I don't remember him in recent adaptation of Shelter... Although Now I think about it that might have been on Prime rather than Netflix.

Needed something that I didn't have to concentrate on whilst wrapping presents over the break and opened up my "Airwolf" Blu-ray set.

 

Watched the 2-part pilot, the third and started the fourth episode. Like most shows of its era, it's not quite as action-packed as you remember, but still holds up fairly well. When I first saw the pilot, it was back in the dark days when we'd often get them released to rent as movies over here; the "Airwolf" movie had some hilarious dubbing of swear words into the show to gain it an 18 certificate. I remember David Hemmings' bad guy as being much nastier, but I suspect a few decades of increasingly evil baddies has made him seem somewhat less evil. That said, the show still seems darker than its contemporaries.

 

Don't know when I'll have time to start in on more episodes, so it might be a while before I find out the fate of a very young Shannen Doherty.

Finished Norsmen on Netflix.

 

3 seasons of 6x 30 minute episodes.

 

Amusing and surprisingly unromanticised tale of a viking clan. Norwegian, but filmed in English (and apparently also Norwegian for the domestic market). Worth a look, but I suspect that they were expecting to end on Season 2 as it was fairly "final", especially for some characters. The third season is a prequel, to enable most of the cast to return, though some have smaller roles.

Finally up to date with Only Murders in the Building on Disney. Impressed that it still remained fresh in its fourth season and it was nice seeing Steve Martin do some of his physical comedy bits. Selena Gomez's voice is kinda annoying, though, and does it annoy the costume department so much that they give her the worst things they have in stock? Worth a look if you enjoy light-hearted murder mysteries that are more about the characters than the mystery; I'll be there for Season 5.

Mrs. SH and I are just watching the latest season of Slow Horses. I think it's probably the best thing I've seen since the last SH season. Sharp, witty and full of brilliant acting and loads of twists and turns. We love it.

Thanks to the release of Dexter: Original Sin (the prequel series), I have binged Dexter: New Blood (the one set 10 years after the original run) and all of the original run of Dexter, still think it kinda peaked with the Trinity Killer season, was still an enjoyable watch through.

 

I also rewatched Andromeda, forgot how quickly that show went downhill.

Alas, poor Extraordinary (Disney). I was slightly surprised that it managed to get a second season but it isn't getting a third.

Just finished The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh Season 1 on Prime.

 

 

An Indian family relocate to Pittsburgh when the Dad gets a contract with Space X. However they become the prime suspects when a neighbour's house goes up in flames. 8x 30 minute episodes.

 

Not raucously funny, but an amusing watch. A second season is on the way, but I can see problems with the show's format. It's designed so that we're drip-fed the story in the form of interviews by a couple of FBI agents with lots of Rashomon style differing interpretations of what happened (mainly for comedic effect). However the length of time between the Pradeeps arriving in the US and the arson is 2 years. Surely they can't stretch this out over more than another season, especially given "when" Season One ends? If nothing else the little kid will be growing up. Still, if the trailer raises a smile you'll probably enjoy it.

Finished Nautilus on Prime.

 

It's basically an origin story for Captain Nemo (Clem Fandango Shazad Latif) and the Nautilus. I had high hopes for this when it was announced, but then it seemed to disappear and Disney, who produced it, finally got cold feet and sold it off to various outlets. It plays a bit like a SciFi/SyFy Channel show from the 90s in terms of apparent budget, though I suspect it was more expensive than it looks, and poor scripting. Captain Nemo also comes across as a bit of an arrogant d***, though that may be true to the novel. On the plus side, the diverse crew is actually fairly diverse even including a Maori. The show was filmed down under, so most of the Brits (nearly all of them are bad 'uns) are Aussies; though, unless you're familiar with the actors, you probably wouldn't guess. While some plot threads were obviously being saved for future seasons and new ones were revealed, the one and only season ends with the sense of "the end of Book One".

 

Worth seeing? I wouldn't rush to see it unless you're in the mood for some undemanding entertainment. Any show that features the two "sides" attempting to resolve their differences via a game of cricket can't be all bad, though.

Finished watching Safe (Netflix) yesterday. Drama/thriller mini-series about a widowed surgeon whose daughter goes missing. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it was good, I liked it. But all the Scandinavian thriller series I've watched set the bar way too high.

Currently loving the new season of Severence, it deliveres answers and new questions in spades, gripping stuff, I also finished Wolf Hall, which I thought was excellent.

But one I'm currently semi-binging is Loudermilk, where Ron Livingston plays Sam Loudermilk, a burnt out former music journalist who heads up an addicts support group. It's got a great dry sense of humour, and never belittles the addiction side of the story.

Finally gave the Interview with the Vampire series a go over the weekend and I can confirm it is Superb!

 

Much better than the film and just beautifully executed. Gorgeous locations, really well shot and the characters superbly realised!
