  1. Are you able to get sky news straight from their own website with subtitles? If so then we might be able to find a way to use them too, otherwise I've got no chance...
  2. We also use FSRM for quota management and I have to say I've been very impressed for something Microsoft provide for 'free'! I love the way if you have a quota on a user's folder then drive display in my computer shows a bar of how much of the quota is in use.
  3. @Liam We use FSRM to block the creation of desktop.ini on the user shares. I think it is available in server 2003 r2 and up, but I know it is in 2008. Obviously this only fixes new creation so once in place you'll have to remove the existing files.
  4. Cool, I must have scrolled past them tons of times, but never noticed them Cheers
  5. We must of, otherwise we'd never have defeated the silence
  6. I think F3 brings up your coordinates (amongst a ton of other info). That would give you a rough idea if you knew where you started. However, I'm a signs man. I try to have them at junctions
  7. Does Pcounter still install it's own port for each printer? I never got on with that
  8. We've struggled with 6 in the past too. Went back to 5 and never looked back...
  9. We took a slightly different approach... To save on one side of the problem we didn't disable any accounts. Instead we changed the password at the teacher's request and then they issue the password when they want the account used. That way the account is effectively disabled until issued by the teacher. Then the teacher just rings up to set a new password once done to "disable" the account(s).
  10. Thanks Pete for reminding me that I don't say things like that enough... Cheers ZH for this and so many other services!
  11. +1 Papercut. Used pcounter and print manager plus, Papercut is worlds apart.
  12. Oh, its free too
  13. Another vote for MRBS from me. Links to AD for shared authentication. All in php so easily customisable. Very solid community support.
  14. Check what your MS licensing is. From August Forefront is included with EES CoreCALs, you might not need to pay anything extra at all if you are already looking at EES.
  15. Ouch, that's a massive roll back ZH
  16. I haven't had any problems. However I did install google apps from the google installer referred to by cynogenmod
  17. Dang... RC4?! I didn't even notice RC3 coming out...
  18. The drivers are reasonably up to date, but not necessarily the latest (new at August, or updated from WSUS). None of our BIOSes have been updated and the AV is 8.7 (8.8 being the latest). All in all that paints a bleak picture for me in terms of ruling out these. The WMI trace seems to be recording nothing.... any thoughts?
  19. Hi Synack The AV is certainly worth a harder look. I am trying to access the wmi trace now
  20. It is showing as that location. Although process explorer shows \\? in front of the path which I don't recognise...
  21. Hi Steve, checking now. Virus has passed my mind, but this has been going on for a few weeks and I'll be seriously miffed if Mcafee has been missing it for that long
  22. Hi guys I'm struggling with a strange problem with Windows 7 on the domain(vanilla 2k8). My machines seem to be regularly (a few each week) going 100% on one core for the service calling wmiadap during bootup. The only way I can get into the desktop is safemode where the 100% still happens, but I can run process explorer. Nothing I seem to try seems to stop this and currently I'm just reimaging to keep these machines running. (I have kept a couple to experiment on). The worst part is the randomness... Yesterday I had 2 machines in a room of 30 identical , same OU machines go 100% WMI. I know that after I reimage these 2 machines could still do the same thing, but so could any of the others in the room. A few (not complete) software additions... Mcafee 8.7 AV PCE AppV 4.6/4.5 Office 2k3 (some with 2010 too) Adobe CS3 Any guesses or experience would be welcomed cause I'm banging my head here... Cheers
  23. I use UNetbootin for single isos to bootable usb, but I have been moving towards multiboot usb as it allows me to have more than one on a stick and saves on having too many stick kicking round.
  24. Lol, guess Steve beat me too! Damn me for testing first!
