  1. Since the 2009 Mac Mini will only support up to El Capitan , i'm going to guess the 2010 won't be far behind the support cut off in terms of MacOS, but you should still be able to get a good 2 year run out of them maybe 3 if you upgraded them to SSD's and put more RAM in. Apple still release security updates for the previous MacOS's normally the previous 2, just this week some El Capitan security updates were released. So we know they can get MacOS 10.12, so that should take security updates to 2019, even longer if the 2010 Mac Minis get support for MacOS 10.13 . On the other side if you were to get new Mac Mini's i would not worry about them being 2014 models so longs as you did a build to order and changed them to SSD's, as CPU's in general have not been a bottleneck is systems for many years excluding specific use cases.

  3. From the admin centre on Office 365, select the user, then one drive.

Windows 8 At the time the Mac could do some things that were great like Airplay, freeing the teachers desk from being static they could move the room around how ever they wanted. Also back then the hardware was miles ahead of the competion, 13 hour battery life, amazing track pads, and very portable. We were also getting very tired of the endless battle with virus/malware on Windows it was getting silly. Then add on that the iMac's in the IT suite use up less space, generated almost no heat, and used 34w each instead of the 100w the old computers were, and no aircon having to be on we are using a hell of a lot less electricty. Then the is the residual value of the hardware, previous stuff is worthless after 3 years, the Macs after 5 years still have a lot of value in them. Its 2017 now and the Macbooks are used all day every day by the staff and battery life is still great and no complaints, prevously staff would complain after about 1 to 2 years of the laptop locking up, battery not lasting long, fans always on or its slow, not had that yet 4 years on with the Macbooks. Best move we ever did, and this is from somebody who in 2010 would not buy an iphone and hated Apple. O yeah almost forgot, vandalism in 4 years in the IT suite with iMacs? 2 keys pecked off a keyboard ,thats it! Kids seem to respect the hardware more, but that i not listed in the spec sheet

Fully OS X on the client side (since 2013) after being Windows only for a decade, far less issues with MacOS we use deploy studio, profile manager and munki and some custom scripts. If it was starting fresh now i would get casper suite, its fine for me with the tools we have, but it would be easier on the other technicians or somebody new coming in.
  6. That would be too logical, Microsoft don't do logical anymore, they do messy and infuriating. o how i wish it was like the NT4/Windows 2000 days with nice Service Packs, although monthly updates is a step back in that direction.
  7. i think i just called the number that deals with the enrollment approval on 0800 9127302.
  8. I had this issue I had to call apple to get it resent . I had the first email to say it was pending approval , but not the one once it had been approved . The first email should have a contact number on, if you don't have that one make sure you phone enterprise support not normal consumer .
  9. Vote with your feet/wallet if not happy. Been 6 years with Zen, zero downtime during the day, a few 15 minute windows of planned maintenance, normally cisco router firmware update in early hours of the morning with notice of this given a few weeks in advance. Onsite Fortigate for filtering which i do the software updates on out of hours. Might cost more than most, but you get what you pay for, had many companies try and get us to move to them saying how cheap they are, but i will flat out not move from Zen with our Internet connection service trumps price, which is why we dumped the LEA broadband in the first place.
  10. Thats exactly why when i've finished a tub of quality street there is always many yellow wrapped ones left in it.
  11. I'm doing the exact same thing at the moment, i'm just using their provided scripts and then anything else manually. Just got the SEN Data, and Medical Data to do. Daunting task but i will be so glad to see the back of SIMS so its worth it.
  12. When we were in this position a year ago our Bursar looked at PS Financials as some other local schools had gone down that route, but decided to go HCSS HCSS Accounting | Financial Accounting Software for Education since its 100% web browser based it got my vote too.
  13. and i'm so glad it has, if it was still religious oriented i would just ignore it completely. I get nice lights and decorations in the dark days, parties, gifts, shopping days and a few days off, thats what christmas is, i love it
  14. You do not need an adaptor, you just need the correct cable. USB-C to Lightning Cable (1m) - Apple (UK)
  15. Yep, gave em all Macbook Airs 4 years ago. 4 Years on, battery life is still great and all day, no complaints about them being slow. Compared to previously people complaining all time once their laptop was over 1 year old. All our staff even use their own money to buy cover protectors for their Macbook Airs unheard of with the Acers, HP's, Dells we had before.
  16. Had 6 staff down to me already saying the cannot do X , Y or Z. I'm already extremely cynical about Office 365 and Microsoft, i don't need more ammunition.
  17. Thats what i do, i generally don't like the taste, texture and all the other bits that come with eating meat like bones, blood and gristle, and the smell of bacon cooking makes me want to puke. Its easier to just do without and say i'm vegetarian.
  18. I love them, was ace at college with Office 97, could play Pinball and Flight Simulator.
  19. I am in the same boat, but decided against it after reading this https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/exchange/2012/12/05/decommissioning-your-exchange-2010-servers-in-a-hybrid-deployment/ as we still use onsite AD and Sync it to Office 365.
  20. First off you need to move away from Sync'd home directories. They are gone in Mac OS 10.12 Sierra, no longer supported. We have almost 100 Mac Staff laptops deployed. We still use Mobile Accounts so it caches the AD login details, but we tick 'Force Local Home Directory'. We have Time Machine Server for backup, and OneDrive business for storing documents in so they can get their files on their Mac, iPad, or on another computer via the web browser.
  21. Why not dump SIMS? Get something web browser based like iSAMS?
  22. Another vote for Zen for the same reasons as FN-GM . Its so nice to have technical people at the other end when you phone.
  23. Zen , Technical people at the other end instead of script readers, UK based call centre, downtime in the last 6 years? Zero with the exception of planned maintenance which is updates on the core router, normally told weeks in advanced and are usually just a 15 minute window in the early hours of the morning. Cheapest? Nope, but you get what you pay for.
  24. Did it about 10 years ago, on a 2003 domain, with exchange 2003, was a doddle. But i'm sure i read it cannot be done if you have newer versions of Exchange on the domain, but don't quote me there.
