I have RIS working fine with many different dell pcs (i have used Autoimage to create my images) So I am willing to talk you through that if you would like but as for wds I have not yet updated my ris server yet I think I will have to do some testing first. Unless of course someone finds the answer and posts a complete howto
-
Thanks for that
-
Hey where did you get the google adm template I've not seen that one before and I think that would be very useful cheers
-
I have zone minder running at home too, so far it seems to be working fine. I am using the day/night cameras that are seen on ebay mine are not IP but BNC connections using a 4 port card on the PC it seems to work just fine. As a side note to this I feel so sorry to hear all the problems you appear to have where you live. I live in Cornwall and although there are problems here they don't to be anything like what some of you are experiencing. What is happening to this country

@Ric_ do you have a link to that document I am going to a meeting tomorrow to dicusss the same situation for the Plymouth LEA and that would be a good document to have at hand.

Only just seen this post I am doing a network install today but I am using Version 10 which Boxford sent to me on request. The sever install is quite straight forward although the client side requires an exe to be run on each client machine. Maybe you can contact them and get Version 10

Sims as a remote published application is it possible?
edie209 replied to edie209's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Thanks guys I will download 2x tomorrow and give it a try, 5 apps will be more than enough for what I want. -
I need a little bit of help. I want to run Sims as a teminal services remote published application , if that is possible. I have installed a workstation install on my TS Server, and now I want to be able to create a shortcut on teachers PCs to run Sims remotely, but I also only want Sims nothing else if they close sims I want the remote session to end, taking them back to their own desktop. I have seen this done through smooth wall, so it must be possibble, if someone could point me in the right direction I would really aprieciate it.

I have just had some bespoke pc cages made by a company called HITS, they cost me £50 each and would have been cheaper if I had ordered more I only needed 15. give them a try they can be contacted on 01752 849118. They don't have a website but I can tak a picture of mine if you want. Good luck

Pete only just seen your post I had the same problem and I have the drivers here that work with the intel pro100VE if you pm me your email I will send you a copy. It took me months to find a set of drivers that worked with onboard intel pro 100 VE that worked with RIS

Lee I didn't for one miniute think that. Like you at work I like playing with techie stuff like the Dude and such
-
Lee point taken, but I would still like to here some recomendations. I use my laptop to install and test many software applications that may or may not go on the network, including games that have been asked for by teachers for such things as after school computer club, and summer school clubs. As for playing games during working hours..... I wish I don't even have enough time for dinner. As you may or may not be aware I'm emergrating to Oz and have a few months (as long as the visa goes through) left to finish what I started here. I want to hand over to the next person a network to be proud of not just a series of problems. Thanks for pointing out the TAX issues, having worked in industry most of my IT life I have normally paid tax on a car, phone and a laptop so I am used to that although I think some teachers here, are in for a shock. But how much can you tax someone with a 4 year old laptop?
-
Well I have been given the go ahead to get a new laptop. I have decide that I want to be able to use it while at home to play my online games too. With changes weekly I just wondered if any of you have a laptop that you are doing the same with. I also think I would like it to run vista at some stage.

Tim I just tried and the download worked for me, we are using it here it seems to be quite a good program but the jury's still out. I had an email from them about a week ago informing me of an upgrade coming out in the next weeks. Give it a go it might be just what you want. Although I don't think it is what you want Witch, there was another program mention here a while back called "The Dude" its listed in the esential software list I think that would be more what you are looking for.

Don't worry I have found the answer, you have to log on as teacher

I have just installed Headstart Foundation Maths and Headstart GCSE Maths, two programs that the school bought a long long time ago and the maths dept have decided they want use them again. Headstart GCSE Maths has installed fine and I have rolled it out across the network with no issues. However Headstart Foundation Maths has installed but I can't find a way to register it, I know it is probably very simple but the paperwork I have does not mention registering it I can't find anywhere in the program to register it however when i try to use it I get a message to register it. :x I tried phoning their support but no one answers the call. So someone here must be able to put me out of my misery.

yes it was but then I'm in Plymouth wages here seem to be far behind the rest of the country.

At my interview they sat all the candidates in a room before the interviews started. So as you do I started talking to the others, and found to my suprise I was the only one with previous IT experience all the others were salesmen, science techs ect who had computers at home and thought a network would be the same to look after. One walked before the interviews, keep your chin up and you will be fine, I interviewed for a technician a little while ago and the standard was really poor. If you know your stuff you should be fine

I have spent far too many hours on this now but I thnk I might be getting somewhere. If I have the share name as limilogon$ I get an error on line 130 char 3 path not found on PC1 then when I log on to PC2 I get the mesage box informing me that I am already logged on elsewhere and that i will be logged off on clicking the OK button I then get another error on line 91 char 6 path not found. HOWEVER If I rename the share to limitlogon and change the referances in the script to suite I get a different error.... I log onto PC1 and get this error 121 char bad file name or number 800A0034 when I log onto PC2 I get the same error but I don't get the message box telling me I'm already logged on Any ideas..... anyone have a working script for limit logon that logs the user off?

Shame not really my line php I know a little but not enough for this job. I will have to carry on with the visa process, anyway I will still get to Oz
-
It seem a few of you are interestested in some of the bits and pieces I have, at the moment a large amount in in my loft packed away the older stuff anyway. So give me a couple weeks and I will get list together and if the the site admin is ok with it I will post it here then if you want something you can let me know, there is quite a bit of brand new gear that never got used too. You see I was freelance for a while and bought stuff then customers changed their minds or whatever, but things like wifi dongles cdr burners all sorts of stuff. One thing I did find last night having a quick look was a graphics tablet which must be A2 but it is serial driven cica 1996. Anyway i will get a list together

I'm still struggling with this problem and VBS is not a strong part for me in fact I know didly squat. SO I have posted the same question on a VBS forum and got some replies and I tried the CaSe but that didn't work as to the other suggestion could someone tell me what that they are asking me to do.
