to comment on the other items mentioned, about your products perhaps? I'm sure schools would be keen to hear from you on those.
RobFrain Posted November 12, 2015 Author Posted November 12, 2015 That's has got very interesting!!! We now have 5 quotes (We've added Fast-trak (and LCR but we wont count them!!)) and my meeting is tomorrow. Normally when I do this there is a very clear winner. This is the first time in 10 years where I haven't got a clue which product we are going to pick as each system has its pros and cons... 1
rad Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 @RobFrain Have you asked for schools locally that have the system? I would go and look at the system in action at nearby schools. This is what we did to decide who to go with.
RobFrain Posted November 16, 2015 Author Posted November 16, 2015 The decision has been made. Its taken us three hours to narrow down 7 quotes to 1. We will not be using any from the thread title!!! We've actually gone with one of the late comers which was FasTrak from Biostore. We were very impressed with their solution and their price. The tills are HP, nice and modern User Interface, very easy looking backend system and we could purchase our own hardware for the pre order system. I'll keep you posted on how we do with setup. We're aiming to get everything running in time for the last week of term. Fingers Crossed!!

pete Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 ^ What are the touchscreens like? The ones they had on the stand at BETT (TN with poor viewing angles) put me off a bit.
Ruth4 Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Hi just wondered how you were getting on with Cunninghmas now it's been for over a year? Have there been any problems, and quickly do they sort things out? Thanks
RobFrain Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 Love it - All seems to work, nice and easy interface. We've had a few issues with the Receipt printer, but they appear to have resolved them.
ordeology Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I realise this is an old post now but how do you find the Fastrak system now? We are considering a couple of options and Biostore have come back with some very competitive pricing.
mukz Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I realise this is an old post now but how do you find the Fastrak system now? We are considering a couple of options and Biostore have come back with some very competitive pricing. We are with Fastrak and the only thing i hate it that our SLT give students who have no money on their accounts overdrafts. We don't trust the kitchen staff to override to add an overdraft and Biostore don't have an option to add the option for only selected kitchen staff. Causes issues with parents not topping up money constantly but this has since been resolved with internal procedures.
RobFrain Posted January 23, 2017 Author Posted January 23, 2017 I would definitely give them a chance. They came in at the last minute as we actually felt sorry for them. They really impressed us. I know they have now updated their tills, however I'm not sure what they are now. Just over a year down the road we have had a few problems, but you'd probably expect that with any company. I know they recently moved their support to Newcastle and we did have problems in getting in contact with anyone, but these seem to have been resolved. It was the Head's decision to make the system completely cashless and use Parentpay. No cash is accepted at all in school, and the takings for the kitchen have gone from £400 a day to £1200 a day! All in all I'm very confident in the system and we're hoping to build and use biometrics around the site very soon.
howartp Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Had Biostore in last week - was also impressed with them. It seems a much more all-in price structure versus others who charge you more if you want to sell food on days beginning with T, or if you want to add ketchup to that.
ordeology Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 We went with fastrak in the end, install was smooth, hardware is good, software is good, and the after sales support has been good.
RobFrain Posted June 22, 2017 Author Posted June 22, 2017 Sounds like Fastrak! We're very impressed with them. We're now just trying to push county and our finance department to supply us with a Fastrak biometric vending machine for drinks! Its expensive but should give us the return in about 8 months.
