I have a ubiquiti Edgerouter pro 8 and yes I have full control. I was going to add another interface say eth5 and add vlan20 to this but need to get dhcp to that interface don't know if that would work? I assume I would leave the smoothwall connected to the lan tagged with 20 so when requests come in with that vlan it will just forward to traffic to the smoothwall appliance? Sorry forgot to say I have 6 interfaces on smoothwall 1 is LAN 2 is public vlan20 and 3 is vlan30 staff (for radius clients)

Thanks @FN-GM is there another way I can do this ? I don't have access to smoothwall as I receive a "Managed" internet connection and may have to pay for the change to be made

Hi All, Installing new wifi and need some help with routing.. I am trying to setup a public internet only SSID and need some input. currently I have Smoothwall interface allowing vlan 20 (Public) which then goes to a switch (accepts all vlans) then our router has a few subnets 1 (Lan) 10.x.x.x/22 No vlan, public range 192,168,16.1/21 with vlan 20 gets dhcp from our dc on the flat network and all works fine but clients on the wireless can see and ping the 10.x.x.x range which is a no go. I'm sure its something simple but how do I fully separate clients on 192.168.16.1/21 range from 10.x.x.x/22 whilst still getting dhcp from the DC ? many thanks in advance!

Fully Unifi Here - Replaced HP Kit. Vlans setup and working with other switches (Cisco, Netgear,HP) Our setup is simple 1 vlan per floor and using a Edgepro 8 router. Everything is flying ! great setup and no real issues. 1 year warranty is the main difference between UBNT and major brands but its so affordable is cheaper to have some spares onsite (i have 8 spare switches some 8, some 24 and some 48 port) but i do have 42 active switches as im a big site. Unifi controller is simple and easy to use.

Hi All, Im Having issues deploying images with MDT when going over a vlan. No issues with pxe or deployment as such but the computer wont join the domain at the end. If i connect the computer to be imaged to the origional part of the LAN (flat network) all works fine. Any help much appreciated Richard

We use Lumens DC-125 in our Art and Science department and they are very good for close up work with minimal Lag. also use HueHD Cameras as others have said for general purposes.

Thanks all, as the domain started life on 2008R2 we are on DFSR and the forest and domain functional level is 2012R2 as has been updated when I updated before. New policy does apply and replicate. checked permissions and all seems fine. Really strange as all tests pass when running dcdiag (except a warning about drfs replication) and also using the drfs gui tool say success.

Morning @AButters They are new Dc's fresh build with Server 2016 Same domain tho (Just demoted old and promoted new and let replicate etc) have done an Authorative sync which appreared to work but after a few days im still getting issues with sysvol being out of sync

Hi All, Any idea how i fix this.... Tried everything i can think of and am getting no where. Re built from scratch our domain controllers and am getting group policy issues (Not applying) short of Deleting all GPO's im stumped. When i goto the GPMC and do a detect now to see if policys are replicated i get the following screen.

All applied with success apparently ! really strange if I apply the student proxy policy it works immediately. Have even created a new policy and that doesn't work either.. very bizarre!

Hi All, Hope someone can help shed some light on this. Up until Friday afternoon all working fine then today nothing!.... On windows 10 clients internet LAN settings are no longer being applied. when I have a look at where the proxy info is meant to be its empty and the "use proxy server" box is not ticked. the thing is in the Home page tab if I change the homepage it updates and tries to load after the user has logged off and on again so parts of the policy are working. Any ideas ?

What about refurb servers? ICT-Direct do some great offers. Much cheaper than you may think and they have a decent 2yr warranty

I would say 64Gb Ram. And use Hyper-V it honestly makes sense. contact your software licence company and look at the cost of Server 2012R2/2016 STD. it will allow you 2 x VM's on the host. You really want to separate the roles if you can. Keep core network service on 1 vm (DC Role) then put print onto the host and then Sims on the other VM. look at Veeam to do your backup it makes life much simpler. You can even get Veeam for free for the basic version. if you can afford it build 2 hosts and separate roles out further. IT is only going to grow and you will have a decent setup moving forward

How many users are hitting the server ? It looks under speccd to me TBH that's a lot of processes on 1 box. My sims server has 64gb of ram on its own!
