1. All sorted - really weird. Went home last night frustrated about it. Read some more and came in this morning and it was suddenly working. So package uploaded and sent to a user. Ideally I want it sent to a machine and not a user as everyone can see everything at the moment. Cheers Gareth
2. I thought that was what I am doing... \\ygg-vappv\AppVContent$\Office 2016 AppV\AppVPackages\O365ProPlusRetail_VisioProRetail _en-us_x86.appv Is what I am using at the moment. Gareth
3. Right - that is fixed. Permissions for my users were not in place. Now I have a different error: Nothing about this in the docs. The packages simply reside on a drive on the server in a shared folder as outlined in the docs. :-( Googling furiously. I'm guessing it's something to do with IIS Gareth
4. Good afternoon all, I am currently experimenting with AppV5.1. The Management and SQL servers are 2016 and on seperate boxes. i've been following the instructions found here: https://msitproblog.com/2016/01/25/how-to-configure-an-app-v-5-1-full-infrastructure/ It is currently going well. However when I go and add a package to the console I am getting an error: So I'm assuming my permissions are wrong somewhere. Can anyone advise? Thanks Gareth
5. Ok - I'm being really dull here but I cannot find any web console download. I've downloaded several files including firmware updates and the command line version - but nowhere can I find a web version. Can you help?
6. Afternoon All, Does anyone use HP iLO on their ProLiant servers? Is it a paid for product? If so - how much did you pay? Is it worth purchasing? Cheers Gareth
7. Evening All, On our hyperv setup we have a Windows 2012r2 server which runs EMCO Remote Shutdown and Wakeup software. It shuts machines down without any issues but refuses to wake them up using the WOL command. On a test of 30 machines - it does not wake them up. In testing we have installed the EMCO shutdown software on my physical windows 10 machine. It works fine and wakes the 30 test machines up. What (if anything) could be stopping the WOL command passing through the Hyper-V virtual switch and hitting the network? Could it be anything? The Hyper-V servers (3 of them) are connected to two Cisco 200 switches - for redundancy and those two are connected to our central backbone switch which if I remember is a Cisco 3650 If anyone has any ideas - I'd love to hear them, Cheers Gareth
8. Afternoon Guys, For the first time ever I'm having to allocate security groups to machines and have been looking at using a script to do this during the deployment task sequence. However - is this the best way to do it or can it be done through the MDT Database? If anyone uses a script - where do they set it to apply? Here is the script I am considering: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Add-the-current-computer-3759f02d Happy to hear opinions. Regards Gareth
9. Morning all, We are having an issue with our Spirit Laser Cutter. Not sure what - but it's resulted in a new desktop being purchased. I have been asked to look at the issue as previous attempts have failed to get it working. The instructions say not to use a GCC USBSetup program on a 64bit OS. That;s easy enough - but every download from the laserprona.com website is a GCC USB Setup version. The instructions talk about extracting a 64 bit driverf from a zip file - but that zip file cannot be found. Does anyone have it? Or even a 64bit driver for W7? I have tried extracting the compressed .exe installer, but there is no .zip or driver file in there for some weird reason. Any help appreciated. Cheers Gareth
10. Morning People, I'm seeing this error in a machine event viewer - can anyone help with what it means? This is a machine on or domain but why is it trying to take over? Cheers Gareth
11. Ohh right - I didn't know that. I've spoken to Overclockers and we are sending all three of their components back to them for testing. Means another week without things for my nephew, but it will hopefully rule things out. Thanks everyone Gareth
12. It's a Ryzen 3 1200 quad core. The GFX is on the mobo - doesn't that kick in? Gareth
13. Rather annoyingly I cannot get the onboard gfx to kick in. I've removed the gfx card but it's not picking up the onboard. I assumed it would automatically kick in when realising it didn't have onboard.
