HI @jslate1980 - I didn't find the blog but I did find updated iLO drivers on the HPE website alongside another raft of updates. I UPdated the iLO first and upgraded to 2019. Everything went swimmingly and we now have a 2019 HyperV cluster in place. Hooray. Gareth

Evening All, So this evening, as it was the end of our 8 week term I decided to look at upgrading our HyperV cluster from 2016 to 2019 using an in-place upgrade. I'd planned to do a clean upgrade next week anyway so thought I'd try it. Everything was backed up - all HyperV machines and the three cluster servers. All safe and tested. So - here we go. Set off Server 1 (HP380g8 e)- Took all the VMs off, restarted it to clear any pending restarts and set it off. It chugged away. Took about an hour. Rebooted and everything was in the same place but a nice speedy 2019 server. Set off Server 2 (HP380g8 e) - accessed the mounted ISO, started looking for 2019 updates and bang - died. Blue screen a 'Stop Code: DPC Watchdog Violation' - thought - hmmmm. Ok. Leave it for a mo. I'll look it up. Could be a driver issue. Set off Server 3 (HP380g8 p) - did exactly the same, moved VMs to Server 1 and 2 (which was still on 2016) - off it went, upgraded. I went for a run and when I came back it was running 2019 - all nice and dandy. I now have my cluster running in mixed mode (or whatever it is called). I'll have to go in on Monday and look at Server 2. I've made sure all drivers are updated, all CUs are in place, everything looked to be working - no cluster errors. No event viewer errors (besides thge big one). Apart from Server 2 - it all went really well. But what is wrong with Server 2. Anyone have any ideas based on that stop code? Evening All, Wondering if anyone has used Worpress to set up a daily announcements board for their school - with staff logging on, posting a daily announcement, setting categories so it only appears when someone clicks on a year group etc etc? I have the web server. Thought about writing my own version and learning pHP/SQL etc but instead thought maybe someone had a Wordpress template already set up - or knows of one. Cheers Gareth

Hi @JRA Take a look at OSDBuilder from David Segura - we use it to customize our WIM. We do not install any apps into the image - instead we use a mixture of PDQDeploy and GPOs. WimWitch is also a good GUI for OSDBuilder too. Regards Gareth

Hi @Incredible - this is quite an old threat. SuccessMaker isn't sold in the UK any more from what I was told back then. We bought it just before Pearson pulled out of the UK market. We were (and took) a full refund. Gareth

Based on the information here and what I've read on the web 'Wake on LAN' isn't supported in Windows 10 any more. That is the official Microsoft line. Brilliant. So what I have done is...… created two task schedules that get sent out to the machines via GPO. One wakes the PC up at 7:30 from a state of sleep whilst the other runs at 4:30pm - shutting down any machines that are not being used (are idle). If they are not idle the task does not run. The task will try again in 30 mins. I am testing that this evening as I will still be here at 4:30pm. I'll change the time eventually as we often have open evenings. Fingers crossed it works. Gareth

Yes I believe it is to do with S states in the BIOS but I cannot find it. I've updated the BIOS on our 600G1 machines and the network drivers. Just need Windows to do a full shutdown instead of a fast one.

By hard/soft you mean like the two bullet points above then yes I do. From what I gather it seems when it goes into faststartup it doesn’t shut down properly. It simply hibernates. When I turn it off with the 5second powerbutton press it conpletely shuts it down. When I use a remote shutdown app like Emco it is a soft shutdown. It’s annoying me. G

That GPO doesn't disable it. I've been looking at it all day as I believe it is affecting our WOL. Gareth

Evening All, Tearing my hair out with WOL and Windows 10 (and 7). As I've posted before it has stopped working. I've been testing today with two machines plugged into a 'clean' switch. Both machines on the same VLAN. What I discovered was... If I switch the machines off with shutdown.exe or other shutdown software then the machine will not WOL. If I switch the machine off with the power button held in for 5 seconds then the machine will WOL So - how do we explain it? A Google search gives results showing that I need to turn off FastStartup in Windows 10 with a registry setting. Fine - I can do that. I have done that. I have set the registry to 0 instead of 1. All good? Not a chance - despite seeing it the machines will not boot up when shutdown with software. (but they still work when pressing the power button for 5 seconds to power down). Morning all, Our machines do not wake up in the morning. This used to work but doesn't any more. Our WOL software is on a server which resides on a clustered HyperV installation and could pass through two switches. Would HyperV stop WOL working? Gareth

Sorry - I wasn't clear. They don't. MDT deploys the basic WIM and then PDQDeploys our apps. Gareth

I am the same - a custom WIM using OSDeploy from David Segura and then pdqdeploy to get the apps out. I just drop a new wim in updated with the updates every month. Gareth

As I upgrade our W7 estate I have prepared 1903 using OSDeploy from David Segura. We then use PDQ tools to make it all smooth.

We already use OSDBuilder by David Segura to remove apps etc but the icons still appear on the start menu despite it being redirected. Where does it merge?? G

Morning All, Despite having a redirected start menu and a tile xml layout file all working, Windows 10 is still showing commin programs (I've also turned this off as a GPO) - so users can still see the menu options for 'Microsoft Solitaire Collection' and '3D Viewer' etc etc How are these items being put there if I am redirecting?
