wesleyw Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Does anyone know of a recylcing firm that collects in the West Midlands Area? Wes
Pumaedition Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 We use a company called Recycool. Sign up and grab an account and they will come and pick them up, as well as give you a little bit of money for the cartridges/toners recycled Recycool
Andrew_C Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 We either send back to mfr if post-free label is provided, or give to a charity that collects for hearing dogs for the deaf.
Netman Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 We donate them to the Happy Days children's charity - they provide trips and holidays for sick kids. They collect them free of charge. http://www.happydayscharity.org/support_recycling.html
markman Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 We use the charity Actionaid (http://www.actionaidrecycling.org.uk). They take toners, ink cartridges, olg PDS's and mobile phones as well.
contink Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Just as a note, if you're "lucky" enough to have a department that invested in Canon Pixma printers (PGI-5K and PCI-8C/M/Y cartridges) then you can't recycle them too easily.. they get binned... BUT... I'm collecting them (although not in 1000's!) to make use of the chips and cartridges in various test and other rigs.. so, if you have any please drop me a line via PM..
timbo343 Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 We use a company called Recycool. Sign up and grab an account and they will come and pick them up, as well as give you a little bit of money for the cartridges/toners recycled Recycool Is this true?? do they actually give you money back? How do they send it, cheque form? Tim PS, not going to work for us anyway... we use compats PPS, but we are currently using dogs trust, 01635 876900 and they are a free connection, plus they give you a cardboard box to put them in, tape that up, ring them and they collect.
localzuk Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 timbo343 - they give points towards their rewardsforschools scheme (50 points per cartridge, 250 points per phone recycled). An example of the rewards available - an optical mouse is 3000 points. An imac is upwards of 60,000. IIRC anyway.
steve Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Is this true?? do they actually give you money back? How do they send it, cheque form? Up to recently they sent out cheques, now they do a BACS transfer to the school accounts. We've raised about £200 this year from carts being donated from businesses, parents, etc.
projector1 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 we use cartridge cashback. We pack them up and let them know the quantities. They collect and send us a payment
maniac Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 we use collect 4 school http://www.collect4school.co.uk/ who give us a small amount of money for those cartridges that can be re-used. Never been sure if the school actually gets any money, but just glad to be rid of them as their collections are free! Also they don't care what they take, none of this we'll only take certain cartridges business, they take the lot. Also they'll provide collection boxes free of charge, and collection envelopes which can be given to students to bring in cartridges from home for recycling. We've never done this, but the idea is good. Mike.
Ben_Stanton Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I use http://www.emptycartridge.co.uk for all my used toners. Their list of acceptable cartridges/toners is quite extensive plus THEY GIVE YOU MONEY BACK AND PICKUP IS FREE! Currently getting around 32p for the minolta and 20p ish for the Oki's. I couldn't decide or didn't really agree with some of the 'charitable' recylcling companies. Example would be Oxfam - they use a third party that collects the units but then oxfam only get a small kick-back from that. With the guys I use, we get a cheque from them and we can donate that to any charity we see fit.
Ayaz Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 does anyone have a pricelist for collect4school? I've had a look at recycool and am surprised at how little they pay for toner cartidges.

User3204 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I buy toner from Lasertech UK Ltd and when they deliver they also will collect, I dunno how much money they give back it usually just goes towards purchases, and it depends on whether they're originals or compatibles. It's a franchise, and the local guy is good, so whether other franchisees are any use or not is a different matter.
Sylv3r Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 does anyone have a pricelist for collect4school? I've had a look at recycool and am surprised at how little they pay for toner cartidges. Even if it a small return its still more than just putting them straight into the bin.
elsiegee40 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I collect our Toners and take a bag full to the local Help the Aged shop on the High Street about once a month when I'm out shopping.
webman Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 I take them home and they get collected by the Great North Air Ambulance.
Rowley_THS Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 We use either The Recycling Factory which pays cash or Infotone which sends Marks and Spencer vouchers. The Recycling Factory also supplies post-paid recycling envelopes bar-coded with our account, so pupils can put their own cartridges in the envelopes and post them off, and our account is credited with the value.
Ayaz Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Apparently recycool charge £4 per collection which rather defeats the object. Collect4school have our school address wrong so I cant sign up to them yet. I've sent 2 emails to them and no reply, its like getting blood from a stone.
LeMarchand Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Collect4school have our school address wrong so I cant sign up to them yet. I've sent 2 emails to them and no reply, its like getting blood from a stone. We used to use them, not sure if we ever saw any cash (dodgy office practices...), but they haven't replied to any emails of late. The good thing was that they didn't seem fussy about what they took.
Ayaz Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 another company that seems promising Money To Schools
