Mullet_Man: Changes thus far are as follows: 1 - We now have a non-WMI ping check which will allow non admins the ability to check status 2 - Up, Down, Check word status has been replaced by nice icons. 3 - Extended information will not take you away from the status page but will open in a modal window. 4 - Printer checks are now in and will return Printer Status, Printer State and connectivity 5 - Admin area is now secured via username and password 6 - Extended error trapping and timeouts have been added in case items take longer than required to respond 7 - Email notifications are now included. 8 - Ability to set number of failures until email is sent 9 - Ability to set how many emails are sent (re-notification) I have a few more updates to do then will look at getting a pack for release early next week.

@Mullet_Man: The up, down, check status words have been changed into icons which you will simply hover to get additional info or click to get extended info if it has been enabled for that item. So in answer to your request consider it in ;-)

Quick question for those using the software, when monitoring printers would it be a help if a check was done to find out toner and or drum levels as well as paper jam status? So you would get the following: Up [Green] - All Ok Jam [Orange] - Paper Jam Toner [Orange] - Toner Low Drum [Orange] - Drum Low Check [Orange] - Combination of Jam, Toner or Drum Down [Red] - No Communication Depending on feedback I'll look into getting this added for the next release.

Excellent, I would suggest that you set one of your servers so that a single service is being checked that way you will see "other" functionality too.

Yes you do, if you read the install instructions it will tell you how to set it up as a dedicated as this is the only way it will work now.

Hi All, For some reason I am unable to edit my first post in order to update. A new version is available to all which has the following chages: 1 - Firefox and Google chrome display issues fixed 2 - A full list of items to check is now displayed with a checking indicator which will then provide a status once it has been returned by the server. 3 - Checks are now staggered to ensure servers do not get swamped by the checks 4 - If WMI checks have been selected the server name becomes a link in which when clicked will display a modal popup the service status. 5 - Alot of the code has been streamlined for more efficient running. TO DO: Email notifications Ability to restart services Ability to check non windows (*nix) services. How to Upgrade: If you are upgarading an exisitng install simply delete all files and folders but NOT the data folder, extract the contents of the zip and copy over all files apart from the data folder. New Installs: Check the readme file for full install instructions. Link To Download: http://www.opsoftware.net/MLSM14.zip

OK so my next question would be have you done the MS Access hack as per this thread: Using Classic ASP with Microsoft Access Databases on IIS 7.0 and IIS 7.5 : Running Classic ASP Applications on IIS 7.0 and IIS 7.5 : Hosting Applications on IIS 7.0 : The Official Microsoft IIS Site Also if this is NOT a public facing server and is only available internally I would suggest you turn off friendly error pages in IIS7 so that the errors are displayed to the user: No Useful Error Messages Appear : The Official Microsoft IIS Site If you can view the error please post it and I can tell what the issue is.

It has not been tested on there yet but if you do want to give it ago you will need to do the following: 1 - enable ASP support in IIS7 2 - enable parent paths support in IIS7 3 - enable MS Access support in IIS7 All of the above are supported but not enabled on Server 2008 / IIS7

At the moment the ping and WMO checks are not done at the same time with the WMO check only being done when you click the link for the server on the status page I will be changing that logic so that when a check is performed ping is done first then if required the wmi check is done at which point the status is shown as up, warn or down

Which VLE Moodle, Digital Brain, Oracle, Fronter, SIMS LG
ICTNUT replied to ITWombat's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
What people need to remember is just becouse you can download a piece of software for free does not mean that there is no cost associated with it. Hardware Install Effort Maintenance are all cost factors. I would disagree with Grommit that moodle is hard to get running, I am in no way a *nix expert but in the last year have setup 6 instances of moodle and the last one I setup i now have full SIMS integration with timetables and auto creation of courses based on the timetable in SIMS so it's not that hard you just need to take it slow and plan everything. -
@DaveP: If you have a windows server then you can run this, the download has a readme file with instructions on getting this running. @DaveP, @mb2k01, @Ignatius: I have added another link to the download in my original post.
