    Karoshi 5.1.1

I can confirm what linuxgirlie says I tried Firefox and had no problems. I have install it now and will look at it over the next week or so
  2. May I recomend you take a look at AutoImage over at http://www.doitrightconsulting.net RogueSpear has an application that really takes RISing forward. I have every machine on site now RISing it has taken a little while but has been well worth it. I have probably come across most of the gotchas so feel free to contact me if you need.
  3. I use E107 on two sites and the latest version (released last week) is a big improvement, it seems to be fairly well supported through their forums. It may not be for everyone but it can't hurt to try a local install and see what you think. alan-d is right the documentation is a little sparce at times but there is plenty on help from the comunity.

    Karoshi 5.1.1

I thought I would take a look at this but I get "could not read file" when trying to download I have tried a couple of mirrors all with the same message.
  6. In a previous position we had the sparkies in to sort out a problem in the admin area. So I walked around all the admin staff to warn them and get them to log off...........well all but one the business manager who had done nearly 2 1/2 hours work (without saving any of it as it turned out), yes your all ahead of me here she lost the lot and I blamed the sparkies
  7. I have blocked the site from pupils at school but it doesn't stop them coming in from home, I agree with the "special rank".
  8. been there so many times
  9. HodgeHi are you in the GPMC if so you can copy by right clicking drill down to Group Policy objects there you will see all of your policies choose one then right click on it then choose copy. Good luck
  10. ChrisH I would like to reopen this post, with another question that is on the same lines so I will continue here. I have the silent installers runnining as part of my RIS install from the RunOnceEx all works fine apart from my Autoit script to open and close flash, my reg file is not imported till later on so flash at the point I call it is still not registered. I know the obvious answer is to import the reg file earlier in the process, but I would just like to see how you and other members achieve this.
  11. looks like this can't be done via a registry as it is linked to the GUID of the machine.
  12. I have just phone the guy I'm helping out and you were right NetBios over TCP/IP was disabled Does anyone know the reg tweak to set this to enabled?
  13. DO you know i have been looking so deep into the problem you might just be right I will check that tomorrow night thanks
  14. Thanks for the reply Thats not quite what I'm looking for, you see I am fixing a couple of PC's that have had this done to them through the registry and its affecting all users including the admin, I seem to remember that there was a reg tweak that did this and I need to reverse it, as it is causing problems with protection pilot, the program is unable to browse the pcs to deploy anti-virus.
  15. I am trying to find out how to do this, I know that there is a reg setting that stops the network from being browsed, so you need to know the exact location of the printer or share you want. I have used it in the past but now i can't find what I'm looking for, I'm probably searching the wrong terms. Does anyone know the setting I'm on about?
  16. I agree too, our Head of ICT has only a Staff acount, although she is able to see student home folders and change student passwords
  17. Like many here we are always pushing ourselves just a little bit more all the time. I did this recently creating 7z silent installers for macromedia mx well it took a little reading and a little time but I gor there. Anyway I found this tonight http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3303&highlight= a little utility to do all the hard work for you. Don't knkow if it deserves to go in the essential section so lets see
  18. I have been having problems with PC's with Asus A7N266-VN motherboards with Nforce onboard NIC's This problem has been haunting me for weeks and I have spent alot of my spare time on this. Anyway I have found a solution today so I thought I would share it with everyone here just incase. This was written by a MikeC on the nvidia forums but the links don't work anymore but don't worry I found this link ftp://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/utils/nvidia/ and all the files I needed were there today. There is also a PDF doc on the site relating to RIS I hope this can be of some help to someone.
  19. I agree that it should be down to Teacher discipline but we all know how it really is. I have had the main IT suite to full with students playing games while a cover teacher hides away in the corner of the room ignoring what is going on, and when I switch of the rooms access to the internet I am told that they are researching........
  20. Has anyone come up with a soulution to game sites on the web? It seems as soon as I block all the sites the kids are using, a new set of sites turn up. Does anyone have an answer to this?
  21. Thanks for that ChrisH I will try on Monday. I'm thinking though I might do what you are doing install once windows has install with the runonceex method I take it.
  22. RC30.....drools, I rode one once what a machine.
  23. ChrisH As the files are at the end of the video they are still in an extrated form not one complete exe are you saying use the exe that is there with the wrapper leaving all the other files in the same directory or do i have to re-archive the files into one exe? Geof I'm trying to deploy some 7zip silent installers of macromedia suite
  24. After following ChrisH's tutorial for Macromedia Suite Mx I have managed to create a set of 7zip silent installers. Now I want to deploy them across the network to the various locations that they are needed. So I thought I would use the windows MSI wrapper metioned in the essential software list the only problem is it does not want to work for me. I end up with a msi file that is only 286KB now I suppose that is fine if its ment to referance the exe and not actually wrap it in a MSI but there is not documentation that I can find the help goes to a defunt website. So I suppose what I am really asking is does anyone have any docs on this program or do you have an alternative way of deploying a 7zip silent installer?
  25. Guess what....... it was the big end on the one I was on, and yeh you are right normally they are bullet proof must be the Newquay air
