Morning All, Checked Azure this morning and my machine has turned up. Hooray. That works. Have now set the policy to look at all machines in our OU. Yeah. Now - to get the updates for the test ring working. Seems easy enough. However - quick question - how to I stop it reporting anything newer that 20H2? That is what we are staying on for a while. I know things are missing after this. Gareth

Morning all, I'm back. So everything seems to be set up regarding Update Compliance but it's still reporting no devices have registered. Following instructions, I have tried to run the Microsoft Update Compliance Script but it seems to fail when running the census.exe file. Or at least I think it's failing. I got the impression that when the script was successfully run, the test machine would show up on the Azure Dashboard. I've also read it could take up to 72 hours for a machine to appear. Morning All, So many thoughts floating around at the moment - so apologies for questions in various threads. Here is the latest one. I have been given 11 servers by Fords. HP 380G8 devices. Pretty good too. I've made a super server and have setup a Hydration Kit network for playing around on. The server is connected to the network but the Hydration network is on it's own internal virtual switch - so cannot see the network and doesn't kick conflict. For those interested, it's this one: Hydration Kit For Windows Server 2019, SQL Server 2017 and ConfigMgr Current Branch - Deployment Research I plan on using it for my own research and also to teach some of our non-academic kids (but who are quite technical). It runs DHCP, DNS, SCCM, MDT and a Fileserver. Do you know of any way I can get it to see the internet using NAT but not conflict on the network? It can be done - but I'm not sure how to do it. There were instructions on the website, but they don't seem to work for me. Any advice appreciated. Thanks Gareth

Evening All, I've been reading about WuFB and it's advantages/disadvantages. So I have a few questions before I go any further... 1. Can it be used without inTune or SCCM? Is there a way of configuring it so that clients use it, but I just control it? (crap question really). 2. What is the URL? To set this up? Any pointers? I'm working through the docs at the moment but nothing shows me how to set it up beyond setting the GPOs. Cheers for reading what are simple questions. Gareth

Thanks everyone. I get the profile ways - but those files must surely be on the hard drive/SSD. Why are no disc recovery apps picking them up? Gareth

This is annoying - not found any reference to this when searching Google. However - surely the files will be on the hard drive somewhere? No recovery software can find them in the Desktop folder (or when searching the whole C drive). I'm using Recuva for the scans. Any other free ones? Gareth

Maybe that is the case - but surely the files would still be on the hard drive? Thinking of it - the computer was used last Thursday and this happened on Friday. Gareth

I have come into work this morning a user is reporting that files have gone missing from his desktop. It seems his user profile has completely reset. It has lost email settings and links to favourites. It has also lost the mapped/linked drives. I have checked the C drive and the profile is there - but it's a brand new one that has over written the old one. Now - I tell them not to save on the desktop - but this is not the issue right now (they will be told again). I've run file recovery software - doesn't find anything. None of the missing files are there. Has anyone seen this issue before? Cheers Gareth

Morning @Koldov - I'm sure it's the AC2 step we don't need but the whole process works at the moment so I don't think I will get rid of anything at the moment until I can sit down and work it all out. As for DEP and VPP - we use AC2 to prepare the iPads and put them into ASM which then controls the DEP/VPP - however I do send out apps with Meraki. I only use the ASM bit to purchase apps, Maybe I've got it all wrong - but it's working for us. G

We enroll using Apple Configurator 2, which links them them to Meraki and ASM. Seems to work. I'm sure there is a step we could bypass. Maybe the AC2 part of it? GJE

Hi there - am going with this. I've started to build the PDQ sequence and am testing it bit by bit. Seems ok so far. Once it's installed I'll delete the directory I created. Good afternoon, Are any schools using PDQ Deploy for their in-place Windows 10 updates? We are currently on 1909 and want to look at upgrading to a newer version. I could re-build every machine manually - but that is too time consuming. So.... PDQ Deploy will be the way forward. i've tried it but it takes ages and often times out. I've followed instructions on the PDQ Community Forums but again run up against time outs. So has anyone managed to do it here? Cheers Gareth

We are currently running Server (DataCentre) 2019 version 10.0.17763.2183 (1809 Release) Is there a newer release version (above 1809) that includes the desktop experience? OKies - never looked at that. What sort of things are you blocking? Our deployment solution is fine - we use one ISO with targeted drivers and then PDQDeploy to fire things out depending on rules in PDQInventory. Cheers Luke - appreciate the effort to suggest AppLocker.

Afternoon All, I'm wondering where next to take the network. We've had a massive LEA investment in wifi and new switches. We have Office 365 provided through the Welsh Assembly. We have a 3 server Hyperv V Cluster with a SAN - all backed up. We are (almost) fully Windows 10 with just a few left to move over. What's next? What cool or essential things are you all doing on your networks to keep it developing? To keep it moving forward? I've looked at AppV and LAPS but do I need them? Not sure about AppV - cannot see the point. Or shall I just leave it all alone and love the easy life? Gareth
