  1. Ok we have bromcom so that is the reason thanks guys
  2. I got in this morning to find my sims.ldf file was nearly 17gig yes you did read that correct now what I would like to know is why does this happen I have got it sorted with a DBshrinker bat file from SCOMIS. But I would just like to know why it happened SCOMIS were anable to answer that question.
  3. OutLawTorn I used a bit of software on my mp3car project about 3 years ago i can't remember the name at the moment but I have the software in my cd wallet but I have left it at work this weekend. But the place that I originally found out about it was at http://www.mp3car.com/ I'll have a look and see if I can find it for you Edit I remembered the name Helium and you can find it here http://www.supershareware.com/info/helium-music-manager.html
  4. I have spent the entire day today comparing two pcs one work one doesn't. I think i may have finally found the problem the ones that work are using my documents on the local machine, something I don't want, and the that are not working have a networked my documents. I have redirected admin staffs my documents to their home folder using the group policy setting and given them full control as I assume Sims requires. This doesn't work (or at least it didn't for me). Coulds I ask how other people have their sims users setup with referance to :- Profiles Home folder Permissions Folder redirection Have I missed anything? My users have their home folder st in Active Direcory H: \\server\share\username Profiles are roaming profiles \\server\share\username Home folders they have full Access Folder redirection my documents basic redirection redirect to users home folder.
  5. This may be totally off the mark but our server ran out of space recently and was down to 500mb this became a real problem as when staff logged onto sims I could see the disk space going down. Once the disk space got down to less than 20meg we would get that error, when staff tried to log on to sims. Now this is such a simple solution I bet you have checked or that you know you have enough free space, but hey just incase.
  6. Thanks I'll look at that in the morning
  7. djm968 thanks for the reply I saw this but it don't seem to be the problem. Users "my documents" are their home folders they did have modify but I have tried raising to full control with no luck "Group policies may be restricting access" I have two users in the admin OU that are having no problems. All PCs are the same model and the same RIS image "To test this out, create a new User on the domain and run SIMSPERM.BAT and then see if that Userid can run SIMS .net" Do I run this as the new user?
  8. Kyle pm me with your email so I can send you the files
  9. OK i have the faut code now 9799-2185-4000 Absolute path information is required : System ArgumentException If I try to log onto sims on the server it is fine and it is also ok on the one win2000 (bromcom) workstation we still have. any suggestions?
  10. Could be that simple you know, I was tired when I finished today so might just have missed that one
  11. posted at the same time and it was you ChrisH iI was talking to
  12. Kyle I can help you with this I had the same problem about a year ago I have the file at work that I did it with but first are you using RougeSpears AutoImage to create you RIS image if you are its quite simple. You will need to create a registery import first for your serial numbers and then you will also need to open FlashMX as an administrator on every machine I do this using an AutoIT script. Now I talk in length with another member about this about 18 months ago Geoff of ChrisH if my memory serves me right But when I get into work I can get you the AutoIT script and send it to you and tell more on how to achieve your required results
  13. We have combined our domains today something I know some people agree with and some don't but we took our time thinking about this. Anyway I have a connection error when I try to log onto sims ( I have just got home so I haven't got the error message to hand, but its a connection issue  ) , but have I forgotten something really silly. Permisions on the sims folder have been change to allow all sims users on the new domain to have modify access and the sims user group are local admins on the workstations (anyone know how to do this remotely) I have spoken to our local sims support and gone through their suggestions with now luck I was just hoping someone could think of something I may have forgotten.
  14. remote control wall sockets, I want some
  15. Just plugged in a second monitor on my laptop and a wizard started asking how I want the second monitor setup i.e. duplicate on both monitor or extend my desktop. This is all available in control panel in display settings. It has worked here in the time it took to connect the second monitor
  16. I use dual monitors at home and I use an ATI card with the two outputs and have no problems but i am using XP at home but my laptop here has Vista and if you go to display settings (right clicking on your desktop) you should be able to see both monitors there. I will rig up a second monitor and post back
  17. Could you elaborate on this or point me to some information, as I was seriously thinking of going this route.
  18. Well it seems that I don't have the correct software so this Acronis it this the best on the market for the type of situations Im likely to come across? as it looks like I will have to purchase something
  19. I am going have to image the admin server sometime this week as its drives are too small and we are running out of space very quickly. Now I have Ghost 10 and LiveState Recovery 6 and I was just wondering if anyone has used either with 2003 server and a scsi raid controller the server is a Dell Poweredge 1800. What I'm really looking for is any gothchas, now I know Ghost 10 is not for server OS's but I have read that some people have used it with success has anyone here?
  20. yeh sorry I should have posted that too I had just woken up here it is http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=11ab3e81-6462-4fda-8ee5-fcb8264c44b1&displaylang=en
  21. There was a post about this a couple weeks ago. Download the adm file from the microsoft site and then set it up in your group policies
  22. I think I may have just found an answer to my problem. Apparently G3 Macs can't read cdr disks and need images to be burnt onto cdrw's so I'm just trying now and will post back the results later No tried that and I am getting the same error
  23. I will say here now I now jack about Macs And I wasn't sure if to put this here or in Nixs I have an old G3 Mac at home that has been sat in a cupboard for a long time so I decided to let my six year have it I booted it and all I get is one folder in the middle of the desktop. It used to boot fine so I gues that its dead. So I thought I remember a converation about edbuntu being installed on G3s with good results. I downloaded the PowerPC version but it just won't boot I have tried the firmware boot and the normal method and I get a message that block0 can't be read. Does anyone know if a cd has to be burnt differently for Macs? or is there another reason.
  24. You had better have a look at this http://www.sendspace.com/file/avu6uc it a 3.6 mb file showing a new application that is being written for the N95. The guy who is writting the apps' website is here http://www.bysamir.fr/nokmote/ Oh I'm so glad I opted for a N95 :laughing8: :laughing9:
  25. I have fixed this problem after many painful hours this is what I did just incase anyone else ever has this problem On the admin DNS server properties sheet, select the Forwarders tab under DNS Domain, click "New" enter the Domain Name of the curriculum domain, click OK, check the "Do not use recursion for this domain" box and enter the IP addresses of the DNS server for the curriculum domain. Then repeat these steps on the curriculum DNS server.
