As some of you know I'm planning on moving to OZ and I'm part way through the application. The other day I was told that if I could get CISSP qualified it would help possible getting me onto a fast track. So I was wondering if anyone knows much about this qualification? Where I could go for the training etc, has anyone else taken it?

I got it working and just incase anyone else has the same problem here is the fix. The RIS server can only have ONE NIC and ONE IP address. once I changed this everthing worked straight away \\:D/

Zoneminder is a must I am playing with it at the moment and its really great look for the LIVEcd http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=6&sid=6d788263c5f4c3521a681b6ab488832d this will boot from cd and allow you to use the software without installing it

mmm that warm place is really appealing as winter draws in (OZ) . I have uninstalled RIS today and then completly re-installed it, everything went fine, and I recieved no error and DHCP was authorised, but when I went to a client pc it still fails to get an ip address
-
I have re-run the RIS installtion Services setup and it reports that dhcp has been authorised but clients are still unable to pick up an ip to boot into RIS
-
I tried this but when I add the linux dhcp server (using its ip address) it finds the server and adds it to the consul but it is not connected, if I click on the + i then get the egg timer then a white x on a red background. Have I done something wrong?
-
Thats great, I will give that a try

Geoff, thanks for replying, I don't think this is what I'm looking for however. I want to retain Windows 2003 RIS and be able to use a linux dhcp server.
-
I going to place this here as I have no idea where it should go. Over the summer I have been forced to move from windows dhcp to linux dhcp (we have had a couple citrix suites installed). This as left me with a problem I can't get RIS to work with the Linux dhcp, it worked at first with no problems, but as time has gone on less and less clients are getting an ip address from dhcp. Has anyone got this working if so how?

I have just downloaded them and will take a look

I want to be able to just check them all every now and then to make sure things are running as they should be.
-
I have got it wrong I have the Pro version, so where can I get Procurve Manager and is it free more to the point
-
My procurves came with procurve manager 2.1 and its a time limited version hence I need something else is version 2.0 still available for download?
-
Does anyone know of a tool for the HP procurve switches that would be simular in use to "jetadmin" for hp printservers, i.e config, browse all switches a central management tool. Cheers

It looks like it was a DNS issue when the new kit was installed they pointed my windows DNS server to the Linux DNS server and not itself i have pointed it back and it seems t be working again....... Fingers crossed Thanks to all that offered help

Its the PC sessions the TS sessions seem to be fine although that has not been rolled out properly yet as we are still waiting to take delivery of the TS client boxes

I had alot of problems like this last year, over the summer holidays I had a company in to add more network points and they found many conections at the back of patch panels loose and some flapping around. This term the network has been really stable (i did upgrade all my switches though) but if it carries on its got to worth looking at for the time it could save you. good luck

Thanks aj I'm am ready to try anything now :? I don't know if this makes any differance but these problems have been since we had a new DNS/DHCP server installed when we had our Terminal services solution installed.
-
Hi alan-d I have tried that too..... now, and still I can't get any new settings to take effect :?
-
I have found a tool rsop.msc which gives a good amount of information I have found two ADM files that were not readable by my users but that is still not the problem. I have also found a referance in rsop.msc to user scripts in the GPO being accessable but I have no referances to any scripts in my GPO. confused

HI DMcCoy thanks for replying The staff are using roaming profiles, but students are not and this seems to be a problem for everyone on the domain. It seems to have started after we had terminal sevices set up last week I know a few new policies were created for terminal services but this shouldn't have any knock on effect, should it? all policies worked fine before.
-
It seems that no matter what I do to the GPO nothing is reflected in the user account when they logon, I have changed a couple of settings just to try and nothing happens (i.e changing the desktop). Is there anything that can be set to stop the policy applying? But the really strange thing is GPResult reports that the policy is applying :?
