Tesla Posted December 19, 2018 Author Posted December 19, 2018 Enjoying Xenoblade 2 currently, hoping to get through a lot of it throughout xmas break......... I think i'll be getting Shenmue and the Mega Drive Collection over Xmas, so may tuck into them after. 1
flyinghaggis Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 (edited) Steam sale starts tomorrow just in time for the Xmas holidays so will no doubt grab a few games. I picked up a Windows Mixed Reality VR headset in the sales so will be checking out the VR section on steam https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/steam-sale-winter-autumn-2018-dates/ Edited December 19, 2018 by flyinghaggis
DeGrimmy Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 I played the new PUBG map last night, and I think this one's my favourite so far. Much more variation in towns, more houses and small villages dotted around, and it's snowy! We almost won on our 2nd game, and we hardly ever win. The G36C is pretty nice, too. I had 5 or 6 kills over a couple of games, and most were with the G36C.
sted Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Enjoying Xenoblade 2 currently, hoping to get through a lot of it throughout xmas break......... you can just power through the story but if you can take your time. fwiw i think my first completion time was about 100 hours or so (my 3rd im not going to count new game plus 2nd go) took a lotlonger because i was playing on hard more (dont do that at least unless its new game plus its a lot less fun lol) going to try and get further in xenoblade chronicles x over the holiday (finish friday) im enjoying it not as much as 2 but its still fun (and being able to jump ridiculously high is fun it almost feels like botw at times in that you can go anywhere but you cant climb so there are places i cant get to yet but i dont want to rush the story missions just so i can) I did the xbox year in review thing and this year spend 108 hours or so on my xbox over half thats nier automata (55 hours 27 in forza horizons 4 and the rest is odds and ends). ive actually spent almost as much on my wii-u (and expect that to go higher before im back to my xbox) currently at ~80 hours on that though the switch definitely wins on hours by quite a bit probably 5-600 hours lol

Especially as some of my blades are next to useless in my party (like the guy who has minerology so gets better rocks from collection points). Maybe it's just a mechanic i need to get used to. Is it a JRPG thing, or a xeno thing?
Garacesh Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 That sounds like a Xeno thing. Having content locked behind your party's skills in JRPG's is reasonably common, but I can't think of a game I've played that does it to that degree.

Is it a JRPG thing, or a xeno thing? it can be a bit of a pain i agree but if you are stuck needing level 6 fire say you can just chuck any old common blades on all the characters to get past it its cumulative which helps (but there are a few points iirc where you need odd specific skills that only certain stoey blades have levelled up) tbh i never found it that annoying as there is always side stuff to do that will help (and if you just need to get affinity up just buy the cheapest foods you can and put all the blades you need to increase on 1 character and sit there and force feed them for a few mins lol)
LeMarchand Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Apparently the bar pianists in RDR2 are currently playing Christmas Carols.
sted Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 (edited) finished xenoblade chronicles x over Christmas. I definitely prefer it to 1 bu t prefer 2 to x. I do love the more exploration focused idea behind x and the massive single map not to mention the huge jumps your characters can do (and the total lack of fall damage). im glad they simplified some of the systems in 2 as its much easier to play oh and walking/flying round in big giant mechs is also fun esp with the flight music again the people who do the xenoblade music do a great job of it started ps4 spiderman on Saturday. well its a game im not sure i get all the hype around it. So far its ok but i wouldnt say its great Edited January 7, 2019 by sted
BKGarry Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 I am currently playing Assassins Creed Origins at the moment. Although I am enjoying it, they have cut out even more of the modern day plot (well form what I have seen so far) I am almost near the end of the story, but I am having to do some more leveling to get ready for the final couple of story missions on my list.
korifugi Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Finished Darksiders: Warmastered Edition and Black Mirror over the break, I've also been bought Shadow of the Tomb Raider, FarCry5 and Dad of Boy. Instead though - I've decided to break out Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. Absolutely brilliant - harkens back to the good old days of Star Ocean: The Second Story and Til the End of Time.

LeMarchand Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Been playing Dragon Age 2 and quite enjoying it; not sure why people don't seem to rate it. My only real complaints are that some of the dialogue sections are too lengthy (if you want to explore all options), I can't find a way to skip scenes/dialogue I've already had and some of the dialogue summaries don't match what is then said. I've unwittingly flirted with a few people... Oh, and the big "Deep Roads Expedition" was a bit short.
sted Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 ok so spiderman ps4. ive been playing it for 3 weeks now (only playing at weekends) and i dont get why this game got so much praise. To me its pretty meh, im about 2/3 of the way through the main story and i have more fun with some of the silly side quests (like catching pigeons) than the actual main story. In the start going round and grabbing all the rucksacks fixing the towers was fun but the combat isnt (maybe im just bad at it) and i cant say the story is really grabbing me. Not to mention like horizon zero dawn its definitely in uncanny valley territory when you see people speaking in cutscenes
ICTDirect_Dave Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Bought this on saturday... I dind't strap my rift controller to my bat, but it was tremendous fun regardless. A tenner well-spent
deanimate Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Don't Starve Together. Playing with a friend. We both suck but it's fun figuring out how to survive and make a better base
sted Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 anyone else got the division 2 beta to play this weekend?
Garacesh Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 anyone else got the division 2 beta to play this weekend? Quite a few of us on Discord have mentioned getting it. Should be good! Dark Zone is apparently open this time! I do hope they've unlocked all the skills though. It just didn't feel right playing without the Pulse. I had a few terrain unload issues with the alpha, only once or twice, but hope they've fixed that too.
PotNoodleTech Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 anyone else got the division 2 beta to play this weekend? Is it closed or an open beta? I wouldn't mind giving it a bash but I aint on no VIP lists.
Garacesh Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 (edited) Is it closed or an open beta? I wouldn't mind giving it a bash but I aint on no VIP lists. Closed. The signups for alpha/beta access were aaaages ago. I think you're guaranteed beta access if you pre-order.. but, golden rule: no pre-orders. Ever. Servers are trash though, or at least they were when I played it around about 6pm GMT. They were stable during the Alpha but last night they kept booting me out with error Delta-03 every five to sevenish minutes. Took me three tries just to get the starter mission done! I'll probably give it another bash tomorrow, see if they've settled. Most skills are still locked - you're still only allowed the Drone, Rolling Mine and Turret. Edited February 8, 2019 by Garacesh
Theblacksheep Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Didnt have a great time in Division2, not only booting out halfway through two missions twice in a row, the framerate dropped to 5fps for a friend. Hopefully these are both server side and correctable.
bald_pig Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 It seemed like the division 2 beta was stealing resources from other Origin games last night, The Apex servers were running like treacle, @DalekSec had issues just signing into Origin!

The Division 2 is Ubisoft, so Uplay! EDIT: I've been playing Apex as well, and I've found that I must be unlucky. My mates and I have played for 2 nights, and whilst I'm playing, no wins. They carry on after I go to bed and they win games. To be fair, I struggle even to get kills! I was just starting to get good at PUBG, and then Apex releases... Edited February 8, 2019 by DeGrimmy
