Hi @sted - yes the WAIK is updated for Windows 10. I[m stumped to be honest so I am going to spend some time re-installing MDT and WDS. Change to a more powerful server. I'm not going to do it right now - like I mentioned, it's only R&D and the deployment side is working fine. Something for after Christmas I think. Gareth

Yes indeed. I've even re-created the task sequences. When I start with a new OS I cut the task sequence right back - nothing get's installed, no software or WSUS updates. I do it this way just to check all is working. Then I add things back in one at a time, testing each step along the way. I guess this is the good thing about having HyperV - multiple attempts without wasting time. At the moment, it's failing at the first step. Not going to panic yet - it's only R&D time. Gareth

Another MDT 2013U1 issue that I've never encountered before. Windows 10 Enterprise base .wim installs. Goes to capture and on the 'Processing generalize phase SysPrep plugins' the capture just freezes. No idea what is happening and there is nothing in the logs. Just freeze. I am using HyperV 2012r2 to create the image so can delete and start again, but this is the third time the crash has happened. This happening to anyone else? Gareth

Weird issue here so I wondered if anyone else had seen it. Trying to capture a Win10 Edu (x64) image - task goes through and then fails with an error along the lines of telling me to use a full version. Win10Ent(x64) - goes straight through and stops ready for me to add apps and capture. Next weird thing - the continue script does not appear on the desktop. Cannot remember if I put that into part of the task sequence. Can anyone? Gareth

Hi All, Is it possible to set custom variables in the AD? That is store information that otherwise would not automatically be stored? For example a seperate username and password for a different service? Gareth

This was the first worry. We have MDT which boots from WDS first. Yes - I should have thought of that. I suppose a timer would be handy here. If nothing happens after 20 seconds then continue with the OS boot. As @Oaktech notes below I do indeed mean streaming the OS across the network - I guess that is out of the question. Morning, Time for one of my random questions that are generated from strange thoughts during the day. Are there any F12 boot managers out there that would give me the following options: 1. Boot into our MDT 2. Boot into current OS 3. Boot virtual Windows 10 from our Hyper V server So when my classroom PC boots up it gives me those options? Not sure how I get a machine to boot a virtual 10 but that's a different question. Gareth

OKay - time for one of my waffly research questions where I try and explain what I want (if it is possible). I have an LEA domain account. Let's call it gareth@domainA. When I log into my machine it authenticates against the LEA AD which is held at the LEA centre. I can log into Office 365 via ADFS and we have a mapped OneDrive account via a powershell script. It works lovely but has taken some time to get up and running. There is no Office 365 mail account associated here. I also have a seperate account held by a seperate company. Let's call it edmondson@domainB. This account authenticates against their AD and can be logged into Office 365 via ADFS. This account does have an Office 365 mail account. It has a 1Tb OneDrive account associated with it as well. So far so good. I think I got that clear. Now then - is it possible to link the two ADFS accounts together so that when I log into gareth@domanA (which is the primary logon) it will magically log me into edmondson@domainB and somehow map a drive to this secondary OneDrive (letting me forget abour the original OneDrive account). So basically can I log into one and via the magic of ADFS be automatically logged into the other? Hope that makes sense to someone - but it's a scenario we find ourselves in as a school. Afternoon, I'm trying to collect some research together to feedback to the LEA (they are busy guys) - so I wonder if anyone can help. We currently authenticate on our network over the LEA broadband network to 4 2012r2 domain controllers which are held centrally at the LEA. It works of course and does the job. Back when it was all 2003r2 schools had an on-site DC which they could authenticate against. Yet it didn't really work. Schools were authenticating against it but occasionally they would send the request back to the centre DCs. This was causing issues. If there was a broadband outage he in-school DCs had to be restarted to that they re-opened their connections. So - we had a massive outage yesterday. Every school in the LEA suffered. The Logicalis link went so nobody could authenticate against the centre DCs. This now raises the question once again of on-site DCs. If we had one in place then authentication could have carried on and the only issue would have been web browsing/email. Does anyone know of a way to use an on-site DC for authentication as the primary contact, but then set some rules to only use the centre DCs should the on-site one be unavailable for some reason. The on-site one would also need to store the GPOs but also replicate centre GPOs etc etc. So they would mirror the LEA DCs but not be the primary authenticators. Is this making sense to anyone? Hi all, Am I right in thinking that the free Azure AD does not allow you to mass assign applications to users? We've just moved our Google Apps logons to authenticate against our AzureAD (which mirrors our LEA one - but not quite there with ADFS yet). I need to assign permissions to all the users in Azure but at the moment have to choose around 20 at a time in the Azure Management Window. It's a pain. Any idea how I can just assign to everyone? Yes - we auto log in. We set it to kiosk mode and then have Office 365 as the main Chrome window when it opens. This means users can log into their O365 and edit their documents. There is a setting in the management console. It's brilliant. Gareth

I don't think our school is big enough for a helpdesk - but I do like the idea of having one. I'm sure @rich_tech would use one - but with small staff and a small site I cannot see the point. Gareth

If it works - the staff should count themselves lucky. We will do what we can with a reduced budget and some spit and sellotape :-) If it's not working - well there we go. We will do our best to get it fixed as soon as we can or when the budget allows. We do not produce an SLA for staff or pupils. Despite being a teacher - I often find other teachers have unrealistic expectations when they compare a domain joined PC to their home PC. Gareth
