I have to agree I use both IE6 and IE7 with no problems although I do prefer using firefox

I have now run the nslookup command on domain A (admin) i get server.admin.school 10.64.x.x *** server.admin.school can't find _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.school.lea.sch.uk: non-Existent domain On domain B (curriculum) I get Server: unknown Address: 10.2.x.x DNS request times out timeout was 2 seconds *** request to Unknown timed-out Also after doing a netdiag /fix on both domain controllers I get errors on the Admin DNS

We have two domains curriculum and admin when we lost our domain controller last week we also seem to have lost our trust between the two domains. When I try to restore the trust starting on curriculum to admin I get the message that the admin domain is not a valid windows domain name (admin.school) Dns resolves on both separate domains but not between each other any suggestions?

We have this software running on server 2003 sp2 everything has been fine we do however have it on a dedicated server. I have just recently gone to IE7 but we haven't had any tests since I have done that. So fingers crossed it works but I think I will check it out now

Just to let you all know I have found the cause of the problem according to Dell the Poweredge 2850 MUST use the dell raid controller drivers NOT the Microsoft ones and also the scsii drives must be using the latest firmware. apparently the parity can be effected over wise, as in my situation

After my sever problems last week (turns out it was all caused by the firmware on my scsii drives I'll post details in my original post). I need to recreate my user home folder shares. My backup has restored all my data but not my shares so I was wondering if anyone has solution to this? some tool or script, free if at all possible.

read your posts last night so I remoted in and shut down the sever and I am now installing a fresh copy as per your suggestion and will let it replicate with the other domain controller. Thanks for your contributions guys sometimes its just good to know your not on your own

Well unfortuanatly that didn't work so I have had to reinstall the OS and then restore the system state this went ok but I have been left with quite a few errors now which I will look into tomorrow. One question though has anyone restored the system state o a domain controller? because although I can access Active Directory Users and Computers I have to do it through Manage your computer there is now no shortcut in the menu along with other Active Directory tools. I haven't sevice packed it yet but that shouldn't cause a problem should it?

I think I have a way of fixing the server in c:\windows\repair the file "system" is backed up, if I could find a way of accessing that file and then overwriting the the file in c:\windows\systems32\config I think I might be able to get the server back up but I can't do this through recovery console is there any other way that anyone knows. Tech-guy I tried your idea thanks but I get the same problem cannot find autochk.exe

Ok I rebuilt the drive overnight and all was complete when I got in this morning. so I rebooted the sever and got the message c:\windows\system32\config\system is missing or currupt So I rebooted and went into recovery console to run chkdsk /r as mention by Uraken on entering the command chkdsk /r I am presented with a message cannot find autochk.exe So I decided to look on the c: drive for autochk.exe and and i find I am unable to use the dir cmd on the c drive and I get the message An Error occurred during directory enumeration So I am running out of options unless anyone here has a suggestion??

I came back to work today after a week off to find one of the drives in a Dell Poweredge 2850 had failed, the system is set up with raid5 using 4 drives and a hot spare. I downed the server and replaced the drive, but on reboot the server reboots at the point that the message "Windows is starting up" is displayed (about 5 seconds into it). Server 2003R2 sevice pack 2 This happens in safe mode too has anyone encountered this and know a solution? please

Hi I'm running Clarkconnect at home and I would like to be able to power down the system using the power button as in the soft touch in XP as I have no monitor or keyboard on this machine,is this possible in Linux? Clarkconnect is based on Red Hat vesion & I think if that makes a differance

Kyle are the machine going to remain in their current locations? if so you can do what I do copy the GUID in Active Directory from the machine with a user name (don't let the RIS install go past the point of telling you what the machines name will be) then create a new machine account in Active Directory using the Name you wish the machine to be called for example ICT-PC01 and then select "This is a managed computer" and paste the GUID in here and then every time you RIS that machine it will always take the name you gave it. You can take this alot further aswell because if the OU that the machine sits in has MSI's applied to it your machine will also have these install during the RISing period and so saving you time in the long run. Hope this helps

I have been battling with an error 13 on one of my windows 2003 SP2 servers. I have found referances to this error on eventid.net but I have worked through every solution offered and I am still having the same error.
