yes school managed device, the web remote desktop based on machine availability seems really good, how does it work ? we dont have any servers at the school as we're fully cloud based but yes £2k can work!

Hi All I have a budget of about £10k and i need to use that to enable 10-15 staff members to work from home. my thinking was in order to be very cost effective I can recycle the old desktops we have at the school and set them up for remote access, the main objective is to prevent staff from downloading documents to their personal devices and by using a remote desktop hosted in the school we can contain that. is there a better more cost effective way to do this ? what would be a good cost effective software to allow them to remote in to those machines ? we use the LGFL connection at the school but I find their offering of remote desktop to be overcomplicated and not very intuitive below are the things we cant do allow them to login to office 365 from their personal laptops provide them with school hardware at home I appreciate your input on this issue !

this wont solve the issue, we also need to make sure they are using school laptops not their personal ones, I was thinking of a combination of intune and azure conditional access but that's too expensive as it requires both an intune license and azure premium which isn't part of the faculty license, its not even part of the A3 license -

they are working from home and their ISP changes the IP regularly its not practical to update the exclusion list regularly -

I can't do that, we were recently under an attack just before the COVID-19 and so it was decided to restrict access only from authorized IP's -
Hi All I need to give my staff a static IP to enable them access to Office 365, our office 365 is setup to only allow access from specific IP's, so far I've tried to use a VPN using "Perimeter 81" but it seems the laptops I have for staff although new they are struggling and also with the VON usage and their slow home internet its becoming almost impossible to use, so I need something like a smart DNS provider that masks the home IP's of my staff, is there anything that does that ? by using a smart DNS their internet speed will not be effected and I can whitelist a single IP on O365 but I can't find anything useful online most of the smart DNS I'm finding is for personal use and most of them are for people wanting to use netflix etc I can't use my own vpn as I neither have the bandwidth onsite nor will it solve the slow connection issues, any advise is much appreciated.

Hi All we are looking to move away from our current MIS system "KSM" one of the main requirements is giving the parent the ability to select and amend the days they want their children to attend the nursery rather than have them call the admin office or use an online form, once a parent makes the changes for their child days the admin simply approves them individually or in bulk, another main requirement is parents paying via the app or web and that automatically updates the MIS rather than transfer the money directly to our account then admin makes note of that then finance sees the transactions and a ton of manual work. sofar I was exploring famly.co but it seems it lacks that functionality and parents will still need to call the office, also looked into isams but didn't see this functionality as an option either i could be wrong though, any suggestions would be much appreciated! Hi All, just an FYI regarding the password spray attack I've disabled SharePoint from being accessed from any external non-school lgfl IP and I've setup a security policy that forces the user to sign out if a successful attempt to login was made, I've also disabled all non-modern authentication from o365 and set several client access rules from powershell, though I'm still waiting to see those come into effect, also I changed the UPN's of all affected users while retaining their old reply/main email accounts, that stopped the attack almost immediately! I'm now looking into two factor authentication via rsa keys/fob and combine that with a Meraki VPN so that staff can only access anything from the LGFL network with two factor, its been a long weekend........

Hi All we are getting a password spray attack on our office 365 account, although the measures we have in place are effective at blocking them I am now changing the 365 access to be only form specific IP addresses, we use LGFL but I am not sure where to get the public IP or any IP details so I can add them as allowed IP's, I couldn't call LGFL today, on Meraki I am seeing a 5.150 address not sure if that the main one, I will be checking on the router now as its been a long time since I setup the LGFL connection. also any advise on the password spray attack would be much appreciated. Thanks!

ok i think i found a solution, @Brimstone was the inspiration here...] I spoke with www.prsformusic.com on the phone they tell me that if i buy a streaming on demand license I can theoretically buy any song in any format then combine it with https://www.prsformusic.com/licences/live-performances/dj-mixes and upload it to our own hosted platform "it has to be own platform" and then enable all staff to stream that particular song on demand! so theoretically if i buy a cd from amazon even if its for personal use I can simply rip it and upload it to our radio-streaming service and all my teachers can access it ! I'm waiting for them to send me the paperwork so i can go through it and I will most likely use synology music or something similar

we use strict mode on all our staff and students, one policy for all - although sometimes we lose out on some good educational videos, in which case i usually email the author and ask their permission to download their videos -
I couldn't find the keyword "Streaming" in the link you provided, I think their license does not mean we can rip a single CD and broadcast it to the whole school, this all seems very over complicated if only spottily offered a business account

thanks for your reply, I have three categories of staff as follows Music Teacher that works on multiple sites, requires access to most mainstream music non-music teachers playing music as part of their lessons, they require some music all other staff playing background music like Christmas themes etc you are right about schools not being catered for this its such a shame, I have actually blocked spotify at the school along with itunes and also blocked personal device use etc I could look the other way but I cant do that, not in a commercial setting...

Hi Everyone how are you dealing with the music requirements in classrooms given that youtube music and spotify are not for commercial use and are not covered under the PRS and PPL licenses ? I'm hitting a wall here as cefm.co.uk as saying we cannot use spotify as its only for personal use we cannot use itunes is also for personal use we cannot use amazon same reasons as above we cannot use youtube to play music as its only for personal use we cannot rip a cd we bought and play it on more than one computer as the PRS and PPL licenses the school hold will not allow for it to be streamed across the school as the licenses rely on music being played from the original copyright purchased source I'm running out of options here, obviously as a school we cannot rely on teachers using personal music accounts to play music and soundtrackyourbrand.com hardly has anything useful, what my teachers want is the pool of music that spotify provides but I cannot find anything that can be used in a commercial environment that has all those songs, some teachers from other schools are telling me they just use spotify, yet that contradicts with cefm says, so we're left with either buying many copies of a cd/dvd or not play music at all :/ your advise and help is much appreciated

yeah its heavily inefficient, i was thinking of coding my own MIS to tackle this but time restraints is preventing this, I signed up to famly and was able to configure it within minutes its good they let you sign up without paying or emailing anyone it seems really good but I was still hoping someone here might've had direct experience with it as I feel my excitement might be effecting my judgement

"https://famly.co/" I'm looking to move away from SchookKompanion, we're a private nursery, pre-prep and year 3,4,5,6 and its proving rather challenging to find a system that can deal with both nursery and the upper years along with a host of other services and clubs that the school offers - our payment and management is a total nightmare and the admin process is incredibly inefficient
