Sims .net has worked well on win 10 beta for me, from memory support starts in a couple of releases time according to the tech roadmap

Edit: support starts spring 2016 for 64bit w10

There is a difference between working and support.

It appears SIMS does work with Windows 10, however it is not supported.

Just to mention, I noticed a possible FMS installation issue with Solus 3 on Windows 10 Education x64.

When BDE tries to install the installer will hang and not complete.

The only way I have found around this so far is running the extracted BDE installer manually from the relevant directory in C:\ProgramData\Capita\Solus3\Deployments\Packages. After which terminating the other installers continues on with the regular Solus 3 installation process for FMS.

Yeah FMS has been a bit hit and miss for us. Weirdly it seems fine on 10 Pro x64 but Education x64 seems to have issues.

Was having issues on my machine until this morning when suddenly the S3 agent popped up saying it was installing FMS and it worked!?

Likewise for us, SOLUS3 hangs when trying to install the BDE component of FMS onto a Windows 10 device and just locks up completely! The school affected are also running Windows 10 Education edition.

We are using the new SOULS 3.10.88.4 version which is meant to be Windows 10 compatible.

Solus 3 won't deploy to Win 10 Education 64 bit for me. I haven't really looked into it yet (this was my first port of call to see if it was possible).

Strange, Solus 3 installed fine here on Windows 10 Education x64, the only issue I had was with FMS and the BDE component as mentioned above.

Same here. Is this issue still present after the Spring Update?

I haven't needed to do any fresh installs of FMS since then, so not sure, but I would assume the issue is still present.

I ask as the Spring update was when sims and fms officially supported Win 10. I'll have to have a play :)

Installed Solus manually on the workstation and all went fine (despite Solus crashing and needing to be restarted but that's a regular thing for us). So it's just the installing from the server which is probably a local permissions thing I need to worry about. I don't need to worry about FMS on Win10 yet, so when I do hopefully any issues will have been sorted. Edited by Chrish5

FMS and Options have been a pain for me since we left XP. They use a global sims path which doesn't work if you have a mixture of 32bit and 64bit installs of windows because of the program files vs program files x86 issue. We now have everyone on 64bit windows finally but it is something to consider.

Symbolic links fix this.

Anyone had any joy with FMS installing now Stuck on BDE for me even with the latest release.

It's still broken. Capita's "work around" is to extract the BDE installer from the SOLUS 3 UI and then install it manually onto any workstations that will have the FMS client installed.

It is apparently being worked on by the devs so I presume it will be addressed in a future release of SOLUS 3. God knows when that will be though as it's currently a major PITA, and will be more so when schools start re-imaging devices over Summer.

Dear All

Bubbles is correct the current solution is an intermediate fix until the dev teams have developed and tested a fix to this issue.

I apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.

Kind regards

Nick
