Hi all, hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Trying to get In touch working and messages are queuing but not leaving the server. I suspect it’s a legacy smtp server setting as we used in touch years ago but can’t see anywhere in sims to set the smtp server ! Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks Very much for all the help much appreciated. I'm just shocked that this information isn't provided as 3Cx have template'd Gamma and visa versa. In essence i expected to set the trunk up in 2 minutes just as I did with Sipgate. Oh well all good now thanks again!

Hi Everyone, Please can anyone who is using 3cx and gamma sip trunks give me some pointers ? Gamma support have been appalling all i want is a few steps to getting their "Supported" sip trunks working with 3cx. I have been told after 3 hours of back and forth they can see a private ip. Can anyone let me know how I should set their trunks up in 3cx it should be simple (sipgate was) but gamma seem to not care about getting it working. Many thanks in advance

Hi All, Were moving to 3CX over the summer just setting things up and can't for the life of me seem to get our Sophos XG to play nicely with 3CX (On prem) Followed a few guides i've come across added port forwarding etc but nothing seems to work. I'm at the initial stages of config and am on the in-built firewall checker. my main issue is "Full Cone NAT" anyone got a similar setup? Many thanks

I have an XG450 very powerful bit of kit. self installed without any training fairly simple and good support over the phone direct to sophos. Really pleased. Hi All, Hope i have put this in the right place! What is everyone doing regarding File server auditing ? like most we have £0 for new software solutions and the free editions of the likes of Netwrx doesn't cut it. (for us anyway) I need something which monitors file access, modification, deletion etc and reports who did what where and when. Any help gratefully received

Assuming 300 clients per building i would do 3 x /23 ranges giving you 510 addresses in each subnet the roaming shouldnt be an issue as the SSID and authentication method would be consistent Honestly though if the access to the SSID and the access once authenticated is the same for the clients say for student / staff laptops I would say do 1 /22 subnet giving you 1022 addresses. It all depends on the end game. Hope that helps! Ps you would need a way to broadcast the SSID per building to use a different VLAN for that SSID Unifi that we use is easy to create a Virtual "Site" but it maybe harder for you to do depending on your wireless solution! Normally i would vlan a specific SSID such as staff, Student, Guest etc.

It depends on how many people will be using the Ap at any one time and also what the AP will be handling. If its just email and web browsing with a few app updates etc and your not needing to guarentee bandwidth a lite will be fine however if you needed MU-MIMO and alot of concurrent connected users you will need to look at the more expensive options.

Depends on your switching and routing. On our unifi network all worked no issues. On the Netgear network i had to enable Bonjour, Multicast routing, MLD Snooping on the core and MDNS reflection on the router. Then enable bonjour forwarding at the edge as well. A bit of faffing but only took about an hour to make the required changed. We also use Papercut mobility print and airserver.

Yes, You can you need to put the config as follows > 1. USG Lan Uplink (Switch) > 2, Wan port on USG to your router lan port / firewall (On a separate subnet I would suggest) than your router. So you could setup a 2 ip address subnet (/30) to give you 2 separate from your main network addresses 1 would become the static wan ip on the USG and the other a static Lan address on the router so your setting up in essence a "Private" ip range for the router to talk to your USG. Two key things to remember with the unifi stuff is the controller is King you need to ensure the controller contains all required networks before trying to provision the USG and also set the ip of your gateway (and disable dhcp on it or your present dhcp server) if your USG is on the latest firmware put a cable into a pc and direct to the ln port 1 on the usg and browse to 192.168.1.1 put the config in there then once saved and the controller is all setup plug the usg into the network if all ok you should be up and running within 1-2 hour incl testing. Once the USG is provisioned it will want to become the router for the lan. As I dont know your experience i'm trying to keep it as simple as I can so sorry if it comes across like i'm being too or not too techie! if you need help let me know but please be aware if it goes wrong (mine did several times) it will bring your network to a halt until its removed! its a very nice bit of kit but in my situation at least it became quite complex as I have a very big network which has to have 99% uptime so I did alot of testing and break fix before actually bringing it into the network fully Hope that helps

Hi all. Yes it have it working! (after way too many attempts) My network in a nutshell > (1) USG-XG-8 (also an edgerouter infinity as a backup in case I have an issue with the XG) (long story) all interfaces goto an (2) Xg-16 switch this then hits the (3)"Core" aggregation switches the Wan port of the USG-XG-8 goes into my sophos Lan port on a separate subnet 192.168.x.x/30 giving 2 ip's one is for the "Lan" on my sophos and the other is the "Wan" on the USG the gateway at all times is my sophos box. I'm using google Public DNS in the USG DNS fields and I then created an allow all firewall rule on the USG after it was successfully provisioned as its behind my sophos box to keep all of my lan to wan stuff working as it should (without the rule on usg all my external facing stuff inlc vpn stopped working) If you need any help feel free to PM Me and will do what I can to help.

I have been using pretty much the entire unifi line for over a year now and don't regret the decision at all. I have 47 switches in use a few spares on the shelf, 81 Access points, 10g edgerouter infinity, 8 of their CCTV Cameras and all my cab locations coming back to 2 "Core" 16 port unifi XG's (with 20gbps between the two xg's) We dont do anything spectacular with the config. I run 8 vlans in total and the whole thing flies! the Edgerouter is part of the edgemax line rather than unifi and you have alot of control on the edgemax range. As others have said the unifi line is more simplified but my own philosphy is we run big networks with little money and my skills and opinions & spend decisions have adaped over the years to make the most of what I have / can afford. if you want alot of control over config Edgeswitches are probably your best bet. I know their is definately a high value for stacking etc but I decided it wasn't worth the extra cost of a big brand for the additional features. To give you some idea of my network on a normal day you will see in excess of 6tb of data shifted across the lan and 800gb+ of data pulled from the internet 1100 devices (lan and wlan) 10+ iscsi connections for the file shares on our Synology box's etc and 1k+ guests on the wifi. The whole thing works really well.

Hi All, Sorry if this needs to be moved to networking. strange one this! Lots of staff complaining of system "slowness and Stutters" example would be typing in word and slow to respond on screen, along with some random crashes to boot. We have (I feel) a very good network. 10gbps backbone, very beefy servers, 15k sas drives and ISCSI luns with plenty of storage. Iscsi traffic is seperated, vlans setup and working properly, router not stressed. segregated wireless etc. Seems to happen at lesson change & lunchtime mainly although i have seen things go funny at other times. all "Seems" ok when looking at the networking and storage stats. for the life of me I can't see where the issue is any ideas ? Many thanks in advance!

Your going (in my opinion) too many versions forward from such a now legacy OS. I would not do it in a school so definately wouldnt do it for a business. but thats just my 2 pennies worth.

Don't attempt an upgrade especially if the enviroment is as busy as you say. Build and migrate is the way forward to save hassle in the long run!

Im Looking at this too. biggest issue for us is the whole cloud working model as we are all onsite storage still. Downloaded an office 365 cloudready edu version and it flies on our little laptops!
