I had one of those Phillips C12's for a bit, thought it was quite good at the time! Remember the 6630's too, a few team leaders had them when I had my 6230.

I had the original Vodafone PAYG here, the Motorola A130 here and I even have a Ford Mobile phone in a box here that was given to my grandparents as part of buying a new car at the time thats a bit older than the phone I have.

Realised in all this as well that I have had probably easily in excess of 25/30 phones since then as well.

I too had an early vodafone PAYG phone. I think it was an Alcatel, which was analogue (so no texts). I upgraded the battery to a higher capacity (thicker) version for more talk time. It had a big pull out ariel, no SIM card and was blue.

First was in 2000 - Philips Diga. Then a Savvy. Much amusement with the voice dialling at the pub...

Then a Nokia 3210, then a 3310, and a 7650 Symbian. Then a Motorola MPX200 with WM2003 ROM. Then an Ipaq 514 Voice Messenger, and now a secondhand HTC Wildfire with Android 2.2.x.

Can't get the bugger to root or upgrade, and am currently upsetting the TTS engine and downloading offline google maps in preperation for going out on a jaunt with the kiddlywinks.

Motorola M3788E was my first on Orange and that was when I was eer about 14 as I was going on a school trip to London so I could call home and let my mum know I'm ok etc... after that I moved onto Sony phones so had a J70i and then a Sony Ericsson W810i and then around that time I started to carry two phones due to work so had a O2 XDA2, then a HP Mobile Messenger and then finally gave over on two phones as my work changed and moved over onto my HTC Touch Pro and finally onto my HTC 7 Pro which I love :)

I think it was a Nokia 3210, not sure though! I replaced that with some form of Sony phone which I can find no trace of online... Had an orange LCD though.

Back in the mid eighties I worked for BT and we were issued for call outs a unit that looked like a car battery with a handset attached via the Curley wire, keypad on handset, but boy was it heavy. It even charged from the van fag lighter socket.

My dad still has one of those things in the garage from when he work at BT, he refuses to get rid of it keeps saying its value will increase, however I think the only thing that increases is the weight everytime I have to move it.

My first phone was a Sagem myX-1, it had the tenancy to unlock itself and call people from my pocket during school.

Motorola L7089. It had an IR port & modem which worked with whatever Palm I had at the time.

To recreate the experience, I used the web browser on my current phone on the train yesterday.

In that slightly sad way of the slightly older gentleman....

I loved this as it was the closest you could get to having a Star Trek communicator in your pocket!