14. Hiya @DalekSec - originally I couldn't even get that far in the BIOS as it would just hang. When the board came back I managed to get it up to the latest version. I don't have other components to try unfortunately. It's not something I generally do - and why I usually purchase ready built PCs. :-) I'll try the RAM in different sockets. I'll also revert back to onboard gfx. Gareth - - - Updated - - - Hi @Fazza - we did. All except the gfx card. - - - Updated - - - Hi @jonbd - that's a good one. The BIOS has been reset and everything set to auto. I'll take a look. Gareth
15. Afternoon All, I have an interesting problem that hopefully someone can help with. I've been looking at my nephew's PC which he has built himself. For some reason it is freezing - even when accessing the BIOS it is freezing. Only a restart will cure it. So - we sent the motherboard back to Overclockers for testing (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B450M-DS3H-rev-10#kf) - they tested it and it came back fine. I rebuild the PC, installed the processor, put in the RAM and gfx card and for a few hours it worked fine. I've put in a new SSD for him and tried to install Windows 10. It's gone ok but now it's started freezing again. In the moments that I can get into W10, it shuts itself down and will not restart until I pull the power out and reset the BIOS. During the install of Windows 10 there is a restart after it copies all the files over. This restart also hangs the computer and it doesn't boot. I'm stumped here. I'm not one for building PCs to be honest. I assumed it was the MOBO due to it freezing within the BIOS. Any advice? Any tests I can run? Cheers Gareth
16. We've just changed from oil central heating/water to gas. It has been amazing. We've never had a combi boiler before. We researched many boilers and there was one German make which we looked at fitting. We were advised against it and ended up going for a Worcester 38CDi. This powers our heating, our water and our under-floor heating in the kitchen. I looked into different systems but decided on Hive. It works well - I have two thermostat controllers - one for the heating and one for the UFH. I bought the Hive Hub which links with my Alexa - although I've not set this up yet. It's ok on the whole and does the job but my main gripe is that I cannot have controllable radiator thermostats with Hive. I can have lightbulbs and firealarms etc but not thermostats for individual rads. I have a mate who has a Tado system and he swears by it. Each to their own. Since having the Hive, I've read up more about Tado and might have gone there had I known a bit more. Gareth

PDQDeploy

Evening All, We are currently evaluating PDQDeploy as a means of deploying some packages. It's expensive per Admin user point @ $450 and I'm not sure of any UK suppliers who can invoice it. Anyway - do people use it? I know they do - but could you tell me how you find it? I'm currently on the Enterprise trial for 14 days and have already had an issue with Adobe Reader DC 19 installing - it hangs for ages. Not sure what it could be. My aim would be to tie it into MDT - I've found a page for this - but has anyone done it? What about software that doesn't have pre-made packages - such as Sibelius or the Serif software? Have you created your own? Are people allowed to share packages they have created? Any discussion welcome. Thanks Gareth
18. Wow @Arthur - thank you very much. I will try it asap. Gareth
19. Evening All, Does anyone have the 64bit Bitlocker repair tool from Microsoft that works on Windows 10? I've tried downloading it and installing it but every machine I try it on tells me there is a signed certificate error. I am downloading from here as I cannot find another version: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17294 Cheers Gareth
20. Evening @ADMaster - yes you are correct. However there are some apps that do not come as MSI or do not come with silent installer switches. Any idea how to install VBExpress 2010 with. Silent switch? May need to create a fat image after all. :-( Cheers Gareth
21. Hi there @Arthur - thanks for all the help. It's sorted now. I've spoken to the dev - David Segura on Twitter. Really nice chap who has helped. Send him screen shots and he spotted it straight away. The issue was being caused by registry editing permissions being disabled. "Why was this?" I hear you cry - well we've moved to a new GPO structure within the LEA and I simply hadn't enabled it when bringing my old GPOs over. Silly me - all my fault. I currently have my image being built with updates being added. So - thanks for the help. Gareth
22. Hi @Arthur - thanks for this. I get down to the 'Update-OSMedia - Execute -SkipWinpeCU' command and I'm getting the same error. OSMedia content not found. Yes I've been reading the quick-instructions. It's the one I have been following whilst trying to learn about it. Gareth
23. I'm having a bit of a nightmare with it at the moment. I'm importing the media but when trying to update it I'm being told there is no media and that I have to import it. Strange. No help online. Gareth
24. You are correct of course - but I have apps than need installing and I cannot get them to go on silently during deployment. It's something I will try and work out. Gareth
25. Ahhh that SCCM step is where I fail. We do not have SCCM and I do it all via MDT so at the moment until I can get time to install all my apps silently via script then it's going to be import, install and capture. Shame really. I'm sure it would be great and it's something I may work on in future as we do not really install a lot of apps. Gareth
