  1. It's nothing more than a .PDF? One page, the only colour on it is the businesses header. If it can't spool that then it's going out the window.
  2. Yes, we are on the PCL6 driver. Could be it be that the printer just doesn't have to might to handle it? Hence the insufficient memory error?
  3. Right here we go: We have a number of these HP 1515n Colour Printers around the school. When our finance manager rang and reported that she was getting two "PCL XL error" print outs when printing in colour. I thought it would be an easy fix. I tried the usual fix which normally works with these, which was; popping onto the print server/manager and telling the printer to start printing immediately. This didn't work, the errors didn't go away. You can go to any other colour printer around the school and it prints fine. Pop to ANY 1515n though and we get errors!? I can't work it out? Something to do with the RAM? Not enough? I don't want to buy RAM without being sure it will fix the problem. Error 1: PCL XL error Subsystem: TEXT Error: InsufficientMemory Operator: TEXT Position: 2269 Error 2: PCL XL error Warning: IllegalMediaSize Any ideas? Thanks for any responses in advance. Liam
  4. We use Netop's Vision. Pretty good, it was already out rolled here when I started but I've had no big issues with it since of been using it. It's not mega expensive, a hell of a lot cheaper then Impero apparently. Check it out: Classroom Management Software for Schools & Teachers | Netop Vision Hope this helps. Liam

We've been buying Lenovo M58p ThinkCentre's lately! We have managed to get them for around £75 a unit, mind you they are refurbs. But they are still as good as new and faster than some of the Fujitsu i3's we have got for the office machines!
  7. Afternoon Tron, Here is the one we have at our place, never had any problems with it. The keyboard commands are handy to! Thought it was a nice touch, not sure if all KVM's come with keyboard shortcuts/commands. You might be able to find it cheaper if you crawl the internet but I didn't think the price was to bad anyway. http://www.amazon.co.uk/D-Link-DKVM-4U-switch-ports/dp/B000CGXB8K/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1355322840&sr=8-9 Thanks Liam,
  8. Could try this, we use it a lot when activating new machines. Bang the following into a "Notepad": slmgr.vbs -ipk then Start slmgr.vbs -ato Save the above as a ".bat" - Run it as Admin, local should do it, on the machine that needs activating. That will install the key. If it doesn't automatically activate - Go to activate and choose to activate it online. Should pick up on the installed key. Hope this helps. Liam
  9. Recently we have been buying BenQ MX660's for our Maths Department as they are going down the route of using an iPad with Apple TV's for streaming images instead of forking out £600+ on document viewers/visualizers. So in turn we are slowly upgrading projectors to have HDMI connectivity to cover ourselves in case other departments want to do the same. Currently have 3 departments with iPads hooked up to Apple TV's. So if I was you, I'd purchase HDMI ready projectors.
  10. Sounds like a strange one, weird how it still didn't work after you gave full permission to all staff over the "SMART" folders and it was still kicking up a fuss. Have you consulted SMART about the issue? Never had to contact them directly so I don't know what the service is like.
  11. I had this issue with one of the older SMART boards with Notebook 11. Now like yourself I had no idea what was causing it. What actually fixed it was not even close to what I'd of imagined. Just out of interest I removed the USB Cable that detects the board, restarted the machine without the USB connected, allowed the PC to boot back up, plugged the USB back in, it picked the board up straight away and then restarted again. This for some reason fixed it? I have no idea why or how?! Worth a try if your really stumped I suppose.
  12. Hey everyone, Quick question! Having an issue with a few machines that are allowing me to "Remote In" and view the screen but not take control of the users PC. Any idea's? All the configuration settings are as they should normally be which is working with other Win 7 machines. Just have these select few that aren't behaving. Any suggestions on what to do here? I've tried re-installing UVNC with no luck. Thanks Liam
  13. Hello, I've been having issues with my laptop lately and finally decided to recover back to factory defaults and start again. All was going well until it dawned on me I had Office 2010 installed. At this point it was already to late! I can't believe I've been so stupid. Is there anyway I can get Office 2010 back? I don't have the product key or the original box. However I still have the receipt. Granted it was brought it like 2010 but it's still prove of purchase? If I get in contact with Microsoft will they be able to help? Or am I stuffed? Thanks Liam
  14. That's what I was planning on trying to do. Fingers crossed haha!?
  15. Hmmm Slightly annoying hay.
  16. Nope, I did wonder, checked the SD reader. Nothing in there. Boot order is correct, even excluded everything other then the HHD.
  17. Thanks for the input guys. It confirms my suspicions! Bloody annoying! Haha looks like I'm buying Win 8 and a SSD for them then.
  18. Hi Laser, Possibly, I may have an old XP one lying around somewhere at work, that was going to be my next port of call if no one had any other software or OS related idea's. Thanks
  19. Good Evening Everyone, Firstly, this is my first post, so apologies if it's in the wrong area! Now, this is not my fault. The laptop in question is my parents! It's nothing to do with me! It say's "No bootable device -- Insert boot disk and press any key" Yes this is probably a common issue, however what threw me was the fact I can't access advanced startup options (Safe Mode etc), I couldn't make it boot it to Recovery Disks or anything!? Everything in the BIOS appears to be in shape as well. Am I missing something here or what?! I fear the HDD is dead. If anyone has any idea's, please, fire away!! Thanks Liam
