Sunnyknight Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 (edited) I didn't feel old when I turned 40 - I felt oddly liberated. Suddenly I really didn't care what people thought of me whereas before I had only pretended not to care. I think not living where you grew up helps as you have no memories of places as they were. I know a lot of you are the age of my children (24,22 and 20) or even younger but what I love about edugeek is seeing that the different generations CAN be friends. Yes, there are differences of opinion and behaviour, but that doesn't stop the friendship, I don't think. I have always been friends with my children's friends - not gone out of my way to be, but children are much more self-confident than when I was young, and whereas I would just say a quiet "hello" to my friends' parents, my children's friends will talk to me as an equal and a friend, which is lovely. Age is just a number - those of you feel old at 25 or even 35 are completely mad and you will see that in later years. Honestly, you don't feel any older inside as the years rack up ! I'm prepared to live while my face has no wrinkles (no offence intended to anyone that has). One little line, and POOF! pcstru Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I don't feel 'old'. I do feel mortal. I remember people like Douglas Adams who died at 50, or James Gandolfini at 51, and I think I'm nearly that age - that could be me. But I don't feel old.

Oh @witch, with that one simple sentence you have filled my day with hope and optimism. May growing old never imply growing up. /clink Also: preferring drinking in pubs to clubs just means you are a person of taste, not necessarily a person of age at 16 years old I could be found in the beer garden of my local with a pint of Guinness and a cigar, extolling the virtues of pubs over clubs. That may have been a little over-eager though, I did back down from such elderly habits after that...

I dunno, I still make some incredibly erratic/stupid life decisions and probably don't need to; I've no big responsibilites to take care of bar staying employed and living where I want to be. Doing alright with that I guess.
Davit2005 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Couple of weeks ago on on 43rd B'day carrying shopping bags home 2 miles I had to stop and put me bags down about 10 times on walk home, me grip and arms were killing me too much lactic acid build up , nothing to do with fitness. A youngster asked me if I needed a hand and I almost , I was only about 300 yards from me door at that stage.

Michael Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Back in the day going to clubs, I'd leave with my ears ringing and smelling like an ash tray! I don't miss it, but I swear the music's louder than it used to be! Technically my hearing should be slightly worse the older I get!

You can let everything go and just be young, though i ALWAYS have to show ID, as i look younger than a fetus. A good night out, will make you all realize how young you truely are inside

I will admit now though, I'm 19 and I've NEVER been clubbing. Hahaha. The lads keep harping on at me to go, so I'll end up being roped in at some point more than likely!

You'll love it! Also, it ain't that expensive. Rounds of beer / ale / cider £20 each round, £30 round for vodka, £40 - 50 round of whiskey and buy 3 bottles of Moet Champ. Cheap champagne, but still! lol EDIT: or buy cases. Case of beer / ale / cider £20. Vodka bottles total £80, Whiskey bottles total £150, Moet bottles total around £200. Tis how we roll!
