1. I see what you mean, so rather than use a hdmi to ethernet converter I would instead use multiple mini/cheap NVRs behind each monitor ?
2. problem is I don't even have ethernet in the locations where the other 4 monitors are and the building has had the same setup for the last 20 years I don't know if they will need more cameras in the future but I see your point
3. I should probably say that each monitor is in a different location in the building, the longest cable run is less than 60 meters
4. in the picture attached there is two designs; Design A uses an analogue 4k camera and RG60 Coax cable with BNC fittings, from there it goes to a 5 way BNC splitter then one coax cable goes to a DVR then from there HDMI to a wall monitor, the rest of the coax cables each go to 4 monitors and terminate to either the monitor directly if it supports BNC fitting or it would terminate to a simple BNC to HDMI converter. Design B uses a 4K Poe camera that goes to a DVR then from the DVR two HDMI cables come out one goes to the monitor and one goes to a HDMI to Ethernet converter, then from there it goes to the network switch or a dedicated network switch then form there at each monitor the ethernet connects to a Ethernet to HDMI converter then connects to the monitor.which design is better in terms of reliability ? reliability in terms the number of failure points and overall robustness. money isn't an issue here. it seems to me the analogue option A has low latency and a very simple design with less things to go wrong, the BNC splitter is just a copper splitter, the only point of failure I can think of is the BNC to HDMI converter as those seem to break but even so it would take all 5 of them to break to take the system down, even if the DVR is down the live feed is still active.on the other hand the POE option seems to rely on multiple things, a DVR, a HDMI to Ethernet convert, a network switch, a ethernet to HDMI converter etcanyone here have any thoughts on this ?
5. Hi all, what system do you use for sending forms digitally and e-signatures ? I've been asked to look into a method to do this, currently trialling our adobe sign, any pros and cons ?
6. I just thought I'd give abit more context, the form is sent to all schools its a de-registration form from what I understand its used when a child leaves the schools the admin uses the form to fill in the child's details, why they are leaving the school and contact information for the parents etc this also includes the child's full name, dob, parents details I spoke with the ICO and they informed me that it depends on the organisation if they want to report it or not, they say they have to prove that the information leak will not cause harm to the individual
7. Hi John, we're still waiting on an update from LGFL regarding the firewall access issues. any update on that ?
8. I see what you mean, apparently the DPO doesn't think this should be reported to the ICO as it was only sent to schools
9. problem is they shared this with every school in the borough, 100s of people would have accessed the from, is there any way to filter by who downloaded the data rather than just accessed the form ?
10. I have indeed reported this to everyone in the council that I could find an email for ! I got a call from the DPO today, saying that they have closed the form now, they however told me that they cannot find out who downloaded the form results or not. I don't use google forms so I don't know if they have a log that can show who downloaded the form results or not, does anyone here uses google forms and can confirm ?
11. we use, Microsoft Teams, Seesaw, Showbie, myON, TTRS, and few others
12. weird issue indeed, I would backup their pst and delete the user entirely - recreate and test
13. Hi all i just discovered a council "without mentioning which one" has been sending a google forms to schools to fill in children's details, that form however was sent in edit mode meaning any recipient can download the results of the other schools, private information about their children, parents contact details etc. My question is how is google forms managed on the top level ? and does google forms have an audit trail showing who and when the results were downloaded and from which IP address ? P.S that form had the details of 7000+ children free to download by any school that got that link.... Best Regards, Omar
14. office 365 does emails. sharepoint and many more things very well, if i was you I would convince them to move away from google all together and go with microsoft, combined with apple classroom you would get the best of both worlds. office 365 gives you good pricing on the office software package too
15. from the compliance section of office 365 when you run. discovery search it does show results even in drafts. I've seen it many times
16. Hi All, just a quick update on this, in the end we sadly had to settle with getting laptops..... much to my dislike :/
17. Hi Paddy for the record, you specifically have been very helpful in the past and have helped the school through few issues we had, if your management is watching this space they should make some notes on that!] that aside, what you're saying makes sense and is pretty much what used to happen, the team would tell me what they have investigated and what they need from me, I had two outages in the last 2 months, in the first one i spent so much time just trying to convince the guy on the phone to just do some checks from their end, his words were we cant pass this issue to the firewall team without knowing the lights..... i had to keep insisting on him doing the checks before he said he will look into it.... in that particular issue i went onsite and restarted the kit and that brought everything back, i then asked the team to investigate what caused in the logs but no one ever got back to me on that. this issue now see ticket log below

Public post 15 Jul 21, 16:53 n/a - any updates please ?

Public post 15 Jul 21, 16:17 n/a - i dont have that at the moment, can you please run some checks from your end to establish where the connection issue is ? are you able to see the firewall is there any outages in the area ?

Public post 15 Jul 21, 14:37 n/a - Hello , PLease provide us with the light information on the firewall, please. Kind regards

Public post 15 Jul 21, 14:35 n/a - we just restarted all the equipment there but still no internet

Public post 15 Jul 21, 14:28 n/a - Hi guys, please can you check form your end what the issue is and what devices you can connect to ? this same issue happened few weeks ago we had to unplug the power and plug it back for a restart and this fixed this issue, at the time i asked your team to look into the logs to see what caused this issue but i never heard back, please can you look into this asap as I have staff working onsite

and no update after that until 12pm today! and still no explanation of what tests have been made and where the issue could be.... this level of support from LGFL was never like that, and indeed it shouldn't considering how much it costs. ont he talk talk bit, at least they attempted to connect to the router and advised on where the issue is haha
18. Hi All has anyone else noticed a shift in how LGFL support works ? previously when an outage happens the LGFL team jump on it straight away, they do their checks ie check if there is an outage in the area check if they can connect to the router or the firewall or any of the equipment update me with their findings and let me know if they need anything from me onsite, ie to check the lights or to restart the hardware, they usually message me and call my number nowadays and specifically the last few months they don't bother and refuse to check anything on their end without me telling them first which lights are doing what on the equipment, I mean surely there is some checks they can do and they did in the past before even getting to the stage of which lights are which... I've had better ISP support from talk talk.... anyone else or is it just my imagination :/
19. the reason for not allowing them to login to O365 on personal devices is because my staff keep downloading confidential files for students on their personal computers via O365, as a school we have a duty to safeguard this information and having a copy of a students dob or health reports etc on a personal unmanaged computer is just unacceptable
20. had a similar issue with two ipads but with meraki mdm, only thing that fixed the issue was to reset the device and re-profile it, the other similar issue i had was solved by changing the wifi connection
21. for just one account I'd go with the old pst export-import, which migration provider did you use btw ? i used and only would use migrationwiz
22. what is that ? do you mean the amazon workspace ?
23. I agree with you about using a laptop, docking station its borderline perfect - take it home take it to the school just dock and go! only problem is my staff are rubbish with taking care of the school's equipment I had 3 slt members given brand new Dell laptops and within 2-3 years, one of them had several screws missing and a broken hinges, the other has missing keys and the other looked like someone took it to the toilet..... not to mention the other 30 staff members that also had laptops... so i decided no more laptops! and i have them all modular Lenovo desktops all in one, otherwise if they looked after the equipment well laptops would be perfect!
24. its not very cost effective though, as when the desktop reaches its end of 5 year cycle re-using it for home working is better than throwing it in the bin and giving the staff a new laptop - my staff are savages and dont look after the school equipment well :/
25. its more the screen size and the keyboard etc but also familiarity, they are more familiar with word on desktop than ipad
