aleach2 Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 There is some great stuff on this thread. I love photography, I personally don't think I'm very good yet but that doesn't deter me 2
Stone_Charli Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 I do the odd wedding for friends and family but don't want to post pics here without their permission.. and this is all I could find on my long-neglected Flickr.. so here's some I took in New York a couple of years ago! I was just starting out and only had my 18-55mm kit lens at this stage, but I still love them! ..and a bonus one of my dog! 1

SteveM555 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Thought I would chip in... with my Flickr page. Starting to get into Photography, although still need some decent equipment! Id love a better lens but for anything around 300mm with IS it's getting expensive. Quite happy with some of the photos though and I am just starting out.
aleach2 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Cheers @ChickenDhansak. It's taken at Saltburn-by-the-sea. It took ages to get the contrast right to make it look good on canvas. It looks a bit washed out in the photo, but once printed it looks nice.

It's worth looking at old manual lenses on eBay, you can get mount adapters for most (i.e. if you have a canon, you can get M42 -> EF adapters so the lens will fit your camera) Downside is it'll be manual focus, so not a lot of good for fast moving subjects (unless you set to infinity focus) but it's a good way to get some good quality glass for cheap and would be fine for shooting perched birds if you're patient Depending on your camera, a lot of modern ones (particularly CSCs) have manual focus helpers; this shows in-focus areas highlighted in red on the back screen. Very handy for using manual lenses! My favourite lens for portraits is an old Zuiko 1.4f 50mm - takes stunning photos and only cost me £40 2

My favourite lens for portraits is an old Zuiko 1.4f 50mm - takes stunning photos and only cost me £40 Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely pick up some manual lenses if they'll work ok. I have a Canon 1200D and I do have a small collection now, I got my new 22mm lens today for macro and hopefully some photos of the sky/stars at night. 55-250mm f4.5-5.6 USM IS (I would really like to either sell/part ex it and get something upto a 300mm or 400mm though as I enjoy wildlife photography) - Most used. 50mm f1.8 (I got this second hand around £55 off eBay) 24mm f/2.8 STM Lens (Got this today!!) 18-55mm (not sure on specs, I got this as a kit with the camera) - It's hardly ever used though, I think i've taken one photo with it. I think the only thing I would like is a better zoom lens, however the original Canon lenses go anywhere from £800 - £1k+!! I've seen the fixed zoom ones a lot cheaper but I would prefer autofocus I think and would also prefer a lens that isn't worth more than my car...
