I am running it on a VM luckily ... just hate it! SO problematic ... not even RM seem to be quick in finding fixes for our problems. I have followed their guides/knowledgebase to the bone.

Hi all, I am sure lots of you have heard of Successmaker - a learning support package to do with Spelling, Maths etc. We are running this on 2k3 r2 here, the only box we have here running that! I was wondering if any of you use any alternatives? all it seems to be doing is giving us headaches here and we would really like to move it's server over to 2k8. The reason we are not using 2k8 is that the sybase db software it runs on is only compatable with 2k3! Cheers!

We did keep it disabled but due to our recent outbreak of conficker we turned it back on, adding exceptions in GPO for WMI and VNC

It shouldn't be a problem at all, we are SEGfL but they opened our ports for us at SWGfL. You need to open a change control request, stating the ip of the server you want the firewall exception opened to and the port (80). They will (should) also make the DNS change for you. When I'm back home, I'll pm you my contact in the firewall change/DNS change dept who delt with me :-)

Oh god Conficker is horrible. I, along with Soulfish at our place, deployed out the Sohpos tool. Works a treat. Sophos Conficker Clean-up Tool (network version)

But what happens when your at that workstation fixing a problem and want to RDP into a server? Instead of removing it/running another script - I think disabling RDP via software restriction policies is the way to go.

You could try looking for Kerberos errors ... we had something very similar happen here........

I think it might be to do with the Security permissions. Try running the RM security.bat file - I have run that here and it seems to of fixed the problems. SuccessMaker Enterprise - Security.bat file

Alternatively write a script to see if a drive is avaliable, if a drive is not avaliable, log off. Will try do something....

VNC is the way to go I think on this occasion... If you have experience of deploying software via GPO's may I suggest you create an MSI using this: Download VNCed from SourceForge.net. It works well to create the MSI to your custom settings (.e.g hiding the icon ). I use this in conjunction with my own (did nick another schools for a while..where I got the idea from ... opportunity to further my programming skillS!) custom AD application to control PCs (still in development ... writing a whole room view at the mo!) to pick out the right room for VNC http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/5624/networkadmin.jpg

Hi all - thanks for your replies. I sorted this out by adding the printers locally to an TCP IP port - not ideal but it was only for 3 computers!
