Another point worth noting - part of the reason for moving the fence was because the she has a row of massive trees, so when the chaps were digging the trenches for the new concrete posts/gravel boards, they physically couldn't, due to the size of the roots of her conifer trees (I think they are conifers, big thick green things:heh:). So even if she had paid the same situation would of occurred. My gut is telling me, if the deeds state it was my fence, I'll ask for the door to not be secured to the fence. It can stay there, but not screwed to fence. In the hope that it doesn't stay upright and she's forced to do something differently. If the deed's state it's her fence - well I'll be properly annoyed I paid for it, but I'll see if I can come to some arrangement. She if she'll let me cut it level with the fence so we don't have to stare at it for years to come.

Okay thanks. Playing the devil here - if I check tonight and the "T" mark shows on her side. Do I have a leg to stand on? Bearing in mind I paid to have the whole fence replaced and bought forward onto our side of the property line?

Hi all, I'm after some advice and/or recommendations. Apologies for the long post. Myself and my partner are first time property owners and we have a little issue with our "rear" neighbour. To cut a long story short the rear fence line in the garden was in a pretty rough way, old school fence, wooden posts with no concrete support. About 6 months ago we had a storm that ripped it clean out the ground and left a massive hole between the property's. I managed to prop the fence up with some lengths of wood I had in the short term. I was aware the lady had a little dog so was concerned the pup would potentially escape into our garden. So I thought I'd pop round, let her know what had happened to the fence and make her aware that it maybe an issue for the dog if the fence moves again (as it was still windy!) and that the fence was going to need to be repaired/replaced. At the time we didn't have house deeds back and I had no idea who legally owned that fence. I was also very aware this was the first time I was going to have to go and speak with a neighbour about an issue. So I was very conscious to do it nicely. So I popped round explained who I was and the situation with the fence, said about concern for her dog and that the fence would require some maintenance. Before I could even finish my opening sentence she took my head off and basically told me to go away, it was my fence, it needed replacing ASAP and she wasn't interested in helping and it had to be done within days/ a week because she wouldn't be able to control the dog/stop the dog as her mobility wasn't great. I came away in awe. I later found out she had told her/my surrounding neighbours I had been round, was aggressive, demanding money etc. Which just wasn't the case. So I decided to ignore it and paid to have the fence replaced anyway as I wanted it sorted and clearly wasn't going to be getting any assistance. During the replacement fence going in, I asked the fitters to bring the fence line towards our property by about 6 inches. 1 as it made the install easier for them and 2 I was now having the mindset of "Move it towards the house, this is my fence now regardless as we've moved into our property" after the way she handled the situation. Now back to present day - the lady has had someone screw an old interior door to the fence I had installed. This is to create a "panel" between her and her direct neighbour, because the existing panel had failed and the dog was now getting into the garden next door. Firstly I'm really annoyed they've screwed it to my panel without asking permission, meaning if I ever needed, I couldn't get the panel out from the concrete posts and the fact it's such an eye sore for us to be looking at as it stands proud above the panels of my fence. So I am in an conundrum about what to do about it. We don't want to be looking at a gloss white interior door standing proud above the fence line for next 10 years, nor do I want to have a fully battle with a neighbour. We have house deeds back now, so I will check them tonight to see if it can shed on any light on who legally owns the rear fence. But part of me feels, regardless of what the deeds may show, I've paid fully to replace it and had it moved towards my property so it's surely now on my land? Should she have seeked permission? Am I entitled to tell her to unscrew it from the fence? I have attached a very quick drawing (done in Paint, I should've been an artist I know!) to attempt to show what I am getting at. Hi all, Looking for some advice from you all please... Currently all of our school staff records are paper copies kept in filing cabinets in the head of Admin's office under lock and key. She's asked if we could make the transition to having these stored electronically. I totally agree with her and this would be a good move moving forward. I'm just curious on how the best way to store these files would be. My first thought was a bespoke cloud solution, but that would come with a hefty monthly/yearly subscription based on staff numbers I'm sure. Then I thought why can't we utilise O365/OneDrive? For those of you that do store your staff files electronically, could you give me a little insight into how you do it and what solution/services you utilise please? Thanks Liam

I spoke to Google and they directed me to a Google Chrome Credential Passing API that needs to be implemented into the ADFS process for it to work seamlessly. I'm not very confident with ADFS so we managed to get another work around in place. The Chromebooks are being used in location where any student could access them so we forced guest mode and setup policies to install the same Apps/extensions etc as if they were a student. The student then would just navigate to Google classroom and then authenticate via ADFS without the Chromebook then asking for a local data encryption. Problem solved! (For us anyway!)

