Exchange 2007 Mobile devices not connecting
edie209 replied to edie209's topic in Enterprise Software
As I said in the last post I have found a solution to this problem and I will go through what I did below just in case anyone else finds themselves in the same situation. So this is what I had originally. I searched the web high and low and never really found anyone with the exact same problem, lots of similar problems but none that really seemed the same. In the end I read a post from someone who had had problems with OWA and in the end he uninstalled and re installed Exchange. I didn't really want to be that extreme so I set about looking into uninstalling the CAS Server. Which I will document below the various steps and PowerScripts used. Uninstall IIS How to remove and reinstall IIS 5.0, 5.1 and 6.0 - make sure to take a backup first you just never know. Once you have removed IIS reboot your server Delete "watermark" from HKLM\software\microsoft\exchange\8.0\client access Uninstall the CAS Server Role open a command prompt and navigate to the \exchange\bin folder then run exsetup.exe /mode:uninstall /roles:ca Then open Exchange Management Shell and run the following Powershell scripts REPLACING SERVER2 WITH THE NAME OF YOUR EXCHANGE SERVER remove-autodiscovervirtualdirectory -identity "server2\autodiscover (default web site)" remove-oabvirtualdirectory -identity "server2\oab (default web site)" remove-owavirtualdirectory -identity "server2\owa (default web site)" remove-owavirtualdirectory -identity "server2\exchweb (default web site)" remove-umvirtualdirectory -identity "server2\unifiedmessaging (default web site)" remove-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory -identity "server2\microsoft-server-activesync (default web site)" remove-webservicesvirtualdirectory -identity "server2\ews (default web site)" Reboot your server at this point Re install IIS..... I had a really strange problem at this point in that IIS installed as IIS 5 it took 4 uninstalls before IIS 6 installed re install the CAS Server Role open a command prompt and navigate to the \exchange\bin folder then run exsetup.exe /mode:install /roles:ca At this point my sever was up and running and mobile devices were working again. However I was back to a self signed cert I am about to try the Cert I got from JA.net I will post the results of that later. This worked for me and I take no responsibility if you try this and do more damage ( I have to say that don't I?) I would like to thank Sheepds on Technet for some of the above, I have pinched bits and pieces from many different post so if I haven't mentioned you sorry. -

I seem to remember that allot of school networks were originally set up with two domains admin and curriculum to keep the two separated this was a favorite in the NT4 days. There was a one way trust set up with the curriculum trusting the admin domain. Its possible that this is a theme of this idea. But I would run with it for a while because sometimes you have to work with things for a while before you are able to see the reasoning. I take it you are not able to speak to anyone that has been involved with the network previously? Apart from that I have to go with Dos_Box some sound advice there.

Everything was working fine with a self signed certificate, however the problems began when we installed a JANET certificate issued via SWGFL. -

Ok have run the test and we have the one error now (did have an issue with DNS but that's sorted) Google this error and I am not coming up with anything -
I think i will move this to here as I think the problem is more exchange than Server 2008 Story so far, Exchange server working fine however it was a base install with no service packs. I updated the service packs to SP3 and rolls ups to No 6. After this mobile devices would not connect. We were advised that we should have a commercial certificate, which has now been installed and we were still having the same problem. I have deleted and recreated the "Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync" virtual directory. And still I have the same problem, which creates the following entry in event viewer. I want to bring this one up again, I was told that it was our certificate that was the problem so I have waited to get one of the free ones from SWGFL, which I got today. I have just installed on the exchange server and we still have the same problem. We can connect fine using OWA however mobile devices just can't connect via Activesyc. I have noticed a 1309 error in Event Viewer Looking in Add or Remove programs I can only see Rollup 6 available to unistall. Going to the link in the error message and then entering a username and passwords returns the following. Exchange 2007 on 2003R2 server in 2008R2 domain
edie209 replied to edie209's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Ok I have now done all the updates and have found a gotcha. Mobile devices no longer connect, has anyone had this problem before? I am able to see the mobile partnership in Exchange management tools and I can remove the partnership yet I am not able to get the mobile device to connect. I will now start searching but if anyone knows a solution it would be much appreciated. -
Exchange 2007 on 2003R2 server in 2008R2 domain
edie209 replied to edie209's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
Yes I saw that, but is that if you install exchange 2007 on a 2008R2 machine? we will be leaving exchange on a 2003R2 machine for the time. Edit Just as well I asked I have just noticed that the Exchange server here has never had any of the service packs opps -
This is quite a simple question really. We currently have a 2003R2 domain, on which we have a Exchange 2007 server (running on a 2003R2 Server). We are now about to upgrade to Server 2008R2 and need to run adprep /forestprep and domain/prep But I would like to know if anyone knows of any issues for exchange 2007 with upgrading the Active Directory Schema.

I would register with the big job agencies, I updated my CV last week and I have had about 9 calls about jobs in the Bristol area, so I would say its worth a go. The sites I updated were Monster, Reed, Jobsite and Totaljobs. You never know.

Simon have you managed to fix this yet? If not what task sequence are you using could you give a few more details. I have been using MDT just recently and had my fair share of problems and failures. However your problem is one I have not seen, I think I would first create a new task sequence and try that first. If that fails maybe come back with some info about your task sequence. I have XP SP3 working and just briefly I started with a clean machine installed XP and di all the updates then I gathered the image back to the MDT server. Then I imported the .wim file into the "Operating Systems" section then once I had done that I created a new task sequence using the "standard client task sequence" I hope this is of some help

Hi thanks for the replies Geoff I get where you are going on my request but it's not quite what we are looking for. I downloaded the demo of Cisco Webex yesterday and play with it but there does seem to be limitations especially when you start to involve Apple devices and sound, and unfortunately many people use these. I will continue to look at the other suggestions you mentioned and see if any of them are more suitable. Exim I look at you suggestion too thanks.

Hi All not been around for a long time as I no longer work in education. But today I have been asked for a solution that has education all over it. I will try to explain what I need. One person will do a presentation on a PC connected to a projector, but anyone with a wifi device should be able to connect to this presentation as long as they are on the wifi network or LAN and it must not be dependant on being a member of the domain. We would like to use Android tablets but we want it to be available for smart phones and laptops too in fact any device that could display a presentation. I know in my education days we used I think "Net Op or Ranger" to show to entire classes so this must be available.

I am trying to find drivers for the pentamedia Satallite card the zip file is Pent@NET_2K_Eng_3_1.zip but I dont seem to be able to access the site pentamedia.com. This card was the same card that was used on the espresso pcs of a few years back. I'm wondering, hoping, that someone may have a copy of this driver or may be able to point me to a location where I can download them.

Information display screens around the school?
edie209 replied to PaulBM's topic in How do you do....it?
We have just had a OneLan system installed and I was wondering if the people using this system have pushed it very far? I'm just trying to get to grips with it. I would love to know if anyone has managed to get different tv programs (for instance) on different screens around the school or is it just a casae of having the same on all screens. Is there any more documentation that the little booklet that comes with it? Also do you know of any free layouts available for download just so I can try out different ones to see what really works best before I customise one of the stock ones.
