Thinking again about the One M8 for me ... but is there any way of getting a phone to use the default Android notifications pull down?

Get the Google Play Edition of the M8 if you can find one or convert the regular M8 to the Google Play Edition? I think there's a thread on XDA that has instructions on how to do this.

If you mean the pull down thing where you can expand on the notification. Pull down to view them and pull down again for settings. My HTC m7 has that with the new lollipop update. And so does the M8 on lollipop. If that's what you mean?

Yeah, that's what I meant - that's the way my N4 works with Lollipop, and I really like it. Looking at YouTube videos of the M8 with Lollipop, though, it looks like they've kept it fairly vanilla and not gone the LG route of filling it full of rubbish (the G2 was particularly bad for it, I gather).

Converting to the GPE is an intruiging idea, mind you... although I think that'd strip out all the interesting camera stuff.

What I really shouldn't do now is go up town and look at these devices in the o2 shop because then I will crack and buy one.

I love it how we're all so weak when it comes to new tech!

Weak! I've been trying to tell myself for weeks I'm going to save some cash and not upgrade, just go on giffgaff and stay with my M7, no chance!

I'm developing a rather unhealthy obsession for looking at phone reviews.

I wish the new models were already released so I could take the plunge and move on!

Aren't we all, constantly on android central, YouTube videos on phones and GSM arena!

Oh my god! Theres too much!

And yes they are keeping us in suspense! We need our tech fix now. Just get it over with and choose a phone.

And now the S6 is out for pre order, things get worse,

I was set on the HTC but the Galaxy does look nice [emoji35]

I keep going round in circles too!

That's the problem when they're not out yet!

And yeah we've still got few more weeks for the Galaxy and just over a week for the HTC.

What you gonna do?

I want to see one in my hand before I commit to a £600 device.

My partner needs a new phone so I might get the OnePlus for the short term and give it to her if it's massively inferior to the HTC/Samsung.

I'm getting married in August so it's pretty irresponsible of me to wax a load of cash I want rather than need.

Unfortunately I'm known for irresponsible purchases!

Such a gentleman, I can see why she said yes :p

Haha, very good @sonofsanta :)

If she took better care of the phones I'd be more inclined to get her something expensive. She's literally on her 5th phone in the last 12 months!

This is what she is currently using:

A OnePlus would be a huge upgrade!

In my defence, I've just bought her a £600 saddle for her horse for her birthday, so she won't complain.

I think this is part of why I'm itching for a new phone... my wife has the very lovely Lumia 930, my daughter has the new Moto G which is at least as good as my Nexus 4 and with a better screen... I need to retake my seat as King of the Tech Castle!

Also, if she's gotten through that many phones, aren't the Sony's waterproofed? Might help a bit. I don't know how far down the range the protection goes though, 'cos the Z3 ain't cheap...

She's just very careless with them to be honest. She normally loses them!

Sounds like you both have good enough reasons to get yourselves new phones, treat yourself. [emoji1]

It won't take much to twist my arm!

Go for it then, like I said you need a good phone to take good wedding photos, that probably wouldn't go down to well as an excuse for your wife to be, but what the heck,if you can spend 600 and a saddle I'm sure it's acceptable to spend it on a phone.

I agree with you there! And to be fair to her, she's as good as gold. She'd never tell me to not do something.

But we do have 100 guests coming to the wedding and it's going to cost a fortune!

When I look at the OnePlus & the HTC side-by-side:

OnePlus 64GB - £235.99 (If I can get one)

HTC One M9 32GB - £600ish

I think the only thing the htc has over it is camera, and possibly the fact it plays .mkvs (but I'm sure there will be a format option if you copy something to the device and it cannot play the file).

It's interesting that the one+ his been out a year and the new htc that isn't out yet has a similar spec.

The price difference is the biggest factor for me when I look at it. The burning question ...... is the higher build quality on the HTC worth £365 more???

I would simply say, YES

I know it's a lot more but I would say Yes.

And I understand the wedding will cost obvious that is,

But if you are getting a phone anyway, you may as well get one you'll be happy with,

And think, it's not just how it looks, what is the Oneplus one software like? Do they receive updates often, bug fixes etc for lollipop, there more questions you need to ask yourself, and also I don't suppose you can see the Oneplus in store can you?
