    Can't Airdrop

Looks like its running Mavericks, but if Mid 2012 it should be able to run the next big update Mojave

    Can't Airdrop

Can you update the OS on the MacBook?
  3. That is awful. What has your account manager said? Can't say I've anything bad to say about our RM Broadband service over the years (except the many erroneous invoices that they decide to send us). Our contract is up this year though, so will definitely bear this in mind going forward...
  4. Would also advise against media converters. Inherited a couple at a few of our sites and had no end of trouble with them.
  5. We merged 6 schools into 1 existing tenancy last summer ourselves. First time I had ever done anything like that, but for us the process was relatively straight forward. We moved all OneDrive data/SharePoint sites using Mover, and then exported and imported PST files for the mailboxes. Appreciate it may not be as simple as this for you if you have other bits and bobs that you want to migrate, also we were migrating just staff so it was only around 300 users max. I will say it took up most of my summer planning and executing. I only experienced one minor hiccup when importing the mailbox PST files for a few users. Even though I had specified to import into the root of the mailbox (where it should merge with the receiving accounts folders), it created a separate folder instead with all the nested folders within. Not a huge issue as it only affected a few users and the main thing was that the data was actually there.
  6. Just wondering, did you use free or paid accounts? I notice the maximum export resolution is 480p which is pretty rubbish. I guess fine for KS2 if not intending to share projects on social media/website etc.
  7. Have you looked at Canva? Free Premium account with a school email and has a simple video editing feature.
  8. Hi all, I've had a search online and a thorough look through Google Workspace, but just wondering if there is a setting where I can configure devices to power down (if on) after say 6PM? I've currently configured the 'Power Management' setting in 'Device Settings' in Google Workspace, but this doesn't indicate exactly how long it will take on idle to sleep/shut down. Google only gives the following advice: "Controls whether a Chrome OS device that is showing a sign-in screen (no user is signed-in) should go to sleep or shut down after some time or if it should continuously stay awake. This setting is useful for devices that are used as kiosks to make sure they never shut down." Does anyone know if there is a way to do the first option I mentioned, or have any idea of the timescales of the second option? Thanks!
  9. We recently changed to a ticket based system for IT issues. Staff were seriously reluctant to begin with so I really had to get SLT on board with ticket logging. Heads of schools then made it a point to cover in their weekly staff meetings, and since then they have been flooding in. I still get the occasional staff member wandering into the office, or calling but I always direct them to log a ticket (or make it really clear that I am logging one on their behalf and this is the way to log issues going forward). I'm not really sure what else could be done if it is down to laziness on their part of putting up with issues rather than logging tickets. I'd stand my ground in this case and if ever I was questioned why I didn't do something, would explain there is a clear ticket logging system in place and I wasn't informed.
  10. Have you tried clearing the TPM in the bios?
  11. It depends on how you are handling PaperCut identity management. If your users are syncing with Azure AD then yes Print Deploy can auto sign your users in at login.
  12. Which version of PaperCut are you running? We use Print Deploy to push our printers out via Intune and has been working great for us. I take it this is what you have been doing but it is failing to install?
  13. Also doing something similar. Have set up a Google Form to record tickets and using Zapier to import these directly into Trello. Works well for our small team of 2.
  14. Do you have access to Apple Configurator where you can wipe these devices and start from new?
  15. Do you know if there is an MSI file available for the software? If not, is there a switch available to input the license code if deploying through Intune? Thanks!
  16. Yeah depends what the school is using really. If they have set up to push specific apps out to children then you will get these along with any policies etc.
  17. Not sure about apps, but the point you allude to about her being too young to have an account, it may be worth setting up Family Link where you control what she can access?
  18. As per the title, only yesterday did I notice that Microsoft Lists was a thing and they have some great looking templates for asset management/IT service desk etc. Just wondering if anyone is using this for either of these reasons and has any feedback? Thanks!
  19. This blog post from theserverless school should be able to help: https://blog.theserverlessschool.net/2019/10/chromebooks-and-azure-sso-revisited.html EDIT: Just now I've properly read your post...not too sure if this is possible or not with multiple Google Workspace tenancies or not...apologies!
  20. Have you checked out the RM Store? We buy 15" HP ProBook 450 G8's from here which seems to fit most of your specifications for £540: From memory you must apply for the Microsoft Shape the Future discount but it was a fairly simple process...
  21. The company who host our SIMS give us access to RDP through a webclient, so we go through the browser. Works ok for light SIMS work on Chromebooks.
  22. We use AirServer...fairly cheap and very reliable. EDIT: Worth mentioning you can also use Google Cast so if pupils have Chromebooks they can mirror these too.
  23. +1 for Chromebooks/Chromebox/Chromebits and Chrome Sign Builder. Have been using it for around 4 years with no problems.
  24. +1 for Schoolcloud
  25. Enable 'Undo Send' in Outlook and set a delay of up to 10 seconds on outgoing mail. Perfect for those users who hit the send button and then immediately realise it's supposed to go to someone else. Will hopefully save a data breach. Side note- If anyone knows how to enable this in OWA for my entire organisation I'd be forever grateful.
