  1. Yeah, the DfE are sneaky gits when it comes to breaking stuff deliberately to get you to update your info.
  2. Shouldn't your connect.ini be here? C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS.net\connect.ini
  3. In over 10 years doing this at different schools, we've always had the photographers use barcodes or similar to name the photos at their end before they reach us. I've seen the photography teams turn up with laptops to do all this.
  4. Phil mentioned that there will be a student and parent app.
  5. I did it about 8 years ago, was pretty easy to be honest. Set up a new SQL server and you can restore the SQL DBs to it. A fresh install of the current Facility version you're using and you're good to go.
  6. SIMS Teacher app? It ticks all the boxes above that I can remember from playing with it.
  7. Which is a good thing because the teacher app (the one that i've used) is pretty good, whereas the SLG (or any share point site) makes me throw up a little bit.
  8. Nextbase 402G - awesome video quality (sound quality also nothing to complain about!). To avoid losing the last segment being recorded, just make sure you turn it off, rather than switching the power off. (if this happens to you) Highly tempted to get the 512GW for my birthday - 1440p quality
  9. Follow it to the letter, everytime I thought I could take a shortcut it went wrong.
  10. If you're confident in Excel itself, then you can get started by following the QRS available in the help within SIMS. QRS - Reporting - Create a macro report from SIMS allowed me to do my first automagical Excel output. QRS = Quick Reference Sheet
  11. machine spec not woefully worse than other machines? If not the solution may be to rebuild the machine (reinstall of OS) - it's a slegehammer to crack a nut, but it's normally much faster that tracking down the one dodgy dll or config issue on a work station.
  12. Going back to the first post - you said a teacher has this on a specific machine. 1. Does it happen to all accounts on this specific machine? 2. Does it happen to that teacher on different machines?
  13. Tools > Housekeeping > Bulk Address Tools > Tidy and Merge Well worth running termly to remvoe duplicates and any other weird formatting that may creep in from imports and user changes. The first time I ran it here (they'd be using SIMS for about a year prior to this) It produced pages of changes, nowadays it produces a few lines.
  14. Every time I think about going down this route I end up chickening out and just helping them make spreadsheets that do it. The problem is that teachers (quite correctly) don't want SIMS to be wagging the dog, so it's gotta be in the format they use. SIMS doesn't really work that way. If everyone did their conversions into percentages that would be great - but the teachers are interested in grade boundaries, not percentages - so again a non starter. You could leave each modules marks open (120 or whatever) but then do a percentage column next to it that YOU specify the total in. This would work until some bugger comes along with a module out of 140!!! SIMS sadly isn't the answer to everything.
  15. Didn't Peter Atherton make a nice excel thingy "progress 8trix?" or similar? Uses A8 to estimate targets much like you're doing. This year our new Head decided the methodology for me - 4 Levels of Progress from KS2 regardless, and a minimum of a C to boot! I'm not sure the a8 estimates are going to drop, the EBacc element in particular is going to creep up if schools are putting more students through it.
  16. the obvious (to me at any rate) way of pinning this down is to attempt to log on as that user on a different station, that'll tell you if it's per user. Ditto for workstation....
  17. what version of .net is it reporting it already has? uninstall .net and put it back on?
  18. tried opening the report from the reports screen rather than favourites? some of mine (favourites) screw up if I change the report in "design report".
  19. that's exactly how you would do it, well you could do a data import, but it's the end result that matters. It's not something I'd advocate, but if they are really desperate for the kids to have this on their report then it IS possible.
  20. you *could* hack your way around this limitation by importing the stuff into marksheets. Not saying it's a great idea though....
  21. Depends if you deal direct with the DfE or you are part of a local authority who are nice enough to do the final checks on COLLECT before it goes off the DfE. Our LA checks everything they can, particularly duplicate or otherwise erroneous UPNs.
  22. Well I tweaked and reran my report and my IDs go from 116 to 205.....
  23. Wonde_usertype.xml.txt Learn something new everyday @matt40k Just rename back to .xml and it should hopefully be good to go.
  24. Is she strangling him??
  25. @ghanel Thirdparty reporting Students - basic details/registration - view admission number Staff - basic details/employment details/timetable & academic classes Reports Curriculum
