  1. £1269 is a great price, and I would do the same, but the iPad Pro price is getting a bit silly though.
  2. Thanks, and the same to everyone here. It’s definitely been a busy year, so I hope you all get a proper break and manage to stay away from the support tickets for at least a little while.
  3. I’d make sure the share permissions are correct and keep the profile as small as possible, otherwise logons can become slow or the profile may eventually corrupt. If they mainly need their documents, desktop and browser settings across PCs, I’d probably use OneDrive Known Folder Move and Edge sync instead.
  4. These days it’s mostly Rocket League and the occasional bit of WoW when I have enough time. I still prefer games I can jump into for half an hour without needing to remember a full storyline or commit to a three-hour session. I’m definitely not as good at competitive games as I used to think I was, though.
  5. For those who support more than one school, how do you usually organise onsite work during the holidays? We’ve got the usual mix coming up: AP changes, switch and cabinet tidying, camera checks, a few small installs, and jobs that need someone physically onsite while the buildings are quieter. The technical work itself is usually straightforward. The harder part is access, keys, site contacts, evidence and sign-off. We also need to make sure our own safeguarding procedures are followed, especially when several schools need work done during the same period. We may use Kinettix for some of the onsite field work when our internal team can’t cover every location, but I haven’t settled on what should stay in-house and what can be handed over. How do others manage this across multiple schools? Do you rely mainly on internal technicians, local contractors, trust-approved suppliers, a field services partner, or a mix depending on the job?
  6. I’ve still got one of those disk boxes somewhere, complete with a few unlabelled floppies that I’m slightly afraid to open. It could be old coursework, a DOS boot disk, or absolutely nothing. The Time Computers stories bring back memories too. Those machines probably taught a lot of people more about upgrades and repairs than any course ever did. One bad graphics card and a 56k modem later, and suddenly you had an IT career.
  7. Loved the trailer, thanks for sharing. Will watch this one next.
  8. Link: Uniqode's QR Code Generator Easy-to-use & safe QR code generator, free for static QR codes (GDPR/SOC2 Type 2/HIPAA/ISO compliant) I spent a lot of time looking for a reliable generator, with good reviews and, after using it for a while, I can finally say I recommend this one. *Here is a bonus video I stumbled upon while doing my research. It's a bit long but I really enjoyed watching it:
  9. What did you go for eventually? We are looking for something similar for my nieces (10 and 11), I noted down I couple of ideas I found here.
  10. Finished watching Safe (Netflix) yesterday. Drama/thriller mini-series about a widowed surgeon whose daughter goes missing. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it was good, I liked it. But all the Scandinavian thriller series I've watched set the bar way too high.
  11. I wanted to love Gemini for Google Workspace, but wow, the pricing is outrageous! When I saw how much the Education Premium plan costs, I thought vacation could cost less. Then I bumped into this thread and got even more worried about the non-licensed users' data might be used for model training? Yeah, no thanks. Then, while digging around and looking for a solution, I found this comparison article and noticed GPT Workspace offers a free trial, which made it easier to test without any pressure. It also integrates well with my workflow and feels more practical without the hefty price tag.
  12. "Insomnia" by Stephen King - which is contradictory cause I love a good gripping psychological thriller but I also suffer from insomnia.
  13. Pure comedy gold.
  14. Looks so cool, now I wish I got that one. Maybe next year.
  15. Happy New Year everyone, may it be better than every year before this one and finally get a year that's chill for all of us!
