Yes, as predicted, open for workers/vulnerable kids. ALL staff on a rota (teaching/support/IT) with provision for our own kids if needed. Looking for volunteers to cover Easter Holidays etc as Gavin Williamson's email asked, and all staff working from home when not on site (inc support). To be honest, we seem to have planned ok so far (I've been drafted on SLT for 2 weeks already planning) and staff seem to have taken everything well so far. I anticipate this going on til possibly October.

But also : provide a temporary power to close educational establishments or childcare providers

There are thoughts here that the legislation will go through Parliament on Thursday, announced Thursday evening and it may give powers over holiday opening etc. etc. but all just high level speculation currently. Nobody really knows.

We've been told, last night, by the council that we would stay open in some way for vulnerable students, free school meals (not sure how) and NHS/frontline workers "childminding"etc. Probably on shifts with skeleton staff, but it won't be the "work from home all the time" that people are assuming in our case. We (2 of us) would have to alternate being here, either day by day or week by week. The assumption from our SLT is that this may also have to happen over Easter, as the same needs for frontline staff would be there. Obviously, Bojo could completely override this, but the Council Social Services are quite worried.

We were 87% today across main and 6th form. More in 6th form.

They certainly don't like ANY 3rd party connections. So Powerlines, second router etc are out (or are in my case). Had it connected via ethernet powerline, no good, then via wifi but to my TPlink (Closer, and connected directly to sky hub via cable), still no good. Weaker wifi connection but straight to Sky hub - no issues.

We've trialed using Firefly and Zoom quite successfully here. Already got both, and students have iPads already. Phone system can be set to forward to mobiles etc (ie for me, so not everyone gets my mobile, just uses the office number). Seem to be as ready as we could be for a low chance scenario of forced closure without going over the top or having to trial/but new stuff!

We have an Enviro Electric bin too. Great service, and you don't need to hoard/store until there's enough for a collection, just chuck it in as you go.

We've used Tecknet ones with no issues as replacements.

10gb backbone, gig to desktop. 2960s in the main. Also bought some refurb ones as spares from Switchshop, as the newer Cisco we bought aren't as good, especially the "mid range" SG500(?). Terrible.

Due to a previous BSF project, we're full Cisco here besides a Dell Core. Whilst we wouldn't have been able to afford it ourselves, we're keeping them and they've been solid for 8 years.

We've had successful tenders from Western, JTRS and GBM over the 7 years of our scheme, all have been good.

We're looking at this at the moment, we have 8yr old macbooks and looking to move to laptops as we're keeping a Mac infrastructure running just for these, and network saving etc has been troublesome! The only thing is replacing Garageband (Sibelius is great on PC), and the Head of Music isn't really buying in, with his only suggestion so far being ProTools, which on 30 laptops isn't cost friendly!

I'm afraid I don't, ours were withdrawn and sold on. Incidentally, the price we got for 8 year old iMacs sold on ebay, more than covered the price of 3 yr old HP AiO refurbs.

Oh yes, I get that, and have done a few here, but the thermal management is a real thing, you'll constantly have the fan going which will then fail quicker. ssdfanctrl

I think the "official" people will want serialised spares so that Apple can recognise the drive and use it's thermal management thing. There is a bit of software that you can get to bypass this if you just put a "normal" ssd in though.
