  1. I initially wanted to use the local option but I never got it to work either! I even tried copying the files locally instead of a share and it never worked. I ended up having to use CDN which worked first time for me.
  2. Hmm.. upgraded to Windows 11 but seemingly no Sticky notes app built in. Can't download from the store. Whats the solution?
  3. Has anyone put anything into place hoping the grant will cover it? I emailed DFE and they say that safeguarding software is definitely covered "Thank you for your email. We know that some organisations are not currently in a position to ensure that all devices received through the Get help with technology service can be safely used by children and young people. For that reason, we’ve put the devices grant in place. The grant contributes towards the technical support costs of setting up and resetting devices received from DfE, including adding safeguarding tools to ensure devices remain safe. Organisations can claim the grant: for costs incurred for technical support provided between 1 November 2021 and 14 January 2022 relating to resetting a DfE-restricted device for costs incurred between 1 November 2021 and 14 January 2022 for technical support relating to setting up a device received from the DfE on or after 1 November 2021 Further information about the grants including its restrictions and eligibility criteria is available in the Get help with technology service. Kind regards,"
  4. From Papercut "Update (11 November):We have reports that the specific TCP/IP Port for RPC which needs to be open is 135. Blocking port 135 results in error 0x6e4 when adding a connection to a shared printer. Microsoft is continuing the investigation of this issue." 5. Hi all We use Impero and Sophos Central and when installed together, blocking websites via Impero and the browser extensions no longer works. I have seen there is a help guide about this on Impero support which talks about adding exceptions into Sophos, however it is still not playing. Has anyone come across this and did you do anything differently than the guide? Thanks!
  6. "Windows 10 version 1909 Support Page: KB5007189 Updates and improvements: Fixes an issue that might prevent the installation of printers using IPP (Internet Printing Protocol). Addresses an issue of a 0 (zero) width Pen to render one pixel regardless of transformation. Adds a feature to facilitate certain cross-browser data transfers. Improved Microsoft Defender for Endpoint's ability to identify and intercept ransomware and advanced attacks. Fixed a File Explorer stops responding issue. Security updates." Known errors Windows 10 version 1909 Print clients may throw errors when connecting to a remote printer shared on a Windows print server. Errors that Microsoft lists are: 0x000006e4 (RPC_S_CANNOT_SUPPORT), 0x0000007c (ERROR_INVALID_LEVEL), 0x00000709 (ERROR_INVALID_PRINTER_NAME) Microsoft is investigating the issue. I await with bated breath...
  7. Yeah use the MSI machine wide installer. Make sure all other teams installations are uninstalled and wiped from the machine first. The MSI auto updates.
  8. Yeah it's sometime this month. It would be nice if it was released today to coincide with patch tuesday.
  9. Power consumption on that 12900 chip is crazy.
  10. I'm going to update Windows 10 to 21H2 sitewide when that appears, then when that starts getting towards the end of its support window, I will probably look at it then. No rush really.
  11. It was ok. I cringed at the start bit flying on that board. Probably the strongest start to a series in the Chibnall era.
  12. Do you domain join the laptops to use the smoothwall? or do you setup local users?
  13. Yeah that's what I am trying to find out now. If they are offering a grant to help with setting up the safeguarding aspect that would help me out. We use Smoothwall but I find their cloud filter a bit unreliable.
  14. From the article "Devices ordered from October 2021 onwardsLaptops and tablets ordered from October 2021 onwards are delivered with factory settings and do not have any DfE-managed software installed. Owners of devices are responsible for ensuring appropriate content filters and device management systems are in place."
  15. I'm glad I downloaded all the passwords when I did, I didn't think they would actually get rid of all that information, unless its hidden somewhere? We have 51 devices allocated to us but as they are being delivered from October 2021 onwards, they have none of the licenses in place for safeguarding etc so we still need to look into that as we have nothing in place for when they can take them home. 16. I installed it locally, copied all files to a network location then through PDQ copied it to the client with a proxy file (also running a PS command to make sure to remove any previous installations) and that's about it. When the pupil runs the shortcut, the program auto checks for updates
  17. Just tested the October CU (5006667) on a client and bang "Do you trust this printer?"
  18. I went back to the usual xampp + CMS for 3.0.3. I really wanted to use Docker but I was getting constant complaints, and I'm not even sure why! Even stipulating a custom port wasn't being picked up. Shame.
  19. Does anyone have Docker working properly? I have done a server migration and wanted to implement it for Xibo but from installation through to the end thing I get constant errors and issues. I've binned it off now.
  20. That is HILARIOUS. Absolute classic example of how Microsoft have lost touch.
  21. Used quick assist throughout lockdown, worked well for me. Even UAC prompts.
  22. Pretty much this. One image in a VM. If there's anything major like a feature update I do that, take a snapshot, sysprep and add it to the WDS server. PXE/WDS/MDT, then PDQ adds any other changes such as browser updates.
  23. Does it allow staff to carry on as normal if the patch isn't on the print server?
  24. Looks like 21H2 is out today too.
  25. I have Windows 11 in a VM and that's where it will stay for the foreseeable.
