  1. Ahhh that SCCM step is where I fail. We do not have SCCM and I do it all via MDT so at the moment until I can get time to install all my apps silently via script then it's going to be import, install and capture. Shame really. I'm sure it would be great and it's something I may work on in future as we do not really install a lot of apps. Gareth
  2. I've just started with this and it was all going so well until I ran the 'Update-OSMedia' command and got an error telling me to import-media first (which I had done). No idea what I'm doing wrong - nothing on the website to help either.
  3. So - you just do your stuff with this and then import the custom .wim into MDT and capture before deploying? Gareth
  4. Sorry to be a pain but is there a script for 1803 that I can run during deployment of an image? Or can I run it just before capturing my latest image attempt? Cheers all Gareth
  5. Evening All, It's been a while since I've visited these parts - I hope everyone is well. I've finally decided to jump back into the Windows 10 image building after ditching it several times. Again we are using MDT and the capture process is going quite well so far. I thought i'd ask if anyone has a list of steps they take when producing the image. I'm aware of removing apps - but do you do this to the reference image just before capture or do you do it at the end of the deployment process? I'm at the stage of adding my software into the fat image. Are there any cool scripts, things etc that I can do? I'm searching and reading at the moment - but often the real world is better than the blogs I read. Cheers all, Gareth
  6. Yes - but I don't really want the staff seeing the pupil printer or the pupils knowing the staff printer is there. Gareth
  7. Morning All, I'm having a little issue with printer deployment and wondered if anyone could help. At the moment, printers are deployed via the user side GPO with different ones for staff and pupils. Yet the GPO is applied at machine level - so we have to use loopback processing. Now then - the LEA are re-designing their network and hoping to get rid of loopback processing. So I'm left with looking how to deploy my printers. I know how to do it at machine level and can deploy the pupil printer to a machine. I can also deploy the staff printer to a machine, but they do not appear and dissapear depending on user. When the machine turns on - the printer is deployed. Pupils can print direct - brilliant it worked. However when the staff logon they can also see the pupil printer which means they can print direct without accounting. Ideally they would have a different printer queue (they get a secure queue). So maybe I am thinking of deploying both printers to the machine but only showing one depending on who is logged in. Can printers be hidden from view depending on who is logged in? If so - how? Cheers Gareth
  8. I#'m getting the following when installing via Powershell: Why they cannot make it downloadable like they used to is beyond me. Gareth
  9. Sorry to resurrect this thread - we're moving from oil heating to gas at home and wondered what people think of Hive. We have looked at the Worcester Wave system as it works with the boiler (38CDi) we are having. I'm stuck between that and Hive. I like the look of Hive for some reason. Has anyone got Hive? Gareth
  10. Morning Guys, We are testing a Windows 10 installation for the LEA which has to be placed in a different section of the LEA Domain OUO Structure. We are using our MDT server and it currently deploys outr W7 image to where it's meant to. Is it possible to change my customsettings.ini file to detect the OS and then dump the new W10 machine build into the correct/newer OU - yet keep the W7 builds in our current OU setting? Cheers Gareth
  11. @Steve21 - LEA guys fixed it. I'll copy and paste what our guys said: Seems to have fixed it anyway. Thanks for your help again Steve. Gareth
  12. I have a feeling this explains it:
  13. I get this...
  14. Cheers Steve - alas it seems we have it set.
  15. I've asked the question, but I'm not sure how to do the last bit: "check on your nic settings is it set to update dns etc" Every day is a school day. Gareth
  16. SO - here this must be DNS:
  17. I've run the customsettings.ini file through the offline testing as indicated here: https://deploymentresearch.com/Research/Post/348/Save-time-and-avoid-pain-Create-a-MDT-simulation-environment and everything works fine on a normal windows PC. I'm wondering why my machine, when deploying cannot resolve ygg-vmdt Going to try with IP addresses. Suggests to me a DNS issue - but what would I ask the LEA - as they hold our dns servers. Gareth
  18. Could someone take a look at this ztigather log and help me? I'm building machines fine - so the server is working. But when it gets to the database section of it all it seems to loose connection and cannot find the share. Can anyone help? Or tell me why? Thanks Gareth
  19. Anyone? It's really weird. I've looked again and it's only when we add the database options does it slow right down. If it helps, it is a virtual MDT server with SQLExpress 2014 installed as the database software. Gareth
  20. Afternoon everyone, Quite recently we have noticed that our MDT server has gone really slow when processing the database rules. And boy do I mean slow. I've removed the rules as we don't really use them except to pull the machine name but it's still slow. So it must be the customsettings.ini file right? But I've not changed anything. Gareth
  21. Ohhhh FFS - that worked. It was there, honest. I deleted it and re-connected. Then suddenly the disks were added. Lucky my kids are in bed as the air is blue. Something so simple that I should have picked up on. Cannot believe it. Sorry everyone - I'm going to go and close my Edugeek account now. Gareth
  22. Disk manager shows them all. They are all formatted, online and initialised. - - - Updated - - - Yes - all volumes/drives show in Disk Management and have been brought online and initialised. They are also formatted. Gareth
  23. Evening All, Due to a recent hardware failure in school I've had to rebuild our P2000 G3 Raid 6 array. I've created the vDisk and created some Volumes and a Quorum volume. I've mapped them with specific LUNS and mapped them to the hosts (both of them). I think I've done it right. I've gone into iSCSI Initiator and connected the server to the target, linked the portals etc and autoconfigured the volumes. Then I've gone to add the disks in Failover Cluster Manager - and it goes wrong. FCM tells me there are no disks. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. I'm missing something and have been looking at this since last week. I've Googled, I've read, I've re-configured the SAN countless times - but nothing is striking me as wrong. Can anyone help? I'm happy to share my screen via Skype for Business if anyone would be willing to take a look whilst I chat them through. Help Gareth
  24. Morning All, Can anyone source any of the following HP drives for our P2000 G3 SAN? Model: EG0600JETKA EG0600FBVFP EG0600JWEBH EG0600FCVBK Many thanks Gareth
  25. Thank @Steve21 - I'm going to draw this up similar to your diagram. What about IP addressing - I'll get to that next week. Gareth
