  1. Hi @Boredguy - here is the error message Yellow box. The network path was not found The network path was not found The network path was not found The network path was not found The network path was not found ERROR - Unable to map a network drive to \\ygg-vMDT\MDTDeploy$ ZTI error opening SQL Connection: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect().]SQL Server does not exist or access denied (-2147467259) Unable to establish database connection using [CSETTINGS] properties. Never had this before. Am at the point of uninstalling SQL and going again. Gareth
  2. Yes - everything looks good. Nothing has changed for ages. It just works - but slow now processing the rules. Just waiting for a machine to build whilst I test recreating the shares. Gareth
  3. Hiya Pal, Server has been checked and rechecked. The only one not currently running is SQL Server Agent - it's set to automatic and seems to only run when needed. All others are running SQL Server SQL Server Browser SQL Server VSS Writer Cheers Gareth
  4. Afternoon All, I've not had an issue with MDT for a while now and it's been really smooth. Recently the MDT database connection seems to have broken - despite nothing changing on the server. The end of task sequence message throws errors that SQL cannot access the MDTDeploy$ share that it has accessed for the past x amount of months/years. The database is still there in MDT. Nothing has changed. Has anyone seen this before? How does the SQL server stop accessing a deployment share by itself? Cheers Gareth
  5. Hi @Chris_Cook, Thanks for this. I've downloaded it and installed it on the computer. I had to turn off the need for signed drivers on this machine. The USB>Parallel adapter didn't work so I ordered a small parallel port card which I have fitted. Printer driver installed again and attached to the card port. It sends the file but we are given a 'Control Error' on the laser cutter. Gutted. I thought I was there. I was really hoping it would work - but alas it has not worked so it looks as if we may need to go back to the old Windows XP standalone machine. Thanks for your help with this, Gareth
  6. Good afternoon All, Bit of a long shot, but has anyone managed to get a parallel port Mercury II Laster Cutter to work through Windows 10 (1909?). I've purchased a USB>Parallel Port adapter to try and it's a no go. Seems a shame to throw away this laser cutter which works on Windows XP (a standalone). So thought I would ask here. Thanks all, Gareth
  7. Hi Pal - that's what I thought. So I've tested and removed all Teams from my laptop and gone to install again. It downloads a file called Teams_windows_x64.exe which I can run. One would hope it would upgrade in the background (come on Microsoft) - but it doesn't. We've not blocked anything - so must be at LEA level. Strange. I assumed it would install to the profile too. Gareth
  8. Good morning all, On our staff laptops - Microsoft Teams needs to update and as we are using the MSI it is proving a little bit difficult as staff users do not have permissions to install software. Is it possible to allow one application to install but stop others? I have the application .exe name but naturally when the application tries to install the restricted staff users is stopped from installing. If we were in work I would fix it but as we are away from the school campus I cannot help every member of staff remotely. Any advice appreciated. Thanks Gareth
  9. Hi All, Another hours research and it was sorted. As @computer_expert said that was one of the settings and then I had to set another GPO option to show the Bluetooth panel only. Gareth
  10. Sorry to hijack this thread. I've just been asked the same thing. Our GPOs are set at an LEA level and we can add our own to override them if needed. It works. However on our new staff laptops I have been asked to enable Bluetooth so users can add bluetooth headphones. We have the bluetooth icon in the taskbar but when users click on the 'Add a Bluetooth Device' the settings window opens and then immediately closes. So - what have the LEA set at the high level? Or what would I need to add to enable it? I can see that I can enable some Control Panel settings and have tried with a canonical name for devices - but it doesn't work. I'm clearly missing something. Cannot find much on Google. Cheers all Gareth
  11. Good morning All, Does anyone have spare serial cables for legacy boards and the power pack that goes with them? Maybe you have a load in a box that you will never use again? I WANT THEM... :-) PLEASE. Can anyone help? Cheers Gareth
  12. Hi @phillyrovers, We've had to connect it back to a Windows 7 SP1 machine to get some of this information. The board is USB Firmware is reported as V2.63 Build 0 Driver Version is 5.8.46.3 ID is 1 The serial number field does not show. The software driver on the W7 machine shows 5.8.19 which is the latest Taking the board off the wall tells me: Model Number/Product Code: PRM-AB1-01 Serial Number: 4093763071 Internet firmware update tells me there is no update available. Is there a file that would help? I'll move this to the Promethean Support online to see if there is a reply - but will keep checking here. Thanks Gareth
  13. Hi All, We are having trouble trying to upgrade our oldest boards. They simply do not work on Windows 10 1909. So I'm in the process of upgradng firmware. However my first board has failed with 'This type of device is not upgradeable. Please contact technical support'. I cannot afford to go around upgrading every ActivBoard 1 to a newer version - so need to find answers. Why would I not be able to upgrade firmware? The board is currently on 2.63 Build 0 and we are going to 2.71 Build 0 - but cannot. Any help appreciated. Any email for Promethean Support? Gareth
