Trying to explain to "She Who Must Be Obeyed" why I had to order tickets straight away, together with extra tickets for friiends and family. "If he's that good why is he playing a gig in Kendal?" Erm ......

LEE SCRATCH PERRY |Brewery Arts Centre

finally worked it out ....... he was born in Kendal ....... but the Kendal in Jamaica!!! I can just imagine his manager saying, "I've managed to book you a gig in Kendal in March!!" The Upsetter thinks Hmmm ...... Nice and warm after a European Winter and I can visit some relatives!!!

SURPRISE!!!!!!!

Should be a great gig though!!!

Ok here goes

So far this year: Deftones, Coheed & Cambia, Download Festival, Leeds Festival, Soundgarden, 36 Crazyfists & Alice In Chains.

In the next couple of months: Queens of the Stone Age, Papa Roach, Avenged Sevenfold, Lamb of God, Skindread, The Defiled, Architects & Red Fang.

I think I just realised why I have been broke most of the year!

You could have saved yourself loads of money by not seeing most of those bands as they are rubbish!

... thats sarcasm right?

Cant be serious

Not at all. It's gonna be so good. Again, her image diminishes her ability as a really really good songwriter. It's not normally my thing (I like punk/hardcore for the most part) but she nails it with so many wonderful hooks.

Also wondering how many kids from school I will see there, ah.

That is awesome...I would love to see him one day...would be all over that if it was closer. In fairness I suspect I've missed him in London quite a few times...he's here next year but I won't be in the country :(

Not sure I'd go as far as seeing her live but I do agree with you. I'm not a pop fan by any stretch but she is pretty good

Is this where we come to make embarrassing Taylor Swift confessions then?

I'm not going to rush out and buy her albums [my daughter has them] but I have to say, I've caught a couple of live performances and she's really quite good. Not my cup of tea but can't knock her talent.

I learned a long time ago not to care what other people think about my musical tastes. I guess you wouldn't be too happy if I said I think The Clash are rubish. It amazes me how opinionated people can be!

good god... what has happened to the world

Are you judging Taylor Swift purely on the fact she's a pretty young pop singer? Yeah, she appeals to little girls because she's a famous pop star, but actually she's very talented. Like I said, her music isn't my cup of tea, but she doesn't belong in the same pit as the likes of Miley Cyrus and Girls Aloud - she actually writes songs, plays guitar and can actually sing. Like her music or not, you can't deny she is talented.

..... and for anyone in the Leeds/Huddersfield area (Blatant advertising coming up!!!!) next wednesday ..... my youngest is gigging at https://www.facebook.com/events/244744655677751/ (He's at uni there) He's known as Roxit for some reason! Harry to me!!!

You can hear some of his stuff on Soundcloud, eg https://soundcloud.com/roxitmusic/mutrix-ft-charity-vance-come

I still prefer Thrash ...... but then I am very old!!!!

Best thing about Swifty is despite the jokes about her and all of her songs being about boys etc, she can have a laugh about it which is great. There's only so much you can go on but from watching the Journey to Fearless documentary she seems like a pretty genuine person.

SWIFTY.

I'm trying to see as much live music as I can before I leave London, went to see CHVRCHES last month in Shepherd's Bush and they were amazing, saw Jackson Scott at The Lexington last week which was ok, seeing Austra at Koko a week on Monday which I am so looking forward to, Pawws on 5th December and XFM Winter Wonderland in Brixton in December too :)

I'm sorry you're all wrong, the most exciting tour of this year is the Jamie Lenman tour for his new album. After Reuben (his old band and probably the best band in the Uk ever bar none) split up he didn't release anything for about 6 years, but he released a solo album last week and he's touring for it in december. I have bought tickets to the Brighton and London gigs (both of the London dates) because I am a terrible fanboy.

Going to see The Beat tomorrow. We're preparing ourselves to be the youngest people in the crowd again.

Reel Big Fish and Less than Jake in a few months too!

Oh man I used to love RBF, must have seen them a dozen times! Don't know why I stopped listening to them... think it was probably around the time I went through my "wild" time and don't really remember listening to much other than rave music *cringe*
