CAWJames Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 Really enjoying The Umbrella Academy, even the set musical pieces, which I usually hate(yes, I'm looking at you, Buffy:"Once more, with Feeling"). Also pilot of Doom Patrol. Some nice diversion from the usual Marvel stuff
Arthur Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 Heard many good things about Punisher though. I'm not that bothered about Jessica Jones, but I will definitely miss the Punisher (especially since I've only just started watching S2). 😭
mavhc Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 To be fair, wasn't Jessica Jones universally panned? I tried watching it but couldn't get through it. I got up to the point where Doctor Who Mr. Brainwashy Man made that Policemanofficer jump off the building, and I still wasn't into it. Heard many good things about Punisher though. No, praised, 88% on RT. Punisher 66%, Daredevil 75%, Luke Cage 89%, Iron Fist 38%, The Defenders 77%
mavhc Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 This week I have been mostly watching: Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes On Television season 1, so meta it might hurt you, but I love that kinda thing. Twist ending was great. 1
LeMarchand Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Can't say the cancellation of the Netflix Marvel line is a surprise. I was more surprised that some of the new Marvel shows that have been announced will be on Hulu rather than the new Disney streaming channel - until I learned that Disney own part of Hulu. I haven't been able to get to the end of a Netflix/Marvel show...
Simcfc73 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 I just binged watching Punisher.. used to love his grunt when he went in for a beating. Reckon he could best Superman.
HarryMonkey Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Watching tv is bad for the planet don't you know. We're all going to die
LeMarchand Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Now up-to-date with The Magicians Season 4. Maintaining the same high standard of S3 - I don't know why this isn't more popular.
mavhc Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Watching tv is bad for the planet don't you know. We're all going to die Well, it's bad for yourself, but then again if everyone dies sooner that'll help. You're The Worst is back, as is Man Like Mobeen.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Really enjoying The Umbrella Academy, even the set musical pieces, which I usually hate(yes, I'm looking at you, Buffy:"Once more, with Feeling"). Also pilot of Doom Patrol. Some nice diversion from the usual Marvel stuff We watched the first episode of this last night. Excellent stuff, serious and funny, likable characters. Will watch more tonight!

browolf Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Watched it all and it was fantastic. Quite often I start getting bored before the end, but not this, gets better
korifugi Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 The Umbrella Academy: Same here, watched it all, and now hoping they commission a second season. Loved the little fun musical set pieces - certainly "I think we're alone now" as it made all of the characters feel more 'human'. 1

It linked them all together as a family. Oh and best CGI chimp ever! 1
ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Oh and best CGI chimp ever! By far! They've done a cracking job with him!
phreak Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 I am close to finally catching up with Vikings. Halfway through Ep 19 of Season 5. Must admit this last season is a little more hard going than the previous ones, or perhaps I am just a bit worn out having caught up by binging season 3/4 over the last month. Also started on The Umbrella Academy. Only on Episode 2 but it looks like it has some serious potential!
LeMarchand Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 This week I have been mostly watching: Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes On Television season 1, so meta it might hurt you, but I love that kinda thing. Twist ending was great. Thanks for this; gave it a miss when it started as I thought it was about one of those "famous only in the US" people and it was some sort of reality show - been enjoying it so far.

You mean you've not heard of Ryan Hansen? So you're like everyone else in the show then. Helps if you've seen Veronica Mars
LeMarchand Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Watched the first Doom Patrol. Much better (and more expensive-looking) than I was expecting, though the FX were variable and the boobies and swears were gratuitous - though the biggest shock was Brendan Fraser, who I took a while to recognise. Can't remember pre-Robotman Cliff being such an a-hole, either. Otherwise, looking forward to finding time for ep 2.
unixman_again Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Callan - it's great to see the swinging light bulb again.
admars Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Last night we watched the new Louis Theroux - The Night in question (about sexual assault accusations on uni campus)- interesting as always, no answers. Strange there being "assembly" for freshers on how to behave Reminds me of that tea analogy that did the rounds about you wouldn't force someone to drink a cup of tea if they changed their mind, I don't remember ever being taught how to treat ppl, I'm pretty sure I was a typical teenage boy, and just got used to not getting what I wanted Sometimes wish he would return to light and fluffy stuff for change of pace.
admars Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 Change of tone last night - watched the first episode of the new Alan Partridge series - actually in some ways similar "did they really just say that?" Very funny, and also uncomfortable, but this time in a good way The lady presenter was brilliant as well.
Reboot_IT Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Just finished Ricky Gervais' After Life. I can't recommend it highly enough. My Fiance isn't his biggest fan but she loved it too.
FishCustard Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Watched "Love, Death, and Robots" on Netflix - short sci-fi stories. Some were amazing ("Beyond the Aquila Rift", "Lucky 13", "Helping Hand"), others just meh - definitely worth a watch though.
NickoTheSicko Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 in terms of Netlifx, id probably say Sex Education or After Life or Jack Whitehall - Travels with my Father but for TV in general i love a bit of American Pickers!
