It is actually going to be integrated into the helpdesk but will have a few enhancements as a stand alone bit of software as well as any bug fixes that maybe required.

Just as an update, people have been asking "What does it do?" well... This is a web based tool that .... Any network connected device can be PING'd for a simple connectivity test Any Windows connected device can have individual services monitored via a WMI check. If a PING check proves unsuccessfull the status of the item is changed to down If a service check fails the status of the item is changed to down. Things Still To Do: Email notifications If a service check fails set status to warn instead of down.

I want to get his in place for september 09. The school has being using Moodle now for 2 years but has limited take up and it is now part of the school SIP to make this cross curricular. One of the main reasons staff give for not using this is that is just takes to long to create classes and having moodle create these for them based on the SIMS timetable would remove this barrier. This means that we would need to have the intergration in place within the next 3 weeks so migration from the current production moodle to the newly reveloped one and testing can take place. Is this achieveable do you think? What would be the costs for this (support)?

OK Here goes, Have been playing with this since 07:15 this morning and I am well, stuck. I have the following setup: Sims2Ad - not setup as I do not need to have sims exported to AD FreeTDS - Setup on Ubuntu Sims.Net - enrollment setup Sims_Timetable - installed no errors If i login as a student (LDAP Auth is working as this how our current moodle setup works), I goto My Courses and select the timetable block i get cannot connect to SIMS.NET error. What do i need to do in order to check the connectivity? I have checked the SQL server used by SIMS and the custom MDL_ views are not to be found so i assume an install issue with the block maybe? any help would be grand as I would really like to get this setup as the school want to use this method of course creation to ensure school wide adoption of the vle. [edit] I know the username and password for the sql server are correct as i have used them same to access the sql manager[/edit]

Smoothwall Network Guardian Negatives?
ICTNUT replied to mb2k01's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Hi Mark, I'll try and disect your questions, The issue here is that you need to add the IP address and/or the FQDN of the smotthwall box to the proxy bypass in IE. What is haapening is that the bypass page is being proxy'd and filtering itself and kind of getting caught in a loop Sounds to me like its file security on http for the group that is accessing GMail. I would try the following: 1 - If GMail is an allowed site see if adding a permanent bypass for the required group will work. 2 - If you don't want to do this have a look at the smoothwall file security policy to see if that is blocking you. Yes and no, IE is quirky and can present problems but most of these can be worked around and I am sure that scores of others that use this product on here (like me) will be able to tell you the same. I have had the same issues you have and have resolved these and more and they have all been to do with IE. The schools we support do not have another browser to use as it is policy ONLY to use IE so we have had to "fix" them. What you need to remember is that out of the box "by default" the network garudian install is restrictive, this is by design and will need tweaking to get it right for your school. Yes it's easy to install, and do basic configuration but you do need to spend some fine tuning. Shout if you need anymore help -
