  1. PowerShell is what I used for 365 and I think it will work the same. May have to copy the XML and setup.exe files to the computer as it cycles through them and set restrictions to unrestricted temporarily
  2. Seems consumer one is £569 with 8GB , if they are easy to upgrade the memory it looks good. Wish AIO had kettle leads instead of power adaptors though and a height function https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/desktops/12th-gen-intel/spd/inspiron-24-5410-aio/cd541007
  3. Can't find the source but I remember a much older anecdote about an Australian real life war game where the fighter jets were "shot down" by Kangaroos with ground to air missiles after the computer side equipped them.
  4. Does the AP have a speed test function from the controller to the AP? if you think it is underperforming would narrow down the components Also found fast.com to be more accurate to real world speeds having used it on multiple ISPs , often much higher than other tests.
  5. Seems ok, using Device licensing if that makes any difference. There is a useful report under the product profile that shows failures for us in the past
  6. There was an insider build saying it is coming
  7. Edit: Office 365 I'm not sure if this matches Security but the defaults for being set for a School instead Business would be nice, the default setup from what I remember encourages them to create groups and share outside the organisation with "Anyone"
  8. P1 is quite cheap £5ish per annum per faculty member (and you get students free I think or 1:15 ratio)
  9. Try disabling MSQuic/Google Quic/HTTP3 , had a similar issue with OWA where it would hit an upgraded Microsoft server using the new protocol and time out until it hit a non upgraded one.
  10. Hi Did you ever implement this, looking to unblock WeChat for a single student on Smoothwall , can't find anything in their documentation but Smoothwall classifies it as Content of type Instant Messaging VoIP and Web Conferencing ( Domain/URL filtering ) in the logs but would like to just do WeChat
  11. Had ESET do the same thing last year but only when running a full scan for some reason, managed to exclude it and restore from quarantine though
  12. Have always been looking for something really solid and easy to use like the push button exit, but also the other button would rise up when the first was pushed in as a visual indicator, the buttons would be on top of the box so you couldn't stack it
  13. Saw eicar.zip which is kind of clever
  14. Same, not got any TLD blocked yet but will try this http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/183743-smoothwall-blocking-whole-domains.html#post1571462
  15. Some cheap USB Wi-Fi sticks might keep them going
  16. Is it on DEP/ABM or just Meraki , does it get stuck at any point or try to pick up its settings? the manual enrolment page might help on Systems Manager, Add Devices
  17. Cheap Android projectors used in Textiles/Photography Exams display at the start of each loop an "Unsupported Audio" message with exported PowerPoint videos/ videos that have no audio track FFmpeg can add a silent audio track that stops the message coming up ffmpeg -f lavfi -i anullsrc=channel_layout=stereo:sample_rate=44100 -i originalvideo.mp4 -c:v copy -c:a aac -shortest output.mp4
  18. I'd check the power the passthrough can do, got the D-Link version of these and from my notes Maximum PoE Budget 18W with 802.3at / 8W with 802.3af input power , maximum power consumption of R750 is PoE+ : 22.34W D-Link Switch Crashes with one AP connected might be POE demandalso the VLANs were a nightmare to set up but seemed to start working eventually.
  19. this looks relevant , could be DNS still though and I'm guessing not speaking from experience. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1bbb1769-3323-47a6-8614-e39e3c76f220/replication-errors-the-target-principal-name-is-incorrect-?forum=winserverDS
  20. We have around the same 8TB of 365 data and then after the initial backup it doesn't seem to grow that much, 2.5TB a year maybe including Emails and OneDrive, SharePoint With a 24TB usable Synology DiskStation it can retain for years longer than our DPO wants but all depends on how much they want to spend.
  21. Odd they use the British word
  22. I think your gut is right, if they trust you to choose a backup solution then they won't appreciate the money saving if something goes wrong in the future; and you already think it's a bit of a gamble.
  23. Does all the DNS resolution work for themselves and each other , they're not going somewhere else for it ?
  24. Ours saves the user facing save files to the Desktop when it loses Network drives, the backup save is local on ours and goes to a different directory c:\exambackupsetc, default is every 60 seconds i think Edit: The backup save has no user interaction so shouldn't matter what the student does and you can force save, save without confirmation or other options for the user facing saves in the config settings. So you will have 2 local saves, one visible to the student and one in the backups directory
  25. Is there a procedure for using LAPS if you're going to the physical machine and logging in as admin locally, do you write down the password and reset it afterwards kind of thing?
