    what questions does this raise about the web filtering, what would you suggest that needs checking ? I did not get any adult content on google image search as its set to safe search by default - it was a different story for craiyon

    I think the default is that they should all be blocked and only vetted or business ones to be unblocked by default I don't understand the logic of allowing any ai site without it being vetted For example craiyon was unblocked on LGFL despite it having adult content and it was classified as a technology site until i reported, and this is where I don't understand how it was allowed to be accessible in the first place ? and that's only one example and I tested others and I get the same results, how can this be ?

    in this case LGFL did not block AI sites that can be used to generate adult content, hence wondering why its not blocked by default and leave the specific needed ones to be unblocked manually ?

    does anyone know why LGFL has not blocked Generative AI sites by default ? especially considering the high risk of adult content there ?

    its not a legal requirement for a private schools unless I'm mistaken ?, we use famly.co as our MIS system

    Hi All our MIS does not support the ctf file format "more info here about ctf" its an over complicated xml file that my admin team cannot possibly go through. My question is, does anyone here have a conversion tool i can use for that file ? the alternative would be to custom make one using c# or something like that but that would take ages and my admin team need this asap so just seeing if anyone here has such a tool or know of one they have used before ? Thanks in advance! X

    I think its wrong forcing schools to either use Microsoft or Google especially when it comes to emails, they can use a form provider that requires a users email "regardless who its hosted with" instead of pushing this nonsense on schools and they are also sending me stats about how 90% of schools use google I don't even know where they are getting those stats from...

    Hi All has anyone here received a google form from Richmond council that cannot be filled unless the user signs up to google ? they specifically say you need to have a google account. when challenged they say 90% of schools in Richmond use Google, my point is that its not right they force you to sign up to google just to fill in a form, my school uses Microsoft not Google something just doesn't sound right. what's your thoughts on this ? Thanks X

    I agree having 3rd line support like Paddy is better as they do firewalls all day and would know more than me but not having simple easy access to that level of support combined with lack of control/access causes issues, if at least one of those issues is resolved then it would solve everything, but this cant just be for me, it needs to apply to all schools and to give schools better access to 2nd/3rd line technical support after all we are not your average "end user" we are IT professionals and do not need to speak to a 1st liner that cannot be asked to even run checks from their end and has to pass it to 2nd,3rd line...

    I asked them many times for a better solution, they just don't seem to care and I know for a fact and from a technical point of view they can implement a solution that allows firewall control and I also know their web screen can be made better but I don't think they are interested, Jackson said LGFL listens but here we are many years later and still no ability to manage the firewall other than using some silly excel sheet, and web screen as I said still feels like a uni graduate product...

    I've had them in my previous place but this was a long tome ago and was told at them time they run something like £50k a unit! not sure how true that is though, which model do you use at your place ? EDIT: I just spoke with palo alto and it seems their PA-400 is a good option and does not cost £50k!

    Hi All we have 3 sites with LGFL and so far we've been using LGFL web filtering but to be honest I'm getting fed up with web screen and the lack of any control over the firewall, some of you might have seen my previous threads about this and despite various promises from LGFL this issue remains several years later and web screen is still looks it was made by a graduate at uni So..... I've decided to slowly move away from my reliance on LGFL's web filtering and firewall and just get my own and have complete control, I'll set the LGFL connection to be completely unrestricted and just use my own firewalls/filtering etc. in your experiences what has worked very well with web filtering and firewall ? Thanks in advance!

    5 someones yes, running a good 12 hours a day rather than 24 hours, all year round yes exp public holidays and weekends etc

    I don't think the cabling specifically is easier, I mean crimping RG59 is easier than crimping Ethernet ? I agree IP cameras are scalable but this site does not need that kind of flexibility, the cost of purchasing 5 computers that can stay on 24/7 is just too high not to mention the regular maintenance they require ?

    but isn't that more expensive and requires more maintenance ?I'd need to buy 5 computers that can stay on 24/7, 365 days a year, their OS will need to be regularly updated and ideally be small form factor to so they can be tucked away behind the monitor

    Hi All I have added two more designs based on your suggestions as option C and D, C gets rid of the HDMI to Ethernet converters and instead uses cheap DVR's at each monitor to convert the ethernet to HDMI, Option E uses a mini computer behind the monitor and software to broadcast the camera to the screen, something like an all in one computer

    yes indeed, i think in my case the flexibility might be less of an issue as the site requirements hasn't changed in 20 years or so

    though surely that would add more complexity ? in a sense that I would need to have a computer at each monitor with running software, both would need regular updates and maintenance etc ?