Hi all, We are in the process of deploying a suite of Chromebooks. We have GSuite enterprise hooked up to Office 365 for user sync and end users are authenticating to the Chromebooks via ADFS. The authentication all works fine but once they've logged in with their AD creds the Chromebook then asks them to set a local data password. It will be unavoidable that we will have students forgetting what they set etc. So we want to disable this step all together. I've taken a look through the device settings we can apply to the Chromebooks but there is nothing that appears to link to the issue. Has anyone come across this/managed to fix it? Thanks Liam

Hi all, I have Office 365 ProPlus Office suite deployed and Teams is included within the suite. I have configured Teams using a User GPO to stop it from auto starting. However it doesn't seem to have sorted the issue completely as now when staff or students login they get a pop up saying that the "Installation has failed & failed to extract installer". Screenshot below: Has anyone else come across this and managed to suppress it/get rid of the error? We don't use it anywhere in school, so maybe a script to remove it entirely from all PCs? Thanks

It's just annoying. People assume it's a 30 second no worries task. Having some aircon units installed, the electricians will need to route the mains through a mains switchboard (switch also supplies the server room). Everything will have to go off, the VM Hosts, the physicals I've got, core switch, SW appliance etc. It's all in there. No heads up either which is the worst.

Day 1 of the Easter hols and just had someone pop in the office with the age old question:Can you just shut down the servers real quick for 40 minutes later today?Which got me thinking, when this happens to everyone else, do you have a shutdown process? Order of which to shut your servers down? Least important first to most important last is a given of course.People just seem to assume shutting everything down is a 2 second process and IT servers are a last second thought. 25+ servers with varying services, but yeah we aren't THAT important.

Thank you all very much for the responses. A little outline of current setup then. All staff and students in O365. Students don't touch it though, staff most certainly do. Windows Server 2012 environment, all staff and students have AD accounts. 200 students ish. 2x trolleys of W7 laptops 6x iPad Minis managed by Meraki MDM Ubiquiti Wi-Fi The school is pretty rural and doesn't have the greatest of internet speeds or reliability. We aren't setup in GSuite, I've never even looked at it really. 1 of the schools we look after uses Google for email but that's as far as it goes. They don't use it for collaborative work or setting student work etc. My initial feeling is that, if we go down this road, it will be a flash in the pan. Yes he might use it in his lessons, but I cannot see the rest of the school getting behind it. They fear change as it is. I'm going to have a sit down and stress my concerns to the HT ASAP. Now that the new guy has been given his O365 mail account he will be chasing the grants. I'm going to try and bat him towards more iPads if I can as it will fit in with the current environment better.

100% something I'll bring up with the head. The school is so tight on money (they couldn't replace a laptop trolley when I bought a bunch of new laptops) so I'd be a bit annoyed if they did become paperweights. Yes I had also spotted this one! That's why I started looking at the slightly higher end Dell's. Although would obviously triple check they are compatible.

Hmmm interesting. I have taken them to O365 so I'm not looking into syncing with Google Apps or setting them up in Google as well as O365. Build quality is an interesting point. They'll get trashed in a primary school if they aren't robust. I have been initially looking at Dell 5190's.

Hi everyone, A new member of staff started at a primary school I look after. He's been previously based at a school that had nothing but Chromebooks and he swore by them. The primary I look after is only small, so hasn't dabbled in Chromebooks. We have laptops and a small selection of iPads currently. The new guy is so eager to get Chromebooks he's already pursuing funding grants to get multiple class sets. I need the down low from techies that have been using these, are they worth looking at?! I have done some quick research and found: - They can be incorporated with AD using Google Enterprise licenses'? Which appears to be an annually paid for service? Is it free for schools maybe? - It's important to make sure we get Chromebooks that will continue to be supported for a few years. Do you tend to incorporate them with your Windows Domains or use them standalone on the Wi-Fi? Any help/advice is welcome. Thanks as always L3

Forza Horizon 4, Dying Light 2, The Division 2 and Anthem all look very very promising. Although I do feel my PC is going to feel old when these get released and all I can manage is medium settings (If i'm lucky)

We find eBuyer are always cheaper than anywhere else. We have given other people a chance to quote such as Softcat, PCS Systems and others. They never come close for the little things, eBuyer are always cheapest and it wastes 3hrs of both our time waiting for them to quote and be more expensive anyway. However if you're looking for refurb kit @ICTDirect_Dave or Encore/Stone (Whatever they are called now) are solid for refurbished kit.
