It's not as much as you would think, with everything in it works out at about 45GB per night, I run it as overwrite so it never really uses any more than 50GB of space on the NAS which is a very small amount for the peace of mind it provides. To the same NAS I also run a full backup of everything on a Friday, that takes about 54hrs to complete, half that time is the verify, but its very large were talking many TB's, but again it is good for peace of mind as then we have it on both tape rotation and on NAS in another building, also the tapes are in a seperate building too in a fire proof safe, bad odds if all 3 burn down i'd say. Makes small recoveries easier too as you dont have to grab the tape, just inventory the B2D file and grab it from there within minutes. D -

Backups if you do them through Sims.net are stored in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Backup as default. If you use the Management Studio you will have specified a default location. But more to the point why do you not have a backup, as you mentioned in your post?? -

This is the fix for reason 0, not sure why your files arent there though? 1 - Launch SQL Server Management Studio 2 - Take a backup. 3 - Paste the following into the query windows and then click execute use sims go exec sims.db_p_install exec sims.db_p_grant It does take a while, but will resolve the reason 0 error. Yeah im good thanks Mike, all is well at my new place, although my new place can be anywhere :-) which is a good thing. I think your making a difference, somebody has to fight the battle for Sims, people are quick to blame things they don't understand Mike. D

Terminal Server Problem - Windows 2003
danrhodes replied to Techdw's topic in Windows Server 2000/2003
It's just a missing DLL file. Download from mfc42.dll free download - DLL-files.com and place it in your system32 folder. Ker-Ching! D -
Why try to re-write something that is already there and works perfectly well, probably better than anything you will be able to make using batch anyway, what have you got to prove, that you can script in cmd? Just use delprof! EDIT: I've got one for you.... @ECHO OFF :START ECHO YOUR DAFT...STOP TRYING TO CREATE WORK FOR YOURSELF BY RE-WRITING DELPROF! GOTO START No seriously though, you do know that you want to be deleting the folders inside Docs and Setts not the Docs and Setts folder itself. D

RoboCopy its the futurte, a data moving revelation. Tried to turn that into a Peter Kay moment but failed!?!? But yes it is an excellent program! D

Yes you can setup shares so that you can map drives from a windows machine. Its a very good O/S, very stable and very quick to deliver. It also has capability to use external raid cards and internal software RAID if you dont want to splash out for an expensive physical card, Id defo go down the freenas route! D

I'd build one using 1TB SATA drives and use FreeNas for the O/z i've tried it before and it works really well.

Hi, Anybody got any ideas about this. When a student for example creates a file on Monday morning and works on the files for the period of the lesson, saves the document in their My Docs folder. The next day when they open the file, it is either not there or some changes have not been saved. This is happending to a few pupils. We use VSC twice a day and a tape backup every evening, also we use Folder redirection in GPO to redirect all the work etc. Any ideas would be very helpfull. Sorry its a bit of a rushed post also. D

Smoothwall Port Forwarding
danrhodes replied to danrhodes's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Im going to try this. 1. Disable DMZ on Router 2. Setup port forwarding on the router so that HTTP80 traffic routes to my RED Nic 3. Setup a firewall rule that routes all HTTP80 Traffic through my GREEN Nic to the IP 192.168.1.10 which is a workstation running apache/php. Ive had this working before but didn't write it down and with my head being full of many other things it has got pushed out. D -
Hey people, I am wanting to send traffic coming onto my RED nic to an address on my GREEN nic, I have setup the correct port forwarding on the SM, Red Eth0 Pt80 TCP Net:Any --> Green Eth1 Pt80 TCP Net:192.168.1.10 and also on my router to send all traffic to the default DMZ or 192.168.0.2 wich is the IP of my RED nic. Im also using DynDNS on my router which is working fine. But for some reason when I try to connect by using either the DynDNS or the actual IP it does not work I get a (111) Connection refused?? Any help would be great! Dan

Yes there is an option to dump settings and then restore that's what im going to look into doing. This way we can upgrade to a new version as well at the same time, easily without any fuss, turn one box of and the vm box on! Dan

I can get a fresh install to work perfectly but this means transfering all the settings over which would just be a b4ll ache tbh! I've had enough of linux for one day guna look at replacing the UPS battery now and get rid of this very annoying beep noise ive had for a week or so now ! D

I've no idea what version on Linux it is im sorry. I know I can install a fresh copy of censornet from ISO and that works! But a P2V will not :-( wo is me! D

Hey, I have my Censornet 3.3r5 box as a vhd in SCVMM now, problem being I need to set the boot option for the HDD as Manual LBA for it to boot correctly, if not all I get is 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 forever. I know the solution to this is to set it to LBA but can I find where to set this for a VHD, or even if this is possible? How do I get into the Virtual Bios if there is such a thing, it used to be easy to do on VPC! Dan
