Dos_Box Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 So, who here is going to take the plunge on the 29th July? I've created a poll so please let us know. I shall be taking the plunge (bandwidth permitting) installing it here in the EuGeek ofice to my desktop machine. I'll be sad to see the back of Start8 1
fiza Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 At home yes but at School no. Probably not until next summer for school.
sted Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 probably on my laptop might hang fire a week on the surface pro
3s-gtech Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I will. However, I'll be buying a second SSD, copying my current install to it, and upgrading that. Lots of old games that I've coaxed into working on 7 that I don't want to lose!
hardtailstar Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Will be at home and school onto my machines but at school we will not be deploying it until happy with it.
FN-GM Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I won't as I will be on a plane 40,000ft in the air! When im back I will
abillybob Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I will be on my home install Won't bother looking into it at the school until around next summer when server 2016 comes out!
halbaradkenafin Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 On both of my home devices I will, haven't decided if I will for my work device but might try it out over summer here to see how it works out for day to day use. 1
JRowley Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I'll be putting it on a new SSD at home, and I'll probably do my work pc over the summer just to get used to it for when we do eventually do the upgrade. I'm already running 8.1 at work whereas almost all the rest of the site is on 7.
DevilsAdvocate Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I'll be installing it on my home PC and office PC. No intention of rolling it out across site any time soon though. 1
EvLPhenom Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 i will be on my work laptop just so i can get used to it before its eventual deployment although we only have 8.1 in one room at the moment.
synaesthesia Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Damn right I will be. Have been very happy with 8.1 but likewise using Start8. TBH I've been using 10 for a while as secondary, but will actually install from scratch this time as 8.1 was an upgrade.
LosOjos Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I've gone 'will see how it goes' in the poll as this will be my main course of action, however I have a laptop I use for dev work that I'll upgrade straight away. The rest of my machines will wait a few months until the inevitable early bugs and security holes are fixed

unixman_again Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 At work we'll probably go W10 in 12-18 months time. At home, never, ever, going to run an M$ o/s.
Davit2005 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 On Windows 7 here and no plans to upgrade to Windows 10 till next Summer.
JRowley Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Will there be a Win 10 ISO availabe on the 29th do you know? They haven't confirmed/denied it yet. The only thing related is that an exec stated you would be able to get an ISO and flatten your machine, but no dates involved. 1
featured_spectre Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I will for home, but for work, it remains to be seen what server 2016 is going to be bringing to the table.
MartinT Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I'll be installing it both at work and home. Been on the TP for some time so there won't be any surprises.
CAM Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Not used Win 10 at all yet but I will be jumping right in with my home machine from 8.1!
LeMarchand Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 At work: will start on an image for possible deployment. One site has plans for a new suite + laptops and makes sense to look at it as they're mainly on 7. At home: will wait until I've had a good play with the release version as I'm not impressed with the preview thus far. May well leave my HTPC on 8 as the interface particularly suits, more likely to upgrade the main machine but I'm one of those who likes the Win 8 interface (can't see why it's so reviled). Also, suspect that a clean install would be best and only did that a few months back on my main machine (and still have yet to finish sorting through old files and folders).
aleach2 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I will be going to Windows 10 on my home desktop and laptop as soon as it comes out. We have planned to rollout Windows 10 to all users at work next summer (2016). Allows us to plan the rollout and get group policy locked down correctly etc.
NB9457 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Having used 10 since day one at home, I'll definately be installing it on my work laptop. I've had very little bugs and on an SSD it feels like the fastest OS I've used. Not tried it on a domain yet, so as for rolling it out through our schools, it'll have to be tested with all the ancient software/staff first.
MartinT Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Testing it on our domain will be one of my main activities this summer, that will decide whether we go with deployment together with SSD upgrades or not.
CAM Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 When is Windows 10 on physical media being released? I have a Vista machine that needs to be wiped soon before I take a hammer to it!
