Against Me! I only had two of their songs when I was a teenager but loved them! Must dig them out again.

Edit: just looked them up as "Laura Jane Grace" confused me, I didn't realise she came out as transgender since. Is the book "....Confessions Of Punk Rock's Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout" ? I'm going to have to find a copy myself.

I reread Tank Girl: Armadillo recently, which I thought was fantastic for being so odd.

Yep, that's the book. Their new album is great, but their last album was the best release of that year trumping anything IMO. I luckily managed to see them for both album tours :D

Dig out their albums, power through them and then read the book while listening to them again. ;)

Half of it is transcriptions from old diary entries that give insight into lyrics and song meanings, it's a great book to listen to the discography while reading!

Excellent, thank you very much. I have a very long list of recommendations but it will probably end up skipping the queue and end up near the top of the pile.

Finished Expanse 1 - Leviathan Wakes a couple of weeks ago. I've been reading it for ages (I keep one physical book on the go whilst i read eBooks at more convenient times).

It's an excellent book, cleverly put together, I like how it's origins started in a forum-based RPG.

The Tech is pretty realistic, the story was good, and I like how chapters alternate between the viewpoints of the two main characters.

I'm already 100 pages into book two now and just about ready to give the TV series a shot :)

Definitely recommended!

"Flowers for Algernon" written by Daniel Keyes is amazing and touching story. I cried at the end. Great book about people, humanity, relationships, emotions, happiness, and science and experiments.

The Hanging Tree by Ben Aaronovitch. Book six in the series, just brilliant.
Aren't they just? One description I've seen, "Harry Potter grows up and joins the Met".

I've just read the most recent Guy Martin. "Worms to catch". His exploit on a mountain bike are as astounding as those on a motorcycle.

Mme LeMarchand decided I needed to read A Gift from Bob: How a Street Cat Helped One Man Learn the Meaning of Christmas. It wasn't brilliant, and some of it is tainted by knowledge of later events in the author's life. It did make me think about how hard it is for some people to get by, though.

Just finished 2 Danny Wallace books 'Where are they now' and 'Join me' this guy is damn funny but with an under current of serious emotion. Talking of emotion I finished this week 'A long way home' or 'Lion' in cinemas by Saroo Brierley incredible story but quite a short book. Current read is Twitchhiker by Paul Smith, travels around the world with the power of Twitter not bad so far :)

Here, There Be Dragons by James A. Owen.

Book 1 of the "Imaginarium Geographica" a young (with the emphasis on "young") adult fantasy series. 3 friends are caught up in an adventure to save the lands that our myths and fantasies are based on. I couldn't get on with this and found the writing quite poor. The series' USP is that many of the characters are either real people or fictional/mythological ones. There are a few clues as to the identities of the main 3 and a couple of the secondary characters along the way, but I think you'd have to be pretty genned up on those sort of people to work out who they are before the heavy handed "big reveal" at the end. Unless you read the blurb on the back cover that gives away the names of the 2 that everyone knows. Doubt I'll read any of the others.

Heaven's Shadow by David S Goyer and Michael Cassutt

Both the Americans and an Indian/Russian coalition launch manned missions to a comet that turns out to be a ship. Muddled and inconclusive (the first in a trilogy). I'm not having much luck with books at the moment!

Just finished 'Nomad' by James Swallow, another good read. Just started 'The Second Half' by the footballer Roy Keane.........not sure why.

Just finished Caliban's War (Expanse Book 2).

Very good book. New viewpoint characters flesh out the universe the writers have created. Concludes the story arc of the first book and sets up something new for book three.

Onwards! :)

Just reading Railhead by Phillip Reeve - very good - loved his Mortal Engines series

Yay! The sequel is possibly even better, and he's just finished the first draft of the final(?) part. Perhaps he could tutor GRRM in how to write to a schedule?

Just under 2 years until the Mortal Engines movie...