  14. Definitely Mission Impossible 1. Doesn't Ethan then see his mentor/boss get shot and fall into the river?
  15. Shwmae @Android2408 - we ask our LEA for software. Apparently they have access to the relevant ISOs. Gareth
  16. Evening All, For a while I've been trying to get Windows 10 and WOL to work across the Curriculum network but am having no luck. Any help appreciated. We purchased a piece of softwrae called EMCO Remote Shutdown - it's great. Shuts the machines down brilliantly on a schedule. It also tries to wake them up on a schedule - except it doesn't work. Through reading I've read that Windows 10 doesn't shut down fully when sent the shutdown command. There are two types of shutdown: Emco shuts the machine down - a soft shutdown. WOL doesn't work. I power off the machine with a 5 second power button press. A hard shutdown - EMCO Wol works immediately. The company don't seem to have any idea beyond the way we broadbast WOL packets. The software tries several methods - none work. So - there must be a way to force Windows to perform a 'hard shutdown' with the shutdown command. I'm happy to ditch the software if we can get something else to work - but for now am stumped. Any help appreciated. Gareth
  17. Hi All, I am using PDQ Deploy to set up a task schedule on remote machines. It's worked. However if I run it again on the same machine (just testing) - the task of setting the schedule fails with the error that the schedule is already there. Can anyone tell me how I would write a script that works along the lines of: If Task is already in place then finish and move on without error else Set the task End if I've managed to do it with directories but no idea how do check a task schedule. Any advice appreciated. Gareth
  18. Hi all - found a work-around on the web - basically to give access to the C drive. Not ideal - but it's only for staff laptops - so I don't have to worry about curious students. However - in the near future I will have to change this. Time for a tweet to the OneDrive team. Gareth
  19. Good evening All, I'm having an issue with OneDrive on Windows 10 1909 on our LEA network. I wonder if anyone would have an idea what GPO setting would stop it opening? I can connect to it and it lists the folders in File Explorer - but clicking on anything gives me a restriction. I have attached the screen shot. Any help appreciated. Thanks Gareth
  20. HI there - a lazy user question here. Has anyone created a simple 'Logoff Button' application that can sit on the right hand side just above the clock? Or do you know of a free one that works? I know it's lazy and users can go looking at the start menu - but just thought I'd ask. Cheers G
  21. Good evening all, Well what a busy couple of weeks. I hope you have all managed to keep safe and have not lost anyone close. I've not had chance to be on here but today I come cap in hand asking if anyone has a distance learning policy I could take a look at? We've made one which I am happy to share, but I wondered how it compared to others. Please DM me if you do and are willing to share - so we can swap. Thanks everyone, Gareth
  22. We tested Teams today with me in an Office and my class of 25 in another room - It was ok. This was using the web client. What we would like is a way of not allowing the pupils to use video. Allow the teacher but not the kids. We don't want anything dodgy from the kids - or insights into their rooms etc. - - - Updated - - - We tested Teams today with me in an Office and my class of 25 in another room - It was ok. 23. Morning all, For the past few years we have used Support Warehouse for supporting our servers and SAN. This years quote is quite expensive and I'm looking to cut costs - but not quality of service. Is anyone using a different company that can offer support for our HP servers/SAN? Cheers Gareth
  24. Morning All, My room of 30 PCs has been running fine since the Summer holidays on Windows 10 1903 Education. Since coming back after Christmas I'm getting random machines in the room refusing to connect to the network. It turns out the NetLogon service is not starting. Once I re-start it as a local admin user it works and all is good. There seems to be no pattern to which machines are causing this issue. Why would it fail? If anyone has seen it.... Cheers Gareth
  25. Ahh this one is the Surgeon. I know which other one you mean - I've seen it appear on my 'box' Gareth
