Forgot about this thread, reminded me of something I saw on Reddit a few days ago. Some guy had hit 100,000 virtual miles in his lorry!!!

Edugeek modding community should group together and make a multiplayer delivery service for compuer components, maybe a forum sponsor such as VeryPC branding could be added to the Mercedes Sprinter Van mod, add the real branding for CAT and JCB on industrial vehicles plus Shell and BP garage. I looked into these mods before even buying the game and since buying it I've finished 1 mission, took more time to research it!

Do you know how difficult driving a truck is? There are half gears, weight ratios, height ratios, plus you have to have limited speed, set amount of target miles per day/night, also there are other factors such as refridgeration, perishables, special deliveries etc.

See....

When you explain it like that, the fuzzy intense gamer side of me comes out, and wants to play it.

Damn you! DAMN YOU TO HELLLLLLL!!!

And then, then there is driving from A to B ... and ... goddamit, back again.

And then there's multi-tasking - such as watching a DVD on a laptop perched on the dashboard whilst tailgating on the M6 at 80mph, urinating into a empty tango bottle and then launching it out of the window, whilst thinking about topping a few prostitutes in the next town...

So.... lemme get this right.

The point of this game, is to sit in a truck and drive from point A to B?

.......

Initially it is little more then a quick play point A to point B driving simulator. You pick up the basics of the game and earn a bit of cash, getting used to routes, avoiding speed limit fines and crashes whilst pottering round in a hired truck.

Then you buy your own truck and have to manage rest, fuel, pick up jobs based on location...effectively run your own business which is what makes the game different to other simulators as it has a very in-depth business side. DaSquirrelsNuts had one run where he lost over 3/4 of his pay to fines and repair costs after an AI car drove into him overtaking on a hill, almost making the entire run uneconomical for his business. He had to limp across the continent in a knackered truck!

I need to get back into it properly. Also the radio option is quite nice, listening to Polish folk as you transport 18 tonnes of Lumber from Warsaw to Berlin.

When I play it, I have the radio on, its quite relaxing driving your big truck round Europe listening to your favourite radio station. (You can add pretty much any internet radio station onto the in game radio)

I have a friend who is a 747 pilot and he is amazed that anybody chooses to sit at home simulating his job which he describes as very well paid boredom most of the time!

I do enjoy a good combat flight simulator though because that at least has some action...I love my Spitfire...
