DeGrimmy Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 I also went to see Blade Runner 2049 last night. I really liked it, and personally, I think it's better than the first. The action was fleeting, but that gave it all the more impact. I wasn't quite prepared for the length of the film, but with ticket prices now, I'm glad it was on the longer side.
LeMarchand Posted October 22, 2017 Author Posted October 22, 2017 The Transporter Refueled Ed Skrein takes over behind the wheel from Jason Statham and does a reasonable job. This time Frank is hired by a group of women with an extremely convoluted revenge plan. It's no masterpiece, and bears the marks of post-production problems (a couple of scenes don't "flow" with the story) - but worth the £1 I paid for it (on BluRay from Poundland).
CJLane Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 All Eyez On Me Good movie about the life of Tupac Shakur. It was very interesting throughout the film. Learnt more about himself and the industry a lot more, just through the film. 3/5 stars.
LeMarchand Posted October 25, 2017 Author Posted October 25, 2017 Thor: Ragnarok If you thought the trailer looked fun, you should enjoy this. The ladies of the house weren't as keen as I was but, as a mainly reformed Goth, Cate Blanchett's Hela was fine. Also, not all the best/funniest bits were in the trailer. Worth a look if you're not suffering from superhero fatigue. 1

May just go and see this after work as they have just revamped the Vue cinema here in Preston (large reclining seats as standard) and it's less than a mile away
just_david Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 Caught Thor last night at the odeon, £4 for 2 tickets, its like the 90's again. It was what guardians of the galaxy 2 should of been. A proper return to form for the marvel films after a few average entries. Possibly one of the best. 1

It was more like Thor: The Comedy. Still very enjoyable though
VeryPC_Colin_M Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 IT Bill Skarsgård put in a great performance, but I think my wife (who loves her horrors) enjoyed it more than I. I just kept finding myself giggling at inappropriate times and then getting nudged in the ribs.

Still very enjoyable though Absolutely agree. Thor is NOT really a comedic figure so whilst the film was fun, it wasn't really in the genre. Thor isn't Starlord 1

pcstru Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Death of Stalin. Armando Iannucci's rapid fire satire of the death of Stalin and power struggle among the soviet central committee. Very good. 2
mavhc Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Gold Rush (1925 and 1942 versions) Older version is better. A dramatic comedy romance. Starvation and attempted cannibalism are an odd basis for a comedy, but it works.
Scotbynature Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Went to see Geostorm last night, thats two hours of my life I will never get back. Story line had more holes than a strainer, effects were terrible, the water rushing in Dubai looked horrendous and the acting of everyone, especially the president was awful. The good news is Great Britain must have escaped unscathed as it did not appear once, my friend thinks it was a conspiracy, not sure what of but a conspiracy none the less, haha. In other words, save your money.

Scotbynature Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 Did you not google it first? I didnt want to as I really wanted to believe it was going to be good. How foolish of me.

If you keep going to see bad movies they'll keep making them, it's your own fault. Just google the name of the film and you get a number, if it's <70% avoid it, only takes a second to save £10 and make movies better.

Yeah, but then you'd miss out on so-bad-they're-good movies like The Adventures of Pluto Nash.

Totally disagree with this, and the whole "Rotten Tomatoes" mentality. By all means read reviews and watch trailers to form an opinion, but you don't have to follow the herd. Many films that are now hailed as classics were hated on release, and I've loved some films that most hated (in recent years The Legend of Tarzan and Winter's Tale spring to mind). That said, even I decided to save my money when it came to Geostorm. I'll watch it when it turns up on Sky Movies for free, though! 1

Follow the critical herd, not the general public herd, I hear they have an average iq of 100.
phreak Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 I watched Bladerunner 2049 last week and I must say that by the end of the movie I was waning a bit (2 people walked out before Deckard even meets with K), I still found it thoroughly enjoyable. One thing that I will say is that it felt, sounded and looked like a Bladerunner movie through and through. I also watched the Dark tower. Wasn't that impressed by it.
