penfold_99 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Swing from the rafters Their Probably leaving it to the last minute so people have to wander round completely lost trying to find a stand and end up talking to other stands. Last year folks had planned their route like a military operation and If you weren't on their list they didn't visit.
vikpaw Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Well there is a blank plan in the iOS app, but that's no good. I'd really like to be able to mark off places on that, but last year i lost my favourites list with each update The iOS app has updated ok and appears to have the new info which i guess is a start.

Little-Miss Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Mine don't. After i said that last night i realised that they had got it wrong and that it hadn't been updated at all....

DorsetTech Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I've managed two wangle two days up there. Looking forward to it - but quite scared as my colleagues aren't coming up until the Friday and I'll be all on my lonesome

DorsetTech Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Lonesome geeks always welcome on the edugeek stand Thanks elsiegee40 - will come over (but I'm just a poor apprentice - so half geek - if that).
elsiegee40 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) Thanks elsiegee40 - will come over (but I'm just a poor apprentice - so half geek - if that). Poor apprentices even more welcome. You can have great fun on the other stands - see all the demos and not be able to sign up for anything because you have no budget to spend. Not all edugeeks use their educational job title on their badges for this reason, e.g. GLaDOS Wrangler (@X-13) Edited January 16, 2014 by elsiegee40
X-13 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 e.g. GLaDOS Wrangler (@X-13) It's "GLaDOS Wrangler" this year too... I can't think of anything better. I was toying with something involving morality cores, but I couldn't get it to work properly. [Perhaps "Intelligence Core" would have been more appropriate considering some of the staff here...]
Gonk Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 @Millgate Sadly I'm not going to be attending this year It would have been nice to meet up! I now look after school reports as well as the IT and our Year 11 reports are due out the same week as BETT. Have fun you lucky little otters, that get to go! Gonk PS: Send me free stuff... Please! 1
ChrisJ Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) The floor plan my be blank but switch maps to area and it thinks excel is in Birmingham!! That would have made it a lot easier. Getting a coach down and I hope it doesn't do the full M6 & scenic tour of London again. Edit: Just looked and the area map is the NEC. Maybe a sign of things to come? Edited January 16, 2014 by ChrisJ
Ben-BSH Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Will look forward to seeing you Friday! (you are on my offical "to-visit" list )

Edit: Just looked and the area map is the NEC. Maybe a sign of things to come? Not the Link2ICT party bus again? That was utter madness! haha I'm making my own way down Thursday evening!
rickjames Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Just got an email that Gove is opening the ministerial keynote on Wednesday. I'm sure he'll be get a standing ovation.
X-13 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Just got an email that Gove is opening the ministerial keynote on Wednesday. I'm sure he'll be get a standing ovation. I just got it too. [i'm sure everyone did.] I bet our IT Co-ord is annoyed she isn't down until Friday.
rickjames Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Shame I can't really go unless its the Saturday, also didn't realise Ranulph Fiennes was there either, pah.
Oaktech Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Just got an email that Gove is opening the ministerial keynote on Wednesday. I'm sure he'll be get a standing ovation. Yes... The sort of standing ovation where everyone sits on their hands to avoid launching bottles of wee and stale baked goods at him. 2
Danp Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I will be there on Wednesday, did you say there will be drinking games Luke?
GREED Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Just got an email that Gove is opening the ministerial keynote on Wednesday. I'm sure he'll be get a standing ovation. Yes, I wonder what ill-conceived yet sector-shaking announcement he will make this year (I was there when he disassociated ICT from the curriculum... he needs to better himself this year!)
Oaktech Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Yes, I wonder what ill-conceived yet sector-shaking announcement he will make this year (I was there when he disassociated ICT from the curriculum... he needs to better himself this year!) I predict that the word 'cloud' will feature highly, yet non specifically.
X-13 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Yes, I wonder what ill-conceived yet sector-shaking announcement he will make this year All support staff will be given shock collars. Teachers will be given the controls.
GREED Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 I predict that the word 'cloud' will feature highly, yet non specifically. Big Data I think will be mentioned more. He loves his terms that are so abstract they could mean anything, yet he doesn't understand their meaning, particularly in a school environment!
