Good afternoon Everyone, I've just noticed that when creating an image my TaskSequence is not installing updates during the Post part. So it does a few in the Pre... Then when I have captured and deploy the image a shed load of updates get installed for both Office and Windows. Any idea why this is? Regards Gareth

Brilliant news. Congratulations and well done. Again I wonder if you would post the interview questions on here so that it may help others in the future? Agree totally - this is one of the best CPD sites out there. Good luck in your new job. GJE

Office 365 + DirSync - What's going to happen to the accounts?!
garethEds replied to L3OUGH's topic in Cloud Services
We found that they went into the recycle bin for O365. Because I was cleaning and experimenting with our setup I found a force delete/clean script that I could run that emptied the O365 recycle bin. Very handy it was. GJE -
We received our letter today telling us there would be an increase of £3.00 on top of our monthly. So I'm now in the process of convincing Mrs E that our Kodi box is the way forward. I find it brilliant, but she doesn't like the hassle and finds Sky a better interface (which is why we pay for it I guess). I'll be checking out package this week and any contracts I'm in and then cancelling. GJE

[Powershell] Does anyone have a script which .....
garethEds replied to halbaradkenafin's topic in Scripts
I wasn't criticising the idea, just saying that there is a site out there as well. Maybe someone could set up a repository for community scripts. GJE -

garethEds replied to halbaradkenafin's topic in Scripts
Isn't there a Microsoft Scripts library online? Here it is: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/scriptcenter/bb410849.aspx I tend to look here when I need something (which is not that often). Gareth -
I cannot get this to work - can someone confirm the command for me to mount the install.wim?

Our LEA have just bought into Azure in a big way and moved all of the school websites to the platform. It's great. I hear they are also moving their SharePoint over as well. Gareth

What wordpress themes do you use?
garethEds replied to kidpressingbuttons's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Our LEA setup a WordPress MU installation and purchased a theme called Enfold - very powerful. The site page builder is brilliant. Here is a link: WordPress - Enfold - Responsive Multi-Purpose Theme | ThemeForest Our website is: Ysgol Gyfyn Gwyr | Gareth -
Wonder how much it would really cost MS to give it free to schools so they can teach pupils about networking etc etc. We could do it with older hardware I know but was just thinking. GJE

Does anyone recognise the narrators voice on this? Mrs E thinks it is Phil Mitchell from EastEnders (McFadden????) - but couldn't find anything to confirm. Thanks Gareth

I'm nearly at that point. My kodi box does the job but convincing Mrs E that it is the way forward is the pain. All comes down to training I guess. I use Andy's Community Build (4.1 as of yesterday) and it's fab. I can see why people pay a lot of money for paid satellite services as they are so easily layed out - but again it comes with using the system over and over again. It's just getting too expensive. The box sets on satellite are good - but they are available elsewhere. Gareth

I don't think it is totally free. I believe your students get a certain allowance free every month. I tried to sign up for the Uni version but despite sending the online form, never heard a squeak. We have AzureAD setup and AD Sync working well now. GJE

I have an LG SmartTV and it's brilliant. I can download apps. Only last week did I download an IPTV app to play streams that can be found on the internet. A Google search will show you the channels you can get ;-) I'm close to cancelling a certain pay tv provider and just sticking with Freeview. GJE

Oh. That's quite harsh. Mine won't be white as Mrs E wants blue. 95mph? Not sure where you get that from and as for the 20" wheels - nahhhh. Never been into that. Went out in a mate's van this evening for s spin and it seemed okay. Needs to be carpeted and soundproofed a bit methings. The killer is the VAT because they are sold as commercial vehicles. That's annoying because it will be a family vehicle - so non commercial. Thanks for the reply though. GJE

I wonder if anyone has a T5 and would share their experiences of it. Thinking of getting one. Cheers Gareth

Windows 10 deployment books would be handy at this moment of time. Even if they are based on Technical Previews.

@rich_tech will be pleased :-) Thanks everyone. GJE

Here at school we are still running the RM Version of SuccessMaker Enterprise. We still pay them a support contract and are on version 1.7 something. Does anyone run the newest version? RM do not hold the license any more so we would have to go direct to Pearson. What sort of cost are we looking at? Many thanks Gareth

Evening All, Myself and @rich_tech are starting to research the upgrading of our 2012 HyperV system to 2012r2. We have two servers and around 10 VMs spread over both. All VMs are stored on a SAN and it all works lovely. We are now looking into upgrading to 2012r2. The opinion seems to be that an in-place upgrade cannot be done, so were were going to move all VMs to a spare server, then breaking the cluster before rebuilding the servers, rebuilding the cluster and then adding the VMs back in. Anyone done this? Any advice? Any web links? Surely there has to be an easier way. GJE

Just thought I'd come back in here to say that it is all finally working - of sorts. The way things are setup through our Smoothwall etc etc the LEA wanted us to setup the AADSync software as a service running under a different accout name - so we had to use all the command switches when installing. We had to install an SQL server (we started with SQL Express 2012) and then install direct to that with the database instance being set under the new runAs service account. SQLExpress didn't want to work so we built an SQL Server and had the AADSync software use that for it's storage. Finally today it worked - the service installed and this specific uer was allowed through the firewall with restriced permissions. The password sync is still not working, but that will do for today. This has been 4/5 weeks of work and frustration with a Microsoft tool which isn't as point and click as the various blogs make you believe. If you have a domain and a clean feed internet connection then it seems that it will work - otherwise it does not. Thank you everyone who has helped. GJE

HI @LosOjos - I had thought of using PowerPoint master slides to lock things down a bit. I just like pdfs. GJE

I don't need the pupils to have the software at home do I? Doesn't the Reader let them read and edit forms that have been created in Acrobat? I know pdfs are not meant to be edited. I assume I can lock a Word file down then. I'll look at that. GJE

Afternoon All, Are there any Adobe Acrobat experts here on EduGeek? What I'm after is advice or pointers on how to turn my printed booklets into Acrobat editable booklets. I'll explain a bit more. I have my class/pupil work booklets. I print them every year for the pupils depending on which module they are studying. I'd like to turn them into editable PDF files that can be written into and pasted into etc. For example if a pupil takes a screenshot of a directory structure using Print Screen, I'd like that they can paste it onto a page in the pdf document. I have done editable forms before, but wondered if I could take this further. When the books are finished, the pupils can them email them to me - where I can complete the marking sections. Saving me a fortune on copying. I don't want anyone to do this for me - just for some pointers, books worth buying, websites worth looking at - even a one/one tutorial on the phone (if anyone is that generous). Cheers all - I'm off to search Google now for ideas and pointers as well. I should add that I have Adobe Acrobat CC (V11 I think) on my machine. Gareth
