I recently had this sort of problem and it was most definitely a DNS issue. Solved by removing machines from network then rejoining them. Think it was borked sids on machines.

Think I'll persuade the food tech teachers that they need some to ensure adequate use of ICT in their subject!!

Came in this morning and decided to have one last try before replacing bulb etc. Switched projector on and ............. it works perfectly!!! 8O 8O 8O I assume that leaving it unpowered for a long period has reset whatever it was that was causing the problem. I had switched it off last week but only for a couple of minutes at a time. Nothing in the documentation or website about this!! Ah well .......... these things are sent to try us!!!

Yes, one of the first things I tried. The "fiddler" had set the aspect ratio to 16:9. When I set it back to 4:3 it turned to 1:1!!!! I then did a factory reset but it remains at 1:1. Have also tried different laptop in case the fault was with the onboard video. Bloody nuisance balancing on a table trying to alter settings on an upside-down projector whilst looking at the screen over my shoulder!!! (remote long since went AWOL )

Got a Sahara AV2107 which has started projecting an aspect ratio of 1:1 (with the edges of the projected images missing) rather than the standard 4:3 after someone "fiddled" with it!! Have tried resetting (including factory reset) without success. Any ideas or is it a new lamp (£sillymoney) time?

IMHO the problem with all MIS is the transfer of data in the desired form to DFES. All the companies involved in coding these applications design them to comply with DFES requirements. All well and good, but the DFES constantly changes the way it wants data laid out and there is a constant stream of updates to comply with this. Many of these changes are last minute and there is no time to fully test updates before release, so we get further updates to fix the problems created by the last update. This is not the fault of the companies involved but the result of yet more tinkering and a lack of understanding by a government department involved in an IT project. Now where have I heard that before??? BTW I too have found the support from Capita to be really good nowadays.

always, always, always fibre!!! Indeed, the regulations do not allow for copper between separate buildings. Something to do with earthed voltage differences AFAIK. This was discussed on here last year I think but I can't find the relevant thread at present.

I`ve had this problem when the Temp. Internet Files folder didn't have enough free space to store the downloaded files. Either delete the folder content or increase the size of the folder then try again.

Cheers, Have opted for stand-alone machines for the following reasons: 1. Cost of networking Music room. Nearest Switch is full so would need additional switch plus cabling etc. Not worth it at present. 2. Music room not used much. Networked machines would result in some teachers "sending" kids there to "get on with their work as they need computers to do it" ........ unsupervised and you can guess which kids would be sent!!! No point in sending them if they cannot access their work. Any ideas re Sound Cards?

We've finally got a music teacher that is keen to develop the use of ICT in music so I need to start thinking about the hardware she will require. She wants to use Sibelius and midi keyboards and I reckon that stand-alone machines would be most appropriate. Any advice? eg: how powerful do machines need to be ..... Processor, Ram, HDD size. What SoundCard? etc All advice gratefully received
