Got a new phone due anytime soon, my trust 3.5 jack headphones will become redundant, any recommendations on ear buds? It's the Google Pixel 8 Pro I've gone for, I suppose I have to move with the times if thats the phone I have chosen, just don't want to spend over the odds for something I don't use loads unless this will transform my use. I've had a few recommendations for the Samsung ones and I know there was a deal for buds available on some discount places if I got the S23 but I chose what I did! Any personal recommendations, battery life, fit in the ear etc.

Things you wish you’d known before jumping MIS
MatthewL replied to HereIGoAgain2601's topic in MIS Systems
What are you lacking from your current, do you have any sysems thaty you have to integrate to, can their product do it without that, is there anything you want to do can the new supplier offer it? What do they offer in terms of support, license costs, year on year put it all down so you can compare like for like from the same question. -
I'd purchase a laser printer over inkjet, unless you are using it all time, bigger spend now but cheaper in the long run without having to replace dried up inks. Look to get something networked as well then you can printer from mobile devices and easier to put out the way if you need to keep the place tidy.

Thanks will have a look at it.

Thanks, looking back last version I used for 5!! Where do I get the ADMX from for GPO, cannot see anywhere to download them as that is handy.

Nope just use standard. I use mRemote NG to connect to my machines so makes it a bit easier to identify incase you are worried about making a change on a wrong server.

If anyone needs an open source version of office on a device what are recommending/installing these days? I've not done one for a while but have used Open Office and Libre before, what is the favourite at the moment?
-
I've done a couple of real life deployments to computers using the GPO loop back way and it works spot on. My plan is to migrate all our USB printers to network and monitor them through our existing PaperCut.

Davit2005 I am doing similar but rather than OU I am using targeting and that seems to be working ok.
-
Ah I didn't spot that, so used to having a physical SIM. It's an option I suppose.

Contract is up, never been 100% happy with my phone mainly for the camera due to its poor quality in low light, other than that its been a great phone (Samsung A52s). Time to upgrade, so do I stay with Samsung and go down the S23 Ultra route or go Google Pixel 8 Pro? Both are good phones only thing the Google doesnt have is dual sim, is it the end of the world no, beenficial at times yes but I can make do. Although I have my DSLR camera I do find myself using my phone more so thats why I want to move, other than that its just general phone, email, whatspp and odd app's that get used. Anyone running either of these and give me honest reviews on them.

From memory price for NG to MF isn't that bad, its when you add the device licenses on for the copiers and your PUA where it can add up but its still cheap I think. Job ticketing I'm sure its per job ticketing queues its priced on, cannot find my notes from previous as I only ever had a few customers ever go for it. If I can find the details I will share.

I have sucessfully got GPO working to do this with security groups for each printer so you can dump the computer account in and it maps it. Still a bit more tweaking and testing but will probably ned up using this as nothing extra is required to be installed and easier to manage than scripts for some of our staff.

Been a PlusNet customer for years but not used their DNS for some time but my Dad's connection has one of their routers and I havent changed it from the default DNS and hes not been on the phone moaning so must be ok.

I want to deploy shared print queues to various computers but to any user that logs into that computer. I will have at start around 10 queues but each one is to only go to 1 computer. Thoughts are GPO with loop back and item targeting put computer into security group for printer and deploy. Anyone do it differently? There could be many different people logging into the computers so cannot target users directly.

You can name the DID or ring group which will display on the screen. You can also add numbers into the contacts which will show up too.

We had multiple 2012 file servers, one bigger than the other that was causing us issues upgrading to 2016 so we detached the volumes for the storage, cloned it, upgraded that and reattached them and was back online after serveral failed upgrade attempts.

Anyone running a SIP trunk for personal use?
MatthewL replied to Davit2005's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I use AAISP for mine, doesnt get loads of use but for the sake of less than £2 a month plus any calls does me. I'd use them again, maybe if I was making more volume then I might shop around but cannot fault them. They do offer SIP to SIM services if that is of anyuse. -
Shudders hearing the word Ipaq, before the days of smart phones and 3G these use to be a bain of my life, we had 1 department that heavily used them, nothing but issues, we must of chucked thousands at them over the years.

Is it an O365 user or local AD account? If its local AD you can restore objects to your AD depending how you have it setup.
-
Do you run Veeam backing your network up, you can restore users from there as we often have engineers who accidentally delete user.
-
I have just signed people up at home for £60 a year package from Microsoft but would OpenOffice do for majority of users unless you need more than Word & Excel? How can them prices be so low on CJS CJKeys @timbo343, £20 for office that seems far too cheap.
-
It is possible with formatting, I have done it in a previous job just dont have the file anymore with the answer in.
-
That is the style I am after. I had one years ago when we still had racks of physical servers, just seeing if they were still a thing!
